Assault on a transgender woman at McDonalds

04/26/11 2:47 PM

A transwoman was brutally beaten to the point of having seizures at a McDonald's in Baltimore on the 18th. The employees did pretty much nothing to stop the incident from occuring, choosing instead to laugh it up and record the whole thing on the guy's phone. There's a petition to hold them partially accountable for what happened, here's a link with the petition/video.

EDIT YKWYA - please try give some idea of what your thread is about in the title. Thanks.

I would've definitely helped if also i had help and back up, black and native women (just a human observation, no offense or stereotype meant) always seem to be a lot more.... energetic? and high strung? in comparison to a lot of white women from what I've witnessed.

Should have been way more employees preventing this situation from happening and escalating than there were. Myself if i ever saw something like this happen in front of me in a public establishment I would get so rattled and anxious, things like this that go on in society is just disturbing.

Obviously a lack of positive community there... though i wouldn't quite hold a McDonalds as having much of one at all to start with considering the shitty quick fix foods they cook up.

It just pisses me off to no end because one of my best friends is a tranny - most people don't realize just how much shit those people go through. And yeah, there are some crazy black chicks out there eye popping smiley
(sorry about the vague thread title btw)

Its fucking deplorable. The staff should be ashamed of themselves. How could you not help? As for the perpetrators.....

Those girls better end up in some deep trouble. What sucks is that the younger one is probably gonna get some slap on the wrist bullshit and then get off. The other girl is 18 though, maybe she'll get what she deserves (that sounded awful but I have no respect for people like that).
I do admit to possessing a certain amount of apathy, but then I see this stuff and it makes me sick.

It's downright disgusting, the way these "people" behaved. That poor woman has been beaten physically and psychologically and will possibly be paying for this for the rest of her life.

I signed the petition. I hope something is done about this.

I wish there was more info behind the story/video, but based on what is shown, the people involved with the physical assault appear to be guilty. As for the bystanders who encouraged it, they may also be guilty, but probably to a lesser degree than those who took part in the assault. Recording the incident is both good & bad. The reason for recording it is likely to be simply to catch something "amusing" to post on youtube for 15 minutes of fame. The good part is that evidence like that helps prosecute assholes on a regular basis.

It's a tough decision to get involved for many reasons, but I'd like to think I'd make an attempt at stopping it if I could. I took my daughter to a Dunkin' Donuts one night when she was 5 or 6 years old & a fight broke out in the parking lot just as we left the store. At least 4 or 5 male teens, maybe 20 years old at the most, were punching & kicking 1 guy by himself. Having my kid with me & being outnumbered forced me to make the decision to quickly get in the car & drive off. I went several stores away to another parking lot, went in with my daughter & told the clerk to call the police.

Hopefully the person that was beaten is okay & the people responsible are held accountable.

I think that if you see something like this and you stand by doing nothing, you're as bad as the perpetrators. It's one thing to stay out of a fight because you're outnumbered and have a daughter to worry about - that's fine - but there were enough people in that McDonald's that could have stepped in and stopped it from escalating.

Wish the asshole with a camera would have put it down and fucking done something.

Shit like this makes me sympathize with vigilante justice. Cause I'd like to exact some.
