Hey, all! I'm sorry I wasn't on at all in the last two days, but my Internet wasn't working at all on Saturday and yesterday I was out most of the day. And oh, what a day it was. Allow me to elaborate...
That would be my brand new drum kit that I got yesterday afternoon

I got it from this store called Greenbriar, and the story (if you've never heard of them), is that they've been an online business for twelve years, but just opened up their first actual store a few weeks ago right here in town, and they're planning to open more around Virginia and maybe a few in California. It's a great place, so I'll be going back whenever I can.
The color, obviously, isn't what I walked in looking for. It's a classic blue marine pearl wrap, better illustrated here:
I was planning on getting it in a black sparkle, but they didn't have it in the store, but the one above was there. My parents loved it (especially my Pops), and after thinking about it for a while, I decided that I liked it, too. What makes it even cooler is that only forty of those kits exist in that color, and they
all belong to Greenbrier. They've done a lot of business with Gretsch over the years, so the company decided to make a limited run of that color just for them, and I got the only one that was in the store. Another awesome selling point was the fact that they knocked $50 off the price tag since it was the display model.
I got to play on them before deciding to get it, and I was shocked by how good they sounded. The kick drum is surprisingly punchy, and the toms sound amazing, so I feel like a jackass now for all the bitching I've done over the years
I also found out that I ended up getting something out of this set that I wanted from the beginning, which was maple shells. I thought they were made out of mahogany, which is a very soft wood that doesn't make for a very resonant drum. But man, these bitches sound great. I still have to play around with different heads on them to find what sounds best, but other than that I'm already happy with it, and I'm sure the boys will love it, too. But if Doc finds anything wrong with it, I swear I'm going to shove his bass up his ass backwards
Then after that, we went to Guitar Center so I could get a new carrying case for my snare which I've needed for a long time, and then we went to the movies. So all in all I'd say it was a pretty awesome day
Sow what about you all? How were your weekends?
