spicycatburgers posted:A transwoman was brutally beaten to the point of having seizures at a McDonald's in Baltimore on the 18th. The employees did pretty much
nothing to stop the incident from occuring, choosing instead to laugh it up and record the whole thing on the guy's phone. There's a petition to hold them partially accountable for what happened,
here's a link with the petition/video.
EDIT YKWYA - please try give some idea of what your thread is about in the title. Thanks.
I wish there was more info behind the story/video, but based on what is shown, the people involved with the physical assault appear to be guilty. As for the bystanders who encouraged it, they may also be guilty, but probably to a lesser degree than those who took part in the assault. Recording the incident is both good & bad. The reason for recording it is likely to be simply to catch something "amusing" to post on youtube for 15 minutes of fame. The good part is that evidence like that helps prosecute assholes on a regular basis.
It's a tough decision to get involved for many reasons, but I'd like to think I'd make an attempt at stopping it if I could. I took my daughter to a Dunkin' Donuts one night when she was 5 or 6 years old & a fight broke out in the parking lot just as we left the store. At least 4 or 5 male teens, maybe 20 years old at the most, were punching & kicking 1 guy by himself. Having my kid with me & being outnumbered forced me to make the decision to quickly get in the car & drive off. I went several stores away to another parking lot, went in with my daughter & told the clerk to call the police.
Hopefully the person that was beaten is okay & the people responsible are held accountable.
