I go up to Wisconsin again. The Aunt is coming up on 100 soon, so they treasure her. I'm gonna dig way into the new SK book (jk, I'm gonna get 100 pages in and crap out. smiling smiley My sister again, and when I get back, there's a ton of stuff due, which is fine, since I have a a ton of stuff due tomorrow anyway. Chocolate ice cream cures all that ails you. True story.
And Panna Cotta is a dessert made from mixing milk, cream, sugar and gelatin and letting it cool and get firm in the refrigerator. We sweeten our mixture with a little bit of honey as well, and then you can put fruit or granola or whatever you want on top. If you pour the mix into some nice glasses before cooling it, then it looks really nice on the table when you serve it. I highly recommend it next time you want to impress someone at the dinner table smiling smiley

Also, I actually envy that you're going to be with your Aunt when she turns 100 (if I'm understanding you correctly on that point). My Great-Aunt turned 100 over the summer, and I couldn't go see her for her Birthday because of a gig. I've actually missed a lot of family things I wanted to be at because of gigs... SUPER GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!

Okay, two things...

First, Ma got two free tickets to go see the Trans Siberian Orchestra next Wednesday down in Richmond, so we're definitely going to that.

Second, and most importantly, I've finally heard back from one of the girls at one of the dating sites! Her name's Amanda, she's Indian/Black/Caucasian, and she's very cute. We're planning on meeting either at one of the Open Mics or some other day when she's free soon. Naturally I'm really nervous, but at the same time I'm also really excited smiling smiley Who knows, if I'm lucky she may be able to be my Plus One to my sister's wedding next year! But if she's not interested in dating, at least maybe I'll gain a good friend.
But I'm hoping that she likes me enough to date tongue sticking out smiley

I feel all giddy now smiling bouncing smiley

Oh, and I had a very disconcerting dream last night, but miraculously I feel fine. I'll tell y'all about it later. I'm too excited right now to go back into it at this particular moment in time.

See girls like you Cheeky. smiling smiley you should never think otherwise. That's great news you made a connection. Let us know on the date how it went. You can't go wrong asking questions. Girls love to talk about themselves. tongue sticking out smiley

Have a great open mic tonight! smiling smiley *wubbies*

11/22/11 2:38 PM

Thanks, girls smiling smiley In all honesty, I think the main reason she responded at all was because of the Open Mic. She said on her profile that she's learning to play guitar and that it would be great if whomever messaged her could give her tips on it other than "practice every day". So when I messaged her I invited her out to the Open Mic so she could mingle with, talk to and observe other musicians doing what they do. But she did say that she would be interested in meeting elsewhere if she couldn't make it out tonight... So I'm making myself extra pretty tonight just in case she does show up grinning smiley And if she doesn't come, I'll just say it was all for Pat because I love him like that tongue sticking out smiley

11/23/11 5:30 AM

I hope Open Mic night went well and you And your family have a great Thanksgiving! smiling smiley

11/23/11 1:07 PM

Thanks, Rogue! The Open Mic was a good one. An old friend I haven't seen in years showed up out of the blue not even knowing there was an Open Mic at all. This is a guy that I used to play with at another Open Mic back when I was around thirteen or fourteen, so we go way back.

I hope you have a good Thanksgiving, too, my friend smiling smiley

Joan- Yes, those girls were very pretty smiling smiley And yes, I love the Muppet picture. It's one of my all time favorite Thanksgiving spoofs

MOAR GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

So I sent another message to Amanda yesterday through the dating site giving her a link to my FaceBook page and whatnot, and I am currently talking to her there this very second smiling bouncing smiley She sounds like she'd be a pretty cool person to hang out with smiling smiley I really hope I get to meet her soon...

UPDATE: We talked on FaceBook for about an hour earlier, and I really liked the vibe I got from her. We have plans to get together next Friday for lunch, so I'm going to try to go get my hair all nice and coiffed so I can look extra pretty tongue sticking out smiley
There might be a slight problem though... As I was looking at her page, I noticed that she thinks she has a date coming up with another guy, but she's not quite sure if that's what it is or not. So now I'm afraid to ask her if we're meeting just as new friends or if we have an actual "date" together... I don't want her getting the wrong impression of me one way or another. I'd certainly like it to be a date, but if it's not then I'll just have to be fine with it.

Also, we might not be going to see TSO after all. The tickets that Ma was telling me about were actually part of a drawing, so we probably won't be going. The chances of us winning are infinitesimally small, and we haven't heard back from the website yet. So yeah, probably no concert next week sad smiley

So how was everyone's Thanksgiving? Did you all have fun visiting with friends and family?

11/24/11 11:50 PM

Aw. sad smiley I was really jealous about the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. Sorry that won't work out. That would have been an amazing concert to see during the Holidays.
You need to try to see them some other time. Or have you seen them already?

