I have to pimp them here, I first of them around here (ish) and have overwhelming guilt for missing Amanda Palmer play with The Boston Pops this spring. (sick as a dog)

I don't think a separate thread is necessary for solo work either.....

Solo Album coming out in September

I like The Dresden Dolls, but I have a friend who absolutely adores them. I'm a guy and I have to say, First Orgasm is a bit of a guilty pleasure. not so much the subject matter as the fact that it's a great song.

I love this band. Amanda and Brian are both fantastic musicians. There's such a great dynamic between the two of them when they play together that you don't really see with a lot of bands. They're so in-tune with each other, musically.

I'm hoping they do another tour in the near future. I missed out last time they came to Philly.

They're amazing live; I saw them in San Francisco in May and after the show Brian handed me his setlist. The opening band was really, good, too (they're called Vermillion Lies).

i saw them last February in san diego
AND IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!

I've never been to a concert where everything as good as that one, we even met Brian at the endof teh show.he's a sweetheart btw

isn't he so talkative??

i love these guys live. Amanda is so talented; I was just watching the roundhouse dvd earlier during a study break. I can't wait for her solo album.

I've seen them twice (Amanda solo once) and her solo stuff is BRILLIANT (downloaded a leak) it's definitely different to Dolls stuff.
Brian is one of my favorite musicians ever (he's also the nicest guy you could ever meet) I was so jazzed when I saw he worked on ghosts I-IV

Even among things I've discovered recently (Been listening since the release of their self titled album) they're one of my favorite bands ever.

At first I didn't like them, but I would get parts of their songs stuck in my head and then I'd have to listen to the song that it was from just to get it out of my head. Somewhere along the way I started to like them

08/25/08 2:59 AM

gonna see amanda in berlin this october *yeeeahaw* grinning smiley

08/25/08 8:16 AM

Saw and met them at Coachella..

I enjoy their music, but only for awhile. The War Pigs cover is nice...

08/25/08 10:38 AM

Love them, have seen them a couple of times, their shows are fantastic. Really looking forward to Amandas solo album

08/25/08 10:23 AM

soooo good. I first saw them on the With_Teeth tour (Vegas) and was floored. I wish they'd tour the west coast more than once per album... saw them again in Phoenix just before Yes, Virginia... and just after No, V...

and I agree, Amanda's solo shit is awesome... leaves a nice sweet syrupy after-taste (the kind you get with really good waffles, if you catch my drift)... hoping for a more extensive tour...

They are amazing live. I saw them a few months ago live finally. They put on the best show I have ever seen. Other then NIN of course but that goes without saying.

Amanda played the drums it was great. Her solo album should kick ass.

I think i am in love with Amanda Palmer, if her real persona is anything like the implied honesty inferred in her songs then i may actually be in love with her...how tragic. I really should have grown out of crushes by now...*sigh*

I've seen them three times. First experience was opening for NIN in Chicago, then a few years later I had to suffer through Panic at the Disco for what turned out to be a three song set. Finally got to see them headlining in Chicago this past winter. They're wonderful to their fans and I love how nothing is set in stone music-wise. Amanda has been an inspiration for my own piano playing.

coin operated boy is fucking awesome. just sayin

09/05/08 3:40 AM

Coin-Operated Boy is very good, but Dirty Business is their best song. So says Whiskers.

Kudos you to lol I didn't even attempt to see them with that horrible PATD band YUCK!!!

I totally have a woman crush on Amanda. When I saw them live last May I was seriously doing the Homer Simpson drool most of the time lol Amazing fucking band. "Girl Anachronism" made me fall in love years ago, that's one amazing song!

They used a live recording of Glass Slipper from our show in St. L on No, Virginia. That was before Amanda had her throat surgery but the gruffness of her voice was kind of charming.

Well, according to the comments made on this video
Dolls interview

And Brian's comment's on the shadowbox.
The Dresden Dolls are done (for the time being)

sad smiley

I love them and hope to see them live at some point. Amanda Palmer's Who Killed Amanda Palmer? is fantastic! I got it the first day it was out because I was really looking forward to the release. You'll love it winking smiley

09/27/08 1:13 AM

I still remember the first time I heard "Girl Anachronism" on the radio--it made me sit up in bed with my mouth hanging open, thinking, "What the heck is THIS?" In a good way.

I hope they'll get back together at some point, because they're one of the best live acts I've ever seen. Meanwhile I just got Who Killed Amanda Palmer, and I'm very excited to see her perform solo again in December (less than a week after NIN--whee!). She was here a while back and it was great fun. I need to check out the stuff Brian's been doing too.
