Hi,

I know exactly what you're talking about since I made the video, smiling smiley I deleted it a few months ago when I decided my Robin board had no future and got rid of anything that had been supposed to help promoting it.
I still have the main Finck website though, I can try to host the video there sometime before the end of the week end. I'll post a link when it's ready. smiling smiley

Since we're kind of on this topic, I'm going to have a bit of a ramble, just as a general note to everyone reading this thread:

Even when something is publicly viewable online, I take into account that it could public by accident, or without permission. It's always good to question the source and to use your judgment when it comes to posting things, whether it's Robin and Bianca, or just Robin. (Of course, this applies to the rest of NIN as well.)

I was even hesitant about posting the Cirque du Neon thing a couple pages back, regardless of the fact that the event itself and the content was public, because the only reason I knew about it was through Facebook's search when you click "posts by everyone". (Generally the only thing that comes up when you do a search is people posting "Sossego" or some other GN'R video. grinning smiley )

I say this all because we did have a bit of a problem with some photos last year regarding the source (I should note that the person in question lied to me about the source--this isn't in reference to anyone who posted a picture that I removed without knowing it was meant to be private), and I don't want anyone to attempt to pull anything like that again. Bottom line: use your head, and be respectful of people's privacy. Once you've posted something here, someone's likely going to save it and it's probably going to circulate, even if it's removed, so just be aware of what your posting.

Anyway... pictures?

Thank you!!! That is indeed kind of you!!! smiling smiley

Referring to Miss_Hazy's post ^^ about private/personal videos or pictures of certain individuals. What's private is private and should stay that way. I think it's terrible that people harass or stalk certain individuals simply because they are "famous". It's sad that some people have to do that just to have a "life". Put yourself in the position of the "famous person". Would you like someone following you around with a camera or otherwise watching your every move? Possibly publishing a photo or video of you that you do not want made public? I certainly would not like that to happen.

Your Robin board had no future...?! Says whom?! Your website is a HUGE plethora of information on the man himself, and I think that you should have kept it open. The only reason I started one myself was because I didn't think yours was still around.

Anyhow, while on the topic of "stealing" photos, I want to house as many robin photos as humanly possible on the site, but I'm not going to start right-clicking and saving them all, without your permissions, or you could send them my way via email, or link, etc etc. Also, am in the process of creating a flickr profile for the site, and have already created facebook and twitter pages for it. Feel free to follow, like, and share your thoughts.

How's everyone doing these days? Don't get on here enough anymore...

Is Robin Finck our universe's version of Randall Flagg, the evil wizard from Stephen King's stories, who has lots of names in different universes, but the initials are always RF? I think he fits the description.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj241/ssdd67/RandallFlagg.jpghttp://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k119/KevinLucia/TheStandRandallFlagg.jpg

No?

07/03/10 12:44 AM

I remember Robin joking that Randall Flagg (and Richard Fortus, and Ralph Furley... LOL) would be a good potential owner of the pedal Robin was auctioning off with the "RF" initialed on it... haha. In real life, no, Robin is not an evil wizard (unless he's playing us all! winking smiley ).

DMG, I sent you a message. smiling smiley

P.S. I see you only linked to your FB page through your Twitter, but I'll link it here as well--Finck Among Us, incase anyone else wants to "like" it.

HA HA...RF is a wizard of sorts, of the guitar in our universe. Perhaps in parallel universes, he is what you speak of. Suppose we'll never know for sure...?

Thanks for the kind words, and thoughts, Miss Hazy. All are welcome to send me their thoughts, whether they be good or bad. I enjoy hearing from you.

I often ponder what Robin does in his off time, besides the cryptic but fantastical "tweets", and photos...

EDIT; I set up a Flickr account, as well as a group where anyone can join and post their favorite photos of Robin. I figure my favorite ones will be later posted onto the photo section of Finck Among Us. Here is the group address: Finck Among Us Flickr Group

Has anyone read this? I just stumbled upon it today and I do not recall ever seeing it, and for sure it hasn't been posted in this thread. It's an interview with Robin from last year:

----------

Robin Finck is looking forward to playing on Nine Inch Nails' Australian tour. Just don't ask about his former boss.

By Andrew P Street

SOURCE

Last time Nine Inch Nails were here it seemed like the band were finished. Trent Reznor notoriously encouraged the Luna Park audience to pirate his records during an on-stage rant, much to the displeasure of his then-record company Universal, and the tour ended with him sacking the entire band.

"Oh, is that right?" laughs guitarist Robin Finck. He wasn't part of that line-up, but he has been in NIN more often than just about anyone, having toured with them on and off from the mid-90s and playing on last year's The Slip. That's not all: he toured with (and met his acrobat wife through) Cirque du Soleil, as guitarist for their show Quidam. He was also part of Guns n' Roses, co-writing and playing on much of Chinese Democracy – although he's loathe to even mention the fact. He's sounding chipper about his current job, though.

