evelynmachine member Drum Machinist Joined: 05/06/08 Location: oshawa Posts: 52	i think it would be kinda neat to be able to add friends, and use apps on here, like a facebook/myspace sort of deal. like... being able to put a flash music player on my profile, for instance, would kick serious ass. or maybe some html.... this site is already taking over the majority of my days.... it might as well be my sole reason for existing. anyone else think this is a good idea? or am i all alone here?

It would also be cool if you could press a button when you find a thread you like, and it compiles a list of your favorite threads. That way I can just go to that list and click on all the threads I frequent the most. If that makes any sense...

We have no desire to create a NIN social network, but the ability to watch what specific people (your friends) are doing will be a really helpful feature when the site expands to include photo and video aggregation. As for apps, eventually the profiles will become more customizable and also allow ways to embed flash players and things like that. As for notification if people reply to your post, we may be able to get that set up via email at some point, but for now the new RSS capabilities give you a lot of options for being notified when people have responded to your post. You could even use an RSS email subscription service to set up email notifications for specific threads.

Please don't misunderstand me; the more complex the site becomes will eventually lead to more users which will eventually lead to more servers/equipment which will eventually lead to more maintenance and up-keep and then NIN.com will become either ad-supported or user paid for - which would totally suck.
