99% is exagerated but yes i agree. People don't understand the base of remixing, and so most of the time is distorted crap, attempted mashups with just putting both songs on top of each other, god awful covers and people just re-arranging the parts of the song. Onlt few people make something original, something of their own. Such as me, LISTEN TO MY REMIXES CUZ IM THE BEST GIVE ME 100 NOW CUZ IM THE BEST LISTEN PLZ PLZ PLZ I WILL LOVE YOU IF YOU DO LISTEN NOW. But don't you dare call me a spam.

Hey probably already been asked a couple of times. But does anyone know what multi-tracks are out there?

Already have The Slip, Year-Zero, and Ghost. I also have Only. So if anyone can help me thank you.

I am curious what you'd say about this remix then: remix.nin.com (Naked In This Twilight feat. Nata)

Hola everyone NIN

I would like to know where I can find the NIN-The Perect Drug multitrack version for remix? That is my fave NIN song from the Lost Highway soundtrack and would be a real honor to me to be able to remix it and post it here for all of you to enjoy and make comments about it. A link to the multitrack version will be greatly appreciated, thx and hope to see NIN Live playing here in Puerto Rico someday!!!!

This website is really starting to piss me off. What is it with people being the most pretentious assholes just making the atmosphere on this website worse. First of all, there are the obvious trolls who give low ratings to high rated ones, and high ratings to low rated remixes. Look, i know you fell like this is some fucking government where we leave teh weak to die while the others kiss the ass of the powerful, but no, you make a good remix, you get a good rating, you make a bad remix, you get a bad rating, end of story, keep doing that and we'll get "Highest rated today" filled with distorted shit, terrible mash ups and people who just added an atmosphere loop to a song. There is also people who just rate, but never comment, which isn't that bad, but it helps to know what you've done so wrong when your remix is rated 72, you have 2 comment but 89 ratings, leading me to the abscence of constructive comments on this website. Seriously, try and add a bit more to "Nice", "Good", "I like", it just feels like you kissing ass to get people to listen to your remixes. A little sentence to tell us what's good and what's bad will help. Which reminds me, a user (no names cited) added me on msn a few weeks ago, and a go at me because i gave his remix a 86 but left a constructive comment telling him what was good, and what was bad. He told me i was a hater, and an outsider of the nin community, because i didn't give his remix a 100 and didn't take a part in the general ass kissing of his remix. I'm sorry but seriously, what the fuck? His remark was that i should have gave his remix a 100 because that's how it works on the website and that he put so much effort in making that remix that it made it perfect. Maybe remix.nin is a community, but that doesn't mean give everybody a 100 and leave them useless unoriginal comments instead of expressing yourself and giving people a rating that goes with what you thought of the remix, not every remix is perfect, i will give 100 to a remix i really loved, sounds flawless to me and has every criteria of a remix/cover, and i will say it in the comments. There are more ratings than 0 and 100, giving a 86 means i took a serious listen to your remix, and my comment means i thought a lot about it. So fuck you, i hope it was fun giving all my remixes a 0.

01/16/10 8:03 AM

I agree, comments would be really nice. I'm not the best at remixing by any means but I have a song that has a 26 rating, only 3 people have rated, and there are no comments so I'm like what did I do wrong? Especially when I listen and think it may be one of my best remixes.

And my best is a 78, but I have no idea why though. People need to verbalize.

01/16/10 9:38 AM

I must agree with both of you, Johnny_Ripper and Cadair8. People, not only here but everywhere should not only verbalize but explain the "why" of the things they are rating or for that matter commenting about. I've been in some nice and very bad message boards as well. And learned from the good ones that one must explain in words, without leaving details to the people you are trying to communicate with. I don't post much, but when I do, always try my best to explain the "whys" and the "whats" of whatever theme or thread I'm participating in. Still haven't heard any of the remixes nor have I done any, yet. This coming week will start listening to some of the remixes and of course, leaving comments with some sense, because that's another problem, some just leave stupid/senseless comments, those ones I really don't care about. But is really screwed up when people just say "don't like it" "sounds awful" "bad remix" "he/she killed the original song". But they don't explain their feelings. Anyway, hope people learn how to REALLY Communicate with others. At the end, we are all hardcore NIN fans, thus we are supposed to get along but most important, respect others jobs and opinions. The very first remixes I will take a listen to is, of course, you two guys, Johnny_Ripper and Cadair8.

