yep! tongue sticking out smiley it was mostly the former...he still had long hair

04/09/10 5:33 PM

As much as I want him to grow his hair back, I don't think he can. He kinda looks like he's starting to go bald. At least Kirk is growing it back and Robert has had long hair since he joined. I don't know if James could pull it off, though.

04/09/10 6:57 PM

*waves* hey Patrick!

my cousin met Lars on a flight years ago, said he was cool.

Yeah, receding hairlines + long hair = eww.

04/09/10 8:32 PM

yeah the hair needs to stay short now...just my opine. i think it's my age now that makes me say that. it just looks better on older guys, instead of long hair.

did i run you off P?

04/09/10 9:16 PM

I'm here.

Yep, Lars is going bald.

04/13/10 10:04 PM

Hey, I'm finally getting around to listening to that Opeth album you recommended!

04/13/10 10:05 PM

Which one, Blackwater Park or Watershed?

04/13/10 10:04 PM

Watershed

The transition between the first and second song was quite unexpected (but awesome)

04/13/10 10:35 PM

Watershed is the best one to start with. It captures both their mellow and aggressive sides perfectly. The death growls Still Life and Ghost Reveries are slightly more important, but the clean vocals on those albums are still dominant. My Arms Your Hears, Blackwater Park, and Deliverance are the heaviest ones. The first two albums, Orchid and Morningrise, respectively, are more black metal-ish and have fewer clean vocals than usual. Damnation is pretty much all quiet songs.

If you like Mikael Akerfeldt's death growl, check out his side band, Bloodbath. Completely different from Opeth. No clean vocals, almost no acoustic guitars, shorter and faster songs, just straight-up death metal.

04/13/10 10:43 PM

Awesome info. I think I might check out Blackwater Park next.

Are you a fan of Iron Maiden?

04/13/10 11:04 PM

They're alright. I don't listen to a lot of power metal bacause most of the bands appear to me as Iron Maiden clones. The closest thing to power metal I listen to frequently is Strapping Young Lad (Devin Townsend's clean vocal is kinda power-ish). Pantera's third album, which is called Power Metal, is pretty much a power metal record. Though Phil Anselmo would later drop his power vocal after Cowboys From Hell. Judas Priest partially invented power metal. Dream Theater is kinda power-ish. You might or might not recognize Dragonforce's song "Through The Fire And Flames" from Guitar Hero, and pretty much all of their songs are like it.

04/15/10 12:27 AM

Oh man, that song killed just about everybody on GH3....great song though!