Don't worry too much about your date on Friday. I mean you're getting to know a new person it sounds like a date. What is the difference if it's a friend date vs a real date? Would you do anything different? It's kinda like a blind date so you don't know really what to expect.

My Thanksgiving was good. smiling smiley We cooked all day and had a very nice dinner. I made a floral arraingment out of a pumpkin! We had a little pie for dessert and the boys washed dishes. tongue sticking out smiley Instead of going to the movies we watched Super 8 and it was great!!! I really liked it. Not too sweet and sappy but sad enough to touch the heart. I played with the dog and he tried to hump my arm. Then he had my arm in his jaws. Silly dog.

Have fun at 219 tomorrow/today!!!!! smiling smiley
I wish I could go and hang out. We really need to hang out! I haven't seen you since July. sad smiley

11/25/11 9:55 AM

I've actually seen TSO twice before, and they're always great live. Especially here on the east coast because we have the real TSO grinning smiley There's actually another band that tours the west coast while the original tours the east coast. They only tour during the winter, and one band just can't play all the shows that get booked. If you look at their tour schedule, you'll see two concerts on opposite sides of the continent on the same night.

So I'm talking to Amanda again right now on FaceBook smiling bouncing smiley I actually had to look up where we're supposed to meet because neither of us knew where it was hot smiley But I found it online so our date is still on smiling smiley And the band has a gig on the 10th nearby in town, so if she wants to get together again after we meet I'm going to invite her to that.

We've got more family coming tomorrow, but thankfully Bree and Kenny are staying another night to help keep me sane smiling smiley And everyone who's coming is staying at a hotel, so I don't have to give up my room for my grandmother this time grinning smiley

Hope all my Prowlettes and Prowlings have a great weekend! smiling smiley

11/25/11 4:47 PM

Thank you. smiling smiley you too. Let us know how 219 goes/went.
I'm going to be reading my last Millenium trilogy book tonight and tomorrow.
I'm also contacting a realtor for a condo to buy. This will give me something to do this weekend.
I'm still at work right now. No rest for the wicked I'm afraid.

11/25/11 8:57 PM

Yikes! I think this page blew up my cell phone .. with those word things.

Carry on and rock on there prowlman!

11/26/11 2:56 PM

Sorry I broke your phone there, Peace sad smiley

I hope you find someplace soon, Xanthe! Let me know how all that goes.

So the gig last night was pretty great smiling smiley Our friend Daphne was there playing sax with us again, and she was amazing. She and I were talking after the show, and I mentioned that I wished she was a full member of the band. She said that she would love to be, so I'm going to talk to the guys this week and see what they have to say about it.
And while we were tearing down after we were done, Pat and I were tlaking about something that happened on Tuesday which led him to start talking about all these different drummers he's played with. First he was telling me about drummers who were great guys, but terrible drummers, and then he talked about all these other truly great drummers he's played with. So I said "and now you're stuck with my sorry ass........................... Hey, I'm not hearing any arguement from you, you bastard!"
So he turns around, gives me that patented shit eating grin of his and says "eh, you'll do."

I love that guy tongue sticking out smiley

There's too many people in the house, but we're still expecting more sad smiley I'll be so glad on Monday when everyone's gone and I can have the house to myself for a little while.

11/26/11 10:30 PM

Super Awesome Update:

Like I said, we had some more family come into town to visit us for the evening, plus Bert and Jeff, so there were I think 18 people in total in the house earlier. There were also some important football games on, so half the people were watching them and the other half were eating dinner in the dining room. In short, no one was void of interaction, so I was able to slip away without being missed too much.
Anyway, after I was done eating, I went to look at my phone and I saw that Amanda had texted me. So I got all giddy and started texting back and forth with her, and after a while I asked if she would just like to talk instead, and she said yes smiling bouncing smiley
So I slipped away (as mentioned) upstairs to call her, and we ended up talking to each other for almost two hours, and we would have gone on longer if I didn't have to run downstairs to say goodbye to some people who were leaving early. And to make things even better, she does not have a date with anyone else coming up, so I'm the only one. And not only that, but she's excited to meet me, too smiling bouncing smiley We have a lot of the same interests and I was having a great time talking to her. Now I'm even more excited for Friday. Especially since she wants to go to the book stores in town with me after lunch. I can't possibly ask for a much better first date than that smiling smiley
And I finally told Ma about what's going on, but all she knows about how we met is that it was "online". I kind of failed to mention exactly where online it was tongue sticking out smiley

Oh, and this is important... When we were talking about music, she said that while she's not nearly as massive a NIN fan as I am, she still likes them and can name more than just one song, she knows that the name is Closer and not Fuck You Like an Animal, and that Johnny Cash didn't write Hurt, so she gained MAJOR bonus points there smiling smiley

I swear I'm as giddy as a little girl smiling bouncing smiley

11/26/11 11:24 PM

I'm counting three bouncy smileys. smiling smiley haha.

