eBay auction: 90's Gibson Les Paul Standard exceptionally clean and was owned by Robin Finck

The money goes toward a little girl's cancer treatment. It was auctioned at an benefit he played in September for the same cause, but it looks like there were no bids as it's up for auction on eBay now.

If you're interested, check it out! It looks like they might only ship to the US though.

11/22/12 4:27 AM

What a wonderful, caring person he is!! I'm really sorry though that it's on eBay now. Does that mean there was no money raised for the little girl?

11/22/12 7:17 AM

Oh, there were other things in the auction as well, that was just Robin's donation. I'm not sure how much money they raised, though.

11/24/12 4:08 AM

^^Of course there were. I don't know what I was thinking... put it down to old age.. smiling smiley

I am really excited that NIN is back, but I know that most of us are disappointed that Robin isn't part of the new NIN. After seeing yesterday's news, I spent hours watching NIN shows from 08 & 09 and felt even worse.
I will really miss him on stage, and those back up vocals... I feel like NIN isn't complete without him. I believe you understand how I feel.

All hail the Finckster

I understand why people are sad for sure. In my opinion Adrian Belew well deserves this spot in the new incarnation of NIN though. I will miss Robin in NIN and I feel for people who never got the chance to see him play with NIN, but personally I'm kind of relieved.

I've been saying it since the tour ended in 2009, but I really want to see him do his own thing now (or at least try it out for a while). I'm really hoping this is inching closer to being reality, although we can never be sure.

I agree. We never saw his full potential in NIN. I hope that we will hear his own music soon, I really like his songs in Chinese Democracy.
And I hope he will finally change something on his site ... I am tired of seeing the NEW SITE SOON thing. sad smiley

Yeah, I know right?

Ah yes, seeing "new site soon" still after all this time is pretty irksome. I think at this point if someone designed Robin's entire site in Microsoft Paint I'd be ok with it. winking smiley I wish at least the front page would change. Even something like:

Not likely, but y'now...

I guess all we can do is keep waiting!

02/27/13 3:33 PM

I certainly will miss him!sad smiley

After more than two years lurking around here, and other parts of nin.com, I feel compelled to write something...

Although it would be great to finally see some solo stuff from Robin-if it ever happens-I really wish he were part of this new lineup. He will surely be missed...

02/28/13 4:13 AM

On Sunday (fourth anniversary of NIN Hordern Pavilion gig) we watched the dvd that was made of that gig and shared around with everybody. Robin is so much fun to watch on stage. smiling smiley I was sorry he wasn't included in this new line-up, but Adrian Belew is a very well-respected guitarist too and I think he will fill the spot very nicely.

Did anybody see the movie "Ghosts Of Mars"? There's some of Robin's music on that.

02/28/13 11:08 AM

I believe Robin will play on couple of shows, but we will see. It would be great if he joins them next year. I said this once, I'm gonna say it again- NIN isn't NIN without Robin.

As for Ghost of Mars I've heard that it's a really bad movie. The soundtrack is the only bright spot.

Geez, I must be psychic or something! I talk about "Ghosts Of Mars" a couple of days ago, and there it is on television tonight! I'm recording it and will watch it maybe on Monday. Yes, I heard it was a pretty bad movie, but I'm really only interested in listening to the music.

03/28/13 1:21 PM

I tried to watch "Ghosts of Mars" once at night years ago and fell asleep on the couch. I don't even remember what was happening in it except for bad special effects and I didn't feel like trying to watch it again, haha. I did buy the soundtrack though. I think "Power Station" is my favourite track, I love the solo at the end: [www.youtube.com]

Still no news on the Finckster, really. This year is 1/4 gone already, yikes! I did buy some painted goggles of Robin's that he once lost though, if you missed out on seeing these they're kind of fun: [www.fincktheworld.com] That's all I've got to share at the moment!

04/02/13 5:30 AM

I've still got Ghosts Of Mars on my hard drive, I must sit down and watch it some time. According to the closing credits, though, Robin is not listed, but Buckethead is. Maybe somebody got their guitarists mixed up? smiling smiley

04/04/13 2:00 PM

That's weird, I've never watched the actual movie credits. Maybe none of the songs he played on are actually in the film itself, just the soundtrack? I guess I'd have to watch to find out. But yes, Buckethead plays on the soundtrack as well.

04/06/13 4:48 AM

I always watch the closing credits, I'm a bit of a freak that way. smiling smiley Still haven't watched the movie.

Looks like Robin played on Gary Numan's album to be released later this year--from Numan's Facebook page:

… Gary Numan’s new album Splinter will be released worldwide on Monday 14th October. We’ll have more details soon, but it ranges from the wall-of-electronic noise that is ‘I Am Dust’ to slower velocity anthems such as ‘Where I Can Never Be’ and the orchestral strings of ‘Scream’. The album features guitarist Robin Finck (Nine Inch Nails, Guns N Roses) and is produced by long-standing collaborator Ade Fenton.

Excited to hear what he contributed! smiling smiley
