Okay, story time!
For those who haven't seen my twitter, I went to today's main Diamond Jubilee event[celebrating the 60 years of Elizabeth II being Queen], the boat pageant on the Thames, in which the queen rides one of the front boats. I have pictures, but I will get them on the computer later; I just got back about half an hour ago.
I almost got pissed when my mother made me wear my raincoat over my Opeth shirt, but she said I could leave it open. Got off at the London Bridge station, where I noticed that all of the entrances to the Thames were fenced off with cops everywhere, so I followed a crowd of people around a church (where bells were clashing chaotically) down a long and twisting path to the nearest available entrance to see the boats. So I eventually made it to a small park on the south bank on the Thames, and it was fucking crowded. I found a place to stand and waited for about two hours for the boats to come with a screen not too far behind me partially obscured by trees. Finally the boats started to come, and I had an impossible time to get pictures and had to jump up and down to see the fucking boats. Then I noticed there was a closer spot, so I got there. Though I still had to jump up and down a bit and stretch my arms out to get even half-decent pics.
Eventually I got bored and wanted to get something to eat. But it was £5.75 for a fucking cheeseburger. Most ridiculous price I have seen in a while. I also noticed that there were long lines for the portable toilets and long lines for Starbucks as well. So I just left and started walking towards Waterloo in the fucking rain, because the buses seem to be down in the area, but after struggling through crowds that were hardly moving, I noticed the damn station was closed and had to continue walking in the rain to Westminster. Fortunately the cameras still work (I use two). So I decided to take the Jubilee Line (tube/metro/subway) to the mall to pee and get something at the food court, but it was still raining like fuck, so I transferred for the Central Line instead. I finally make it home, and surprise surprise, the rain has pretty much died down.
So, it was overall a half-decent time. I will post pictures later, sometime after I get them on the computer.