"It's still exciting. I still get a charge from stepping into these songs and playing in front of these audiences and playing with the guys in the band," he begins. "We're just about to start making noise with these songs, the four of us. We're gonna flesh out these songs and see what we come up with. We're already excited about doing it - we've been talking about it, but we haven't gotten in the room and hammered them out."

Those who saw the band last time around should take note: this time around the band will be a lean, rockin', guitar-based quartet. "We're going out as a four piece, as opposed to five, and we're really gonna strip these songs down and build them back up in a way that's exciting and fresh and feels alive for the four of us."

Finck has enjoyed a remarkable – arguably unique – degree of creative input in his recent projects, considering he's been working with people regarded as highly idiosyncratic creative mavericks. "Oh sure. I'm fortunate to have been involved in the... teams that I've been playing with," he says, carefully. "I'm certainly grateful."

And he's worked with some people who are notoriously, shall we say, challenging to work with...

"Sure, they're terribly different people," he says hesitantly, accurately predicting where this line of questioning is headed. "Trent is really forthright with the vision, whether it's a song or the stage or the presentation or the concepts or the sound design, or just getting a song together – but he also has an ear for others' input. And he always shows up and really has a love and a care for what he's doing with these songs and really with everything in Nine Inch Nails. And that's inspiring and refreshing, you know? We put in long hours when we're working on this stuff and it's very satisfying."

As opposed to, say, working with... certain other people?

"Look, I'm not really here to talk about the Guns n' Roses guys," he counters, with the sort of diplomacy one might use when discussing a notoriously litigious former employer who likes to start feuds at the drop of a hat. "I certainly wish them the best, though."

Alright, fine. So how does one go from being lead guitarist with a couple of the biggest rock bands on the planet to playing fiddly classical guitar for a circus?

"That was kind of a trip," he laughs. "I jumped two feet over the fence and I don't know where I landed - I landed in some crazy place. It was wonderful and it was very romantic and charming and I met some lifelong friends through that experience, and I married one of 'em. And it was quite an inspiration too, just to step away from the rock world, specifically the touring life of a rock band at that time for me in my life. Really, the music: that was all second to the lifestyle that I was seeking. I was looking for something to turn my world around, first and foremost, and playing music was really secondary."

Any desire to go back to something like that?

"I'm always open to things. I mean, right now I'm chest-deep in Nine Inch Nails - there's a lot for me to be excited about and to apply myself towards - but eventually I see myself singing my own record. But right now I'm leaning into Nine Inch Nails with everything I've got. And there's a lot to lean into."

----------

Interesting.

Interesting.

Interesting, indeed. I shall have to put that interview up on the website, for sure.

I don't think I've ever felt comfortable posting anything related to my RF fan site on here, because I always feel like I'm stepping out of line, but...I just thought to mention this, if anyone needs anything Robin Finck related (videos, photos, etc.) hosted somewhere, just PM or email me the files, or links to a zip file or whatnot, and I can indefinitely host it. I have unlimited space, and I know some of those hosting services like megaupload, or photobucket can be a real rip-off.

Anyhow, just putting that out there, I do have unlimited space and bandwidth on my account, so no worries. Also, please let me know if I can add your RF-related material to Finck Among Us or not, and will gladly credit you for the submission.

Great find, Miss Hazy!!!

I'm a huge fan of the music from CdS shows and had no clue Robin played for one; I guess it's time to watch Quidam or listen to the soudtrack again.

Thank you, miss_hazy, for posting that most interesting article. Robin is such a gentleman, quite the diplomat.

Yeah, he was with them on about half of their first North American tour. It's too bad he'd already left when they made the DVD though.

Randomish pictures I found...

For anyone interested, I made the final updates to my tour blog from last year, with the final Chicago shows: READ HERE, if you want. Quite Robin-centric for the most part.

I laughed... "Danny":

Thanks for posting that interview, too. I hadn't seen it before! He's a pretty special bunny.

I have trouble crying, but my eyes did start to water as they busted out Right Where It Belongs, and finally Hurt. It was pretty deep, I know what you mean.

I got my AVOTT DVD set today. I forgot I'd finally ordered one so it was like a surprise. grinning smiley Makes me miss NIN, and reminded me again of how much I'm in love with "28 Ghosts". So good.

Random picture... looks like he's staring straight at the camera!

I love the Quidam soundtrack too! It's very hard to find video of old Quidam performances on YouTube. There are a couple that I've come across but whether Robin was still involved at that point is unknown since the videos were not dated.

Anyway, I'll leave you all with this...

Here's a cool set of photos... knock yourselves out.

Wouldn't it be nice if Robin got together a band and toured, maybe, Australia? smiling smiley Band members might include Justin, Josh perhaps, or Ilan, Alessandro maybe... smiling smiley

Everyone else seems to be busy with their other projects, bands, gigs, and whatnot. Everytime I hear about one of the other guys doing something, it makes me wonder what Robin's up to. We know he's up to something, but he's like a quiet kid at the back of the classroom in school with his arm shielding his notebook... winking smiley
