I figure i should still be able to get tickets through the public sale; it's just a pisser that my fanclub membership doesn't amount to much since i can't be home when the presale starts. On top of that, this is pretty much the first year ever they've announced that presale tix will be first come, first served rather than seniority based, meaning if i *could* be home to get them, there'd be a good chance i could get really good seats, rather than the "back of the fanclub section" tickets i usually get(didn't get a fan club membership until 2000, so my number is a little on the high side). To be honest, i don't have a problem with older members getting better tickets, but i've felt for a long, long time that there should be a "location bonus" when buying tickets, where you can choose a location (but only one) near you and throw your name into a lottery for the best seats available. The way it's worked forever, seniority has determined seat location, and there's no limit on the number of shows you can attend(you're just limited to two tix per show), and most of the oldest fan club members are the most hardcore, meaning the same people getting the front ten rows in Seattle, LA, Boston, and everywhere in between... anyway, i just felt like venting a little.

What else you got in your underwear drawer?

The Jam has forsaken me. NYC presale sold out, Hartford presale sold out. Shitty luck, but expected. Got tickets for Hartford through the public sale; $85 apiece, nosebleed seats. Fan club announced a second presale for NYC shows because the first one didn't go so well; i was ready for this one. Got in, and they wanted $92 a pop for the tickets, and the best they had to offer was all the way up, all the way back. I can't afford to pay that for tickets one way or another, but i can't even justify paying that for shitty tickets.

I paid $83 for a pair of tickets to see them in NY in 2003. In 2006, a pair ran me $130, which is a big jump, but $65 for concert tickets still isn't that bad, i reasoned, and at least the seats were good. Seeing Vedder solo at the Boston Opera House in 2008 cost $83 apiece, but that was a very rare experience with extremely limited tickets and not a bad seat in the house. Priciest tickets i'd ever bought(at the time), but still worth it. Now tickets are getting uncomfortably close to the triple digits in cost, and the band can't even promise their fan club members decent seats?

Though he wasn't outspoken about it, i respected and admired Reznor for keeping his ticket prices reasonable for the last four years('05-'09). I saw ten shows in that time and don't think i ever paid more than $65 a ticket. Not for exclusive club shows (Boston Orpheum in '05, NYC Bowery in '09), not for the most elaborate audio/visual beasts he could conjure up. Pearl Jam doesn't spend anywhere near that kind of money on their stage show, and they were always the self appointed champions of the low ticket price cause... but it seems the operative word their is were.

Okay, no more ranting about Pearl Jam here. Unless they put on a shitty performance with no encore at the one show i'll be attending, but that's still two months away.

03/19/10 2:56 PM

hah, at least PJ actually announced the date/time of their presales! for the Radiohead show in '08 all anyone ever got was "rumour has it they might go on sale today... and if they are, we're not telling you what time" just to spice things up, lol. i don't know how i got those, but i did!
anyway, i think those ended up costing around $100, same for Depeche Mode, but at least those were awesome seats. i haven't seen PJ but i'm sure it'll be worth it. well, it better be... i don't think i can listen to anymore of your bitching and whining. tongue sticking out smiley

pre sales always sell out in seconds...I hate their pre sales I really do. We're going to day 2 at MSG. We got super shitty seats through the ticketmaster presale...but at least we got it. bleh.

yeah for real. A few years ago it was much affordable to catch Pearl Jam. Now all those fucking heart attacks that their piece of shit server gives you as it crashes every single time you try to go for presale doesn't make it worth it for me anymore. The fact that the prices for them has sky rocketed makes us only catch them 1 time this leg and even then weary about getting such shitty seats. They are just out of control with those prices. I rather go to see other performers. This last time left a really bad taste in my mouth for the damn pre sales. I just don't care to put myself through that anymore. Last year I didn't even get my damn vinyl. Whatever. I think I may start hating the band because of the prices and pre sales.

I'm done ranting. Sorry guys!

so..we meeting up for Conan or what? I'm dying to actually see Mohegan Sun this time around...not just bail and run to the next venue like last time. I'm looking forward to actually looking around...seeing the restaurants and shops...especially Krispy Kreme! woohoo!!

What to do in a flight when you have an annoying passenger sitting next to you ...

1. Remove your laptop from the briefcase;

2. Open the laptop slowly and carefully:

3. Turn it on, as well as the sound;

4. Make sure that the passenger next to you is looking;

5. Access the Internet;

6. Close your eyes for a few moments, open again and look up to heaven:

7. Take a deep breath and open the site: [www.myit-media.de]

8. Observe the facial expression of the passenger seating next to you.

Have a good trip.

Riveting? Hmm, I think you'd need a rivet gun & not a drill....lol

Lets see, if you aren't going to use it a lot I'd suggest an electric drill instead of a cordless, rechargable, one. The reason is, the battery will start to lose it's ability to hold a charge after not using it often (like a car battery) & eventually you'll have to buy a replacement battery which will cost almost as much as the drill. (I know this first hand....lol)

Also, unless it comes with 2 batteries & you keep one charged all the time, it may not have any power when you actually need to use it. It will lose it's charge just from sitting. For an electric drill, you might need a heavy duty extension cord that has the 3rd prong for the ground, but a lot of drills I see now don't need the 3rd prong, they are "double insulated" so you can get by without one.

Now the size of the drill depends on what you'll be drilling. If you're just making holes to hang pictures, or maybe a peep hole in the wall of the restroom, then a 3/8" drill is all you need. The bigger & heavier duty drills are 1/2" & more money. The size is determined by the diameter of the largest drill bit you can put in it. If you want to make really big holes, & lots of them, like a beer bottle rack for LRF, then you should get the biggest drill you can find.

Some decent brands I would go with are....

Sears Craftsman, I have a 1/2" electric that's an industrial grade, that's about 25 years old & works great.

Ryobi, I have a cordless one, 18.2 volts & it's been decent, but I've only had it about a year so far.

Dewalt, a friend has one & it seems to be built strong.

Makita, used one at work years ago & it was well made.

Sears usually offers "package deals" that give you the drill & a few accessories, like several drill bits & screw driver tips, not earrings, a purse, or matching shoes. Sometimes the store has them as a package for less money than the drill by itself. I think you could spend about $40 to $60 for it, or just hire a handyman, he might take off his shirt while he drills. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Is the wall actually concrete?

Could it be plaster?

What about drywall, or what is referred to as gypsum board or sheet rock?

There's all different kinds of wall anchors, but if it's concrete, like littlereddr posted, you'll need the masonry drill bit to make the hole. Then once the hole is drilled deep enough, insert a plug to put the screw in.
