ha! I bought so much shit from Object. Love that concept... I still have my nin 'purse'. As I remember I got banned from the dboard for a time... hmmm wonder what that was about...? lol
I modeled my own webpage at the time from an idea that this ^^ site gave me - I loved how the flash changed colors like it was alive... i spent so many hours modifying a code for a flash movie that looked like an aurora and moved with the mouse...

ah yes, memories.
thanks kier smiling smiley
*VC*

I also loved that the photos posted used to be HUGE and always had the date on them! hehe

Google is celebrating 10 years of existance, and in the process is giving people the opportunity to google search the way it was in January 2001. So I did a search for nine inch nails, and this came up:

Those were the days. Shit was still tech savvy then. nothing like current interaction though...

aww....i kinda miss that.

Well if we're going to be all nostalgic then here's another old nin site. [web.archive.org]

lol...

"This site requires Flash 4..."

Wow. Even though it hasn't been that long, just seeing those old sites brought back some amazing memories. I could remember things that were happening at the time as I would religiously check those sites, particularly the With Teeth site. I still remember people parading around the dorms with their anti-Bush shirts, McJob stickers, and how I couldn't wait for With Teeth to come out. Good post.

I didn't think it was possible to get banned from the old boards, what with there being absolutely NO moderation existing there.

I wasn't a fan in 2001, but I got into NIN around the time of 2004 and I remembered absolutely loving Trent's quirky (but sometimes serious) responses in the Access section.

I like the new website though, the white background and somewhat odd font of the old W_T site kinda bugged me a bit.

how do you do this "10 year ago" google search?

awesome

Another way to see things as they were is to use Wayback.com. Here's the address to view some past incarnations of Nin.com. Some of the links work, some don't. As a relative newbie, it was fun for me.

god yes I remember when that 2001 site first went up and I was thinking "god damn, I love that I love a band that has a site like this!"

01/18/09 7:21 PM

I too wish I could relive the 2001 version of nin.com.......which was great at the time but now i'm looking foward to the future versions of nin.com till there is no more nin.com ever (which i hope doesn't happen) but hey I could be wrong....

OMG MEMORIES...I had a hell of a time navigating this one at first. I remeber trying to find the "back" buttons LMAO...I don't know if this one linked to it or not but I remember one that linked to NOTHING RECORDS (which was all in black and white) with a mix of "What Trent's currently listening too". It was Bowie, of course, and um...Aphex Twin and I can't remember who else was on it.

I never joined/participated in the Spiral though. I put in a funny fake profile once (something about a schizophrenic or something crazy shit like that, I was just farting around, but didn't hang out there at all. I went in once looked around and left (I was kind of afraid of NIN at that time, despite listen to the music and loving it HA HA HA HA I was a totally sheltered chicken shit!) AND the SPIRAL was FREE then, like the forum is now.

There was also an incarnation of NIN.com that was JUST white with black type and there were posts...I remember one particularly funny post (you could see the studio and stuff - I don't know what they were working on at the time) but there was a post from someone claiming to be Trent's MOM, telling him to "CLEAN HIS ROOM IT'S A MESS!" , and he posted back something to the effect of "yeah, I guess I better...it is pretty bad."

And then the next time I came back was 2007 so...GAD...time flies huh? Thanks for posting that link it's really cool! smiling smiley

Um... what' this all about? Um...I can't play this re-live game since I had no clue who Trent was or NIN. I've only discovered the music about a year ago, thanks to the gorgeous "With Teeth" music CD.

Good times!

anyone else here down to start a petition for trent to do a fragile revisited tour or something of the sort?

the fragile (both the album and song) are IMO the pinnacle of trent's work, with just about everything else he's done following not too far behind

and sadly it didnt get the recognition it deserved at the time. I don't know about everyone else, but a good number of my close friends who are into nine inch nails about as much as i am seem to agree the fragile was one hell of an album

...and to think i didnt really start listening to them until the with teeth era :\

saw my first show about a year ago in seattle, had a kickass time and i can rest knowing i saw them at least once before they started winding down, but i know i could die a happy man if i got a final opportunity to see a live performance of that era

I wasn't a fan of NIN in 2001 (such a shame. . . )
But that is one beautifully designed site.
Even just looking at it now, with no previous memories of it is making me smile.

04/06/09 8:13 AM

^LOL, I feel the same way. If only I'd been born about ten years earlier... :-)

04/09/09 12:04 PM

Wow, that brings back a lot of old memories. I used to be on that site every day.

04/09/09 4:02 PM

Wow, never seen this before, it's awesome! I'm obsessed with barcodes, so I really love the front menu!
