Alright folks, I'm back with details. First off here's the
KC pics. I didn't take as many good photos this time out. Seems I was enjoying the show more thinking it could be the last time for a while. I also only had a small window to see through. I think Murphy's Law loves me and put the tallest skinniest fellow there right in front of me! Luckily though I had a clear view of Robin and if I leaned to the left I could see Trent and Justin, Ilan was out of luck most of the time!
Bear with me, this could get long....
My KC story starts out as we pull into the entrance of the hotel to check in on Wednesday afternoon. So who do we spy right off sitting on a bench taking a smoke? Brett. We immediately start freaking out! This is our second trip where we unknowingly stay in the same hotel as the band. Crazy! We play it cool and by the time we park he is gone so we check in and as we walk in the door there's Jerome on the phone and reading a text or something on another one. Again, not a word. Once we were checked in, we grabbed our bags and headed to the elevator and then it opens and there is Ilan walking off. Holy smoke....I casually wave and say "hey." He smiles and waves back. On the elevator and trying to settle down, we make it to our rooms and get geared up for the M&G. Once freshened up and ready we head out. As we get to the front door, I spot Robin sitting on the cement barrier next to "the white vans." I'm frozen at this moment. I don't consider myself a "fangirl" in a crazy stalker kind of way, since I'm an almost middle-aged mother and wife I should be able to handle myself like an adult, but it was kind of weird. It's one of those moments where you want to run over and hug someone but then reality slaps you and you realize that would be kind of criminal. So I just debate on snapping a paparazzi photo for myself to prove that it did happen, so I opted to photograph and go on. So as we are leaving he's still out there and my friend honks the horn and we wave at him and he waves back. I'm shy so that's the easy way to do it, right?
So we finally make it the venue after several wrong turns and get to do the M&G. Leo and Brett wrangle us in 10 at a time and we present our things that we want signed as the guys sit behind a table. I had decided that I would have one of my photographs that I took at the Lexington show signed by everyone so I had that and my "comment" ready to go. Robin was first up and says hi and asks my name, I reply with my name and then apologized for honking the car horn at him as we left the hotel since he was on the phone at the time. He laughed a little and then I do not remember what else he said to me. Actually had a nice little conversation with Justin, which I remember, then Trent which I think he remarked something about the angry guy in my photo (him) and laughed a little. Ilan was very quiet and sweet and told him I was the lady who waved at him getting off the elevator at the hotel. He smiled like, Oh, OK. After the line circled around and everyone there got their items signed, we got to have our photos taken with the band by Rob. Our nerves were more settled this time but you've got Leo and Brett rushing you through so it's kind blurry but I managed to squeeze between Robin and Trent but failed to ask him for a hug. So that was me, acting like I was a teenager again, crushing on a rockstar. Silly fun.
We didn't run into anybody else at the hotel but by then we weren't getting greedy, it was just the perfect night and I couldn't have wanted it any better for my friend who has been a NIN fan for 20 years. If this is the last tour for TR then we had the night of a lifetime.
Here are my favorite Robin shots I took:
