Hockey 2008-09

GO LEAFS GO

Lifelong Wings fan. Been watching since '83 when I was 7yo. Suffered as a fan for many years. Fast forward to '95. I'm in process of packing to move w/my family from Detroit to TN. Yay. That sucked but two nights before we are to make the move, the Wings take down the Blackhawks in Conference Finals to...HOLY SHIT...advance to play for the Cup! So I get to TN hoping like hell the area had ESPN/2 so I could see the glory of my hometeam from afar while suffering from my move. We got the proper channels and what the hell should happen...

We get taken the hell out in 4gms by the Devils(???) and some punk goalie named Martin Brodeur. For that I shall always wince at his name...despite Wings successes since.

But I do respect his new record. I believe he has a helluva shot at owning the shutout crown (Terry Sawchuk - 103 I believe) by season's end as well.

So yeah...congrats to Marty.

LOL! I have always hated the Red Wings, and since the Minnesota North Stars were stolen from us, I was left without a team to cheer for. And when the upstart Devils swept the Red Wings, that is when I started to follow the Devils and never looked back.

I can understand your disdain for the greatest team/franchise in NHL history ( ) since them and your North Stars were division rivals back in the day. You shoulda kept your alliances in the old Norris Division .

If it wasn't for '95, I might appreciate "Mar-TEN" a bit more. He's not well liked by my GF either...she's a lifelong Bs fan and Brodeur's screwed up a couple possible runs for her as well.

But the second season is right around the corner and I do acknowledge that Brodeur is well rested and playing very well against opposing offenses. I am glad we won't see him unless it's a Finals rematch. My GF isn't resting as easy...possible East Finals matchup.