01/16/10 9:42 AM

Ohhh and I almost forgot, Johnny_Ripper & Cadair8 and others that would care about my request. Do you know where I can get the multitrack version of The Perfect Drug?? That's one song I dreamed of one day remix. Thnx in advanced :-)

01/16/10 2:00 PM

Except from trolling I think the rating system itself contains some possibilities for manipulation or misinterpretation.
For example the definition of what is good and what not is very flexible (I would also say 80+ is very high/good, but obviously the opinions differ there) and the "ratingspace" (0 - 100) is very far. Compared with youtube (1-5 and clear definitions what the single numbers mean, 1=Öde, 5=Genial!) its maybe a bit to open? Or maybe a simple likes funktion could be more helpful?
As I posted somewhen earlier in this thread I often have the problem that I dont want to be unjust which ends with not rating at all.

The results of the ratingsystem used here do not work for me too, I near to never listen to the highest rated today. But to the newest remixes (and Im reading this thread and click on links)

01/18/10 5:48 AM

Well I think that a very good remix would make its way to the mass audience anyway. I mean, all these ratings at remix.nin.com are just like markers intended to give some reference to the author of the remix, they are not points for a grand prize competition or something. Correct me if I'm wrong. That's why I don't bother worrying how well my mixes go within remix.nin.com When I uploaded my In This Twilight remix, it went from 95 and + to 91 and below. And after some adequate ratings, it must've been rated 0 by somebody, because it went down quickly. Doesn't bother me, for me it's more important that I received some really touching comments, from people who obviously got into my idea by 100%. That's what makes me feel good. That's what I think comments are for. I totally agree that comments should be explainable, but not digging into some technical stuff and becoming tutorials of how to make good remixes, this is something that each one learns alone, nobody can teach you that. And it may sound immodest but for example I'm pretty aware of my capabilities because I've spent years of digging and learning stuff and I know I've made a remix that's good and I found that there are other people who felt the same way while listening to it. Don't care about the ratings. I create stuff for my own personal satisfaction. When I try to force attention I usually feel like I'm under a giant glass cup or something and nobody hears what I'm saying, nor sees what I want to show. So I learned to let things find their place naturally. I used to share this "ratings disappointment" though... I usually expect more attention for the stuff I upload, but that's just an ego mindgame I guess smiling smiley

@ vampiro001, I think I saw The Perfect Drug tracks at some of the unofficial remix websites. I'll try to look it up for you.

Edit: vampiro001, you have a PM.

Obviously, as a reassertion of what I said above is the huge silence gap after most of my comments. I mean in general, not only here in this forum. Sometimes I REALLY feel like I'm the Invisible Man.

01/24/10 12:44 PM

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place but I have always wanted to loop "Pinion" the loud guitar part near the end. To a house or a club beat. Just a really dark and ominous hypnotic sound.

Has anybody tried this or done this yet?

01/25/10 7:10 AM

I agree with johnny_ripper. Most people at remix.nin.com are lazy to write a comment.
And there are much people downrating the remixes without saying why...

it seems a "I like your mix" is the best most people have time to comment. Well I think it would help the remixer much if you write "why" you love the remix.
Or when you downrate it , why you downrate... write at least something...

In this rating system the mix pops up only if you rate it in the beginning with 100
so people will realize, that something "new" is there...
At least i start to watch with "Highest rated overall (Fan mixes only)
to see what's new and of course good... i don't want to listen to all mashups
or just different volumes at some stems.

then people downrate it because they want their mixes up top...

I mean think a little about that. Rate the mixes fair... and if you like them:

comment a little on them. The remixers don't get any money out of that and it's their time and love spent on the songs... if you just downrate it without even saying why, its a big disrispect of the work the remixer done...

people are lazy if gets to rating and votes... just take this

my Burn remix has 19260 listens , 1345 Ratings and i guess 90 comments...

so you can calculate how many people write instead of just downloading...

