I JUST SPOKE TO HIM!!!!!!

Just hang up the phone. I'm still in shock. So excuse any mistake I might make!

I answered the phone in Greek, big silence... "Stella?"
I was "OMG Hi Josh!!!!!' I was OMGing for quite a long time actually...

I don't remember things in the exact order, but I'll do my best.

He said it was nice to finally take a break from the road and focus on his kids, that the kids are quite a handful and three of them is enough. Poor man!

I told him I loved the cd, he was very sweet, he said he didn't want the cd to be in the same style as NIN, with heavy drumming etc.

He laughed when I told him that the album made me feel like when I used to watch mtv when I was a teen and said that that was the point, he made everything on his own, it was something fun and the point was for people to feel good listening to it. If I remember correctly he mentioned that the album's style is close to Jimmy Eat World.

I asked him about the person who got the 20,000 package (as Zan asked me to do, and that's the only thing I remembered asking.) He mentioned the mini golfing with Maynard, and the person who bought it is not someone famous.

He was asking me about Greece, where I lived etc, he said he's never been here, although there were plans for NIN to get here but didn't happen. (Fuck) Also I'm the only Greek who got the package so far (no shit)


Umm that was pretty much it, he's a genuinely nice guy, very soft spoken, with a really sexy voice... tee hee...

I was the 10th phone call or so. And those were 8 mins of bliss and pure awkwardness! He's great. Whoever can spend 50 bucks, it's totally worth it!

Time to write up my call too!

I was amazed to get the call tonight, as it was only a half hour after I responded to the email regarding my contact info and free times.

Thanks to Staci and her post, I sounded cool when I answered the Restricted Number call with "Hey Josh!!" He laughed and said "How did you know it was me?" I said "I just talked to my friend Staci. She just got off the phone with you and said the number came up as Restricted." He laughed again and then asked if I was in Chicago too. (So he DID pay attention to Staci's conversation!) I laughed and said, "No, I'm from Philly. I know Staci through Twitter and NIN.com" He then talked about how he liked Philly and the East Coast, but was tied to SoCal since that is where everything is for him now. His parents are in Orange County as well as the GF's parents and the kids go to school there and that's where the work is for the entertainment industry. So he has to stay there even though it's expensive and shallow and a shitty town. Said "I know some people leave their towns to come to LA, but I'd rather not live here." I mentioned that I was possible moving to Memphis for my job. He asked if it was for my job or hubby's job and I said possibly both. I mentioned our professions and where we might be working and he said "Wow, that's cool!" We talked about real estate and how much cheaper the rest of the world is compared to LA. He said he had a friend that worked as a producer for JA take the money from the record and buy a place in Nashville. Nice place with a built-in studio and some land for dirt-cheap compared to LA prices. I mentioned some of the prices for stuff I've seen in Memphis and he just laughed and said "That's so not fair!!" I mentioned now is a good time for us to move because our daughter is only 2 and wouldn't know better, verses and older child who's already in school and would be more upset by the move. He agreed and said "I know what you mean." I asked how things were going with the calls and stuff and he said he was almost done the first batch of 70, but that the company was getting ready to send him about 70 more to call. He said the lunches start next week and that with all that's going on, things are absolutely CRAZY. Between the kids, the studio sessions, and the promo/participation required for this record, he was swamped. I said that I totally understood and said he was crazy and that's what happens when a prank isn't really a prank. He alughed and agreed. I told him that he would be having lunch with at least 2 of my friends from Twitter/NIN.com, Suzanne (Zanshands) and MaryElle. I mentioned MaryElle was a good photographer and has some awesome shots from the NIN shows that she had press passes for. Mentioned her site, meowhousemedia.com and said he should check it out. He said he would, but who knows if he really will. Anyway, time was starting to be up and he said "I hate this part, but I've got to call my manager by 4:30 (PST) and I said "No problem, I totally understand!" He said "Yeah, I feel bad having to cut things off, and I know I could talk to you for another hour or so, but I've got so much still to do and other people I have to call. I gotta make room for the lunches too." As we started to finish goodbyes, I remembered everyone talking about the "Sugar Pitch Cortini" video. I asked about it and he laughed and said others had asked too. He said enough people have asked that he just decided to start telling the story behind it.

He said it was a big joke and that the people arguing are originally Brett and Sully. Towards the middle/end, it's Aaron that yells the loud "BULLSHIT!!". Josh is the one at the end that yells the "Hey! Hey! Hey!" He said they put the camera in the corner like the Blair Witch Project, shot the argument like it could be real, then turned off the camera and busted up laughing.

He reads the comments that people leave on the YouTube page and laughs at all the speculation I joked it was funny as hell not matter what! He said yeah it was and he didn't mind if I posted the explanation anywhere. I said I might tell my Twitter peeps or post it on NIN.com, but that was it. He said that was cool and that he finally had to go, for real this time. I laughed and said "No prob!" again. I said to have a good night and take it easy. He said "Thanks, you too!" and hung up the phone. So at the end, my 5 min phone call was actually over 11 mins. It was awesome and I'm so happy I got the $50 package. It was so worth it!! Josh Freese Fucking RULES!!!
