It's a style code...I'd have to dig around and find the exact title but I don't think that is it.

I haven't used it (or check to see if it is still working) since I upgraded to the latest FF.

I'll check into it.

Funny. I have a "built in" ignore system. It's amazing what can happen when you just skip over posts or avoid threads you know is going to be slam full of dumbasses.

I think what works best is a combination of both. The built-in system is gold once you realise the same dumbfucks congregate together in the same threads. Don't have to look at all. However, they do post elsewhere & an ignore list is beneficial. (That may mean we all spend too much time on here, though.)

10/01/08 11:44 AM

I think it'd be nice to show which users were currently on the forum, or at least within a set number of minutes. Like 5 or 10 maybe. Dunno about anyone else, but I just think that'd be kinda cool knowing who was on and when. But that might just be me. Just thought I'd suggest it, though. smiling smiley If it hasn't already, that is..

See, I don't even want to use the energy to scroll past them.

I'm just lazy like that...hee.

Or just having to see their avi makes me pissy.

I know what you mean. I used to have someone on my ignore list. The best part about it is you KNOW you won't get a pm from them or whatever.
But this thread is a prime example of skipping over bullshit:
NIN chat

you may want to add a rule about discussing Trent, and the bands personal life....

10/02/08 12:50 AM

I think there should be a topic on what we don't like about NIN.

that was sweet.

I merged all the suggestion threads into one single thread. Let's keep all other suggestions in this thread.

Wow... in the course of three months, there are nearly 300 posts in this thread. And I haven't even looked in any other suggestions areas. My recommendation is that until the forum is a little older and more stable, rather than just one confusing clusterf*cked thread of suggestions, it might be best to temporarily open an entire forum or sub-forum for suggestions.
kdplayer mentioned the use of polls; I would agree. Polls tend to cut back on the number of repeated request. (For example, in this thread there are several requests for a 'new post' button,so a decent poll would be "How useful would a New Post button be, 1-not useful 2-somewhat useful 3-greatly useful.) Or for ranking purposes, a poll similar to "What feature is most needed, 1-New Post button 2-Reply button 3-black background 4-Ignore funtion."

no. one has to deal with mods no matter if one likes them or not. it would be to easy to say "but i had no chance to see the warning since i have this mod on ignore!".

Hey... If they're stupid enough to block a moderator, and stupid enough to cause trouble enough to get a warning, possibly several different warnings from different moderators, and are stupid enough to complain that they never saw the warnings, then they're probably stupid enough to be elected president, so ban them anyway and save us all the stupidity.

OK, maybe this is a dumb thing to say or whatever but when you mod's crash a thread, can't you just erase it, like it never existed? Instead we have to see them forever, just sort of sitting there, taking up space. sort of bugs me.
Actually, I sorta enjoy the Vlad the Impaler feel of leaving those threads up for all to see.

10/03/08 5:44 PM

These issues are better addressed in the Moderation Thread.

We need this! I have gotten PM's and never knew it because I rarely come here.

This is another thing I'd like to see. Swindley, are the site Admins working on this?

Too lazy to look through this entired thread to see if these 2 things have been suggested...

It would be nice if we could:

1. Have the ability to DELETE our own posts

2. Have the ability to make POLLS

I like the first idea, it's bothersome to take up space on some heavily edited thread to read "Edited 18 times" on a blank post.

better yet, remove the edit function. We all make spelling errors, big deal!

More importantly, I'm against the ignore function.

*Sees your crazy looks*

Anywho, this should be discussed more by us. And, the powers that be; they should consider the intent of this forum being added as an extra feature to the main page. I think the big cheese wanted someplace more welcoming and interactive.

We shouldn't forget that we're not the only nin fans. And also remember TR is reaching more new fans with his music and mad juggling skilz.

What is an album discussion thread going to look like to someone new? Two, three groups having different conversations all mashed together?

It's too easy to ignore a post you don't agree with. It's childish to deal with different opinions like that. Grow up, this site belongs to everyone and no-one. Deal with it!

10/06/08 12:51 PM

This, im sure, has been said but i can't be bothered reading all 10 pages of this.

Subscription features for threads.

ie. updates when new posts have been made.

since this is not the "real" life, where one has to deal with all kinds of morons, i think it would make forum life much easier for everybody (incl. mods and admins) if one has the option to completely ignore forum members who are simply annoying. as a result less useless fights, less stress, and a relaxed forum experience for those of us who waste enough energy to deal with annoying people face to face. this function is the only thing i'll miss from the spiral.

I know there are already one million threads in existance on nin.com, but where is the GLBT thread? I would like to see that in existance and meet the gay nin fan community. Maybe the community is small and NIN doesn't have a big gay following? I don't know. I would read the GLBT thread everyday if I could find it. So somebody out there start a new thread in the party room! smiling bouncing smiley

I'm 14 and have been an avid Nin fan since I first heard the Downward Spiral when I was 8. I got gen adm tickets to Nashville Halloween show, and am going to work my way to the front. I was wondering if my 40 year old dad could handle it (he's in pretty good shape), because I can (I survived the front of Rage Against The Machine at lollapalooza). Thanks

A 14-year-old boy with a mere 4 posts to his name asks a reaching out, introduction-type question involving his Father. Maybe he'd have liked a few more replies or comments to reassure Dad. And if he was even bragging just a little, he should. That's a hellofathing to attend a concert with your Father when many are largely absent. Maybe he'll venture in here, too. I look forward to reading about their concert experience.

The human touch can be far more satisfying than reading a page chock-full of whatever. Slam-dunking his thread was a poor move to a young boy new to a fan forum, sometimes even intimidating. There's a lot of youth here so give them a chance, it won't hurt.

I think that thread is some ETS thing carried over, meant as kind of an inside joke as much as a community or support forum...at least that's what I got out of it. Or maybe it's the more 'lighthearted' queer thread, I don't know.

"HUMOR?! We will have no humor HERE!" (and yes, I'm making fun of myself.)

Anyway, there's this one, also - which is in the community forums. winking smiley

I hear your point Dori, but suppose I'm being a unsubtle moronsmiling bouncing smiley on this thread, and you wisely ignore metongue sticking out smiley. Then, on another thread, we're both ignoring each other, but posting more or less the same thing (hypothetically agreeing with each othersmileys with beer). This is going to be shitty to someone who hasn't wised-up to ignore me (or you, or both of us) yet, plus it'll take up space without adding anythingthumbs down (like most of my posts).

Would an environmental ignore function be possible (like selecting to ignore a person on a thread, chat, sub forum)? Or is this an all or nothing deal?

10/12/08 11:28 PM

you know, it's kind of hard to get around over here. from the top of the page, if you have to go back on a long thread, you can't really see the page numbers. the bottom numbers are legible but you have to scroll all the way down to see what you're doing. Also, you can't go to the last post if you're already in the forum.

Is there a way to suspend privileges for pictures when assholes do this stupid shit to a thread? [forum.nin.com]
I mean, for fucks sake. The same picture over and over again is such a pain in the ass.

10/14/08 11:16 AM

I'm too lazy to scroll thought this entire thread in case this idea has already come up...

There should be a limit on how many threads people can start in a given amount of time. Maybe then, people would start threads wisely or search for a pre-existing thread before hitting the start new thread button. The amount of unnecessary, go-nowhere, or Trent-focused threads, is insane.

SERIOUSLY, stop. thumbs down

10/12/08 10:30 PM

I miss those.. please add them grinning smiley

mod edit: question is - are you going to add polls to threads? (merged threads)