I'm glad you've met a nice sweet girl Keith. I hope everything goes great for Friday and that you won't be too nervous for your date. Maybe she can be your plus 1 for Bree's wedding.smiling smiley
I was hoping you could be my plus one for Bree's wedding (in a strictly platonic date plus 1) but things change of course.

It sounds like you have a new girlfriend there. grinning smiley

11/27/11 1:31 PM

Good job, Keith. Two hours of talking directly to someone and I'd of either passed out form exhaustion or made up some lame excuse to leave.

I wouldn't say that just yet... We still have to have our first date to see if she's as interested in me as I am in her and if she can stand to be around me for more than five minutes tongue sticking out smiley
But I'm still nervous about meeting her for that first time. I mean, I don't know whether to shake her hand, kiss her on the cheek, hug her or kiss her hand like The Continental...

The crazy thing was it didn't feel like two hours. It seemed like I dialed her number and was having to say goodbye and run downstairs after only a few minutes. Time just flew by and I didn't even realize it.

So all of our company is gone now and the three of us are the only ones left again. Thank God for a quiet house smiling smiley Now I just want it to be tomorrow already so I can be alone for a few hours. Yeah, that sounds nice...

11/27/11 3:23 PM

Oh good, you had a nice holiday. And it sounds like things are moving forward nicely with Amanda. *happy for you*

11/28/11 10:55 AM

Yeah, I'd say over all I had a pretty good holiday. I don't do well with large groups of people (all the noise and confusion messes with my head really bad, makes me confused and gives me mild panic attacks), but I think I was able to interact respectably with everyone.

And I had another two hour phone session with Amanda last night smiling smiley And so far I've only seen one thing that presents a minor problem...

She's squeamish with blood and needles, so I can't go checking my blood or giving myself shots in front of her. I'm really glad I mentioned my health issues last night. I would have hated to be on our first date and have her run out screaming after I pull my syringe and testing kit out. That would suck...

So what are all you wonderful people doing this week/weekend? Does anyone have anything planned?

11/28/11 8:36 PM

I'm so glad for you mah Prowly, that's wonderful news!smiling bouncing smiley Things as they going seems to be the great opportunity to get know someone who's interested too. You also did well telling her your health problem now. You're doing it just fine.

11/28/11 10:17 PM

Holy shit, I'm doing it right? That's a rare occasion, indeed tongue sticking out smiley

I thought it was important that she know ahead of time. I usually keep it to myself unless I feel it's important to share, and I definitely felt that this was important.

Also, remember I told you all about that amazing sax player who played with us the last two shows in Alexandria? Well, I'm going to be talking to the guys to see if they'd be interested in hiring her as a full time Blues Bucket. Doc's been saying for years that he wants a horn section, and this would be the perfect opportunity to get that started. I mentioned to Daphne that I wished she was in the band, and she said that she would love to be, so I'm going to pass that little tidbit on to Doc and Pat and see what they have to say. I really hope they say yes instead of give me a dozen bullshit reasons why we can't hire her. I mean, they certainly don't have anything negative to say about her. Seriously, they give this girl nothing but praise, and that's rare for them to do. So witsh me luck on that, too smiling smiley

11/29/11 11:04 AM

Hi Cheeks. smiling smiley
I hope open mic goes well tonight! *fingerscrossed* for your maybe horn section.
Hey! You want to go to Mayhem festival with me next year? grinning smiley

11/30/11 9:48 AM

Yes, I know you beat me to page 150 tongue sticking out smiley See? You're more popular than me! smiling bouncing smiley
If you're in town for Mayhem Fest, I'm sure that's something we could think about

Last night was... Weird. I mean it was... It was just fucking weird.
First off, it was the emptiest we've seen it in a long time in terms of patrons and musicians. And the one guitar player who got up wanted to play Purple Rain. I shit you not, here. So I had to stumble my way through the worst rendition of that song I've ever heard. Then we played Let's Get It On, but the only way you would have known that was by listening to the words. I've played that song a few different ways with Pat and the boys over the years, but this was just completely beyond left field last night. But I haven't even mentioned the worst thing yet...

So I'm standing at the table with my boys, Krista and our friend Dave between sets, and I walked over to where my bag was so I could check my blood. I was gone for thirty seconds, but by the time I got back, my phone had "mysteriously" disappeared. I was extra pissed because I had been in the middle of a conversation with Amanda. Pat denied having it (even after I stormed in on him in the bathroom and started giving him shit* in front of a bunch of other people), but I knew he had it. And my suspicions were beyond confirmed when it magically appeared on the table again.
I opened it up to reply to Amanda and I found that I had a brand new wallpaper...

A picture of Pat's fucking balls angry smiley

So I smacked his ass as hard as I could with one of my mallets, gave him a swift Pimp Slap, he pushed me into the wall, we laughed about it and got on with our evening. I love the guy, but he's still a complete bastard eye rolling smiley

Oh, and I'm happy to announce that my phone is now testicle free grinning smiley

*Pun not intended