So let the comments come... and please RATE !!!!!!

Thank you.

TweakerRay

01/26/10 1:27 AM

Oh and thanks to anyone who rated my "LAST" remix from 92 to 84 !!! Thanks a lot...

lol

Your complaining because you only have 90 comments on one remix? Jesus.. I wish some of mine had more than just one comment. Regardless.. it all depends on how much you take it to heart.. personally i don't and neither care about the rating system

..but, over-selling, over-advertising yourself and basically complaining won't exactly open the flood gates. There is more to life...really...and I do realise how easy it is to make multiple accounts in order to rate your mixes higher.. and I do see the same remixes constantly every time i go to the remix site.. So i agree with the original topic.. some of the best remixes out there are the ones not in the 85+ you just have to ignore what is seemly and dig deep.

01/29/10 8:59 AM

@reaps08: I see your point if you dont get any comment at all... but how could you if there are these people who downrate a remix without saying why... if your remix gets downrated no one will see it. I agree with you that the rating system isnt the best because the so called "best overall" stay there a long time and new ones have nearly no chance to get attention. So i hope you see my point, I am just writing, that i cant understand this downrating without commenting. Its just that every remixer puts time and work in his remix.
If it just gets bad rates it doesnt help the remixer... i dont care if you dont like my remixes and rate it down , thats taste in the end ...

but what i demand is, that if you dont like something or feel something is wrong with that remix , at least write why you downrate it...

I know that there is more in life than my remixes, and also i know that the ratingsystem can be easily manipulated and thats what i think people have to realize...

As i wrote above with that numbers i just wanted to show how many people listen, but dont take the time to write something...

i mean you listen to the remix, why the hell cant you write a comment while you listen...
i do that a lot, when i hear new remixes...

ps send me the link to your remixes and i would like to listen to them...

Cheers TweakerRay

Seems to me that people are not as diligent in commenting as they were when remix launched.

01/29/10 12:29 PM

Well the site itself is in a bit of a slump..no updates..still plagued by bugs. Same remixes everyday. I guess to a casual fan it probably doesn't hold the appeal it once had.

@ Tweakeray - Like i said, comments are hard to come by for some compared to others..it's just not that bigger a deal for me.

Hell the only thing that bothers me is that half my remixes don't come up on the search function.. so it's little wonder they won't be heard. Anywhoo.. have a good weekend.

Im trying to get into the whole remixing thing. Ive done a couple of joke ones for a play around, just to get to grips with all the files really.

Im so poor at the moment.

Does any one have any tips? or should I let my imagination just run wild? It's so fun though.

Big props to Trent and the other artists letting us mess their songs up. grinning smiley

Does anybody else here think that there should be a tagging system in remix.nin.com? For example, if I were to make a remix then it has to be tagged with what song the remix is of. I think it'd be really convenient for searching that way.

By the way, if somebody can tell me the title of a LITS remix that starts off with a xylophone, please please PLEASE tell me.

The only mix that I found with xylophone is 'Interpolation' ... but this is not a remix of 'LITS' is something between 'Driver down' and 'Pilgrimage' ... and also is tiny-little mix (just 0.58"winking smiley!

Hi! you must go to remix section, and click on 'Listen', then click in 'search or browse by' and fill the space with 'we're in this together' and search... There are 20 mixes, look if your favorite mix is there (I hope so!)

There are new multitracks just posted on remix for music from The Social Network soundtrack. And...a remix contest!

REMIX CONTEST: Two tracks from the score are now available as multitracks at the NIN remix community [remix.nin.com] . Download them and start remixing, we'll be posting all the details of the remix contest later today. Grand prize will be a flight to LA (if necessary) next week to meet Trent and Atticus. You'll ...also get to see the film opening night. More info soon.

09/22/10 7:21 PM

so is this only for american remixers, i mean, the flight to the meet & greet? i'm in oz, but will try my hand at a mix all the same, and would likely not win the contest anyway if history always repeats grinning smiley

so far the movie has 100% on rotten tomatoes, good sign perhaps?
