hello everyone

Regarding NIN-BDO 09, is it a good thing or bad thing? It's just a thing that might happen and hopefully I will have plenty of time to come to terms with it once and if it is confirmed. (I can understand why NIN would choose to do BDO so I guess I will put up with masses of people and summer heat)

BAD!! I never want to see a band I like at the BDO. The crowds are full of wankers.

They will limited on where the side shows can be- Lees and West dont let the headliners fill arena shows outside of their precious festival grounds. Yah, the Myer Music Bowl would be a venue option (I dont know what the Sydney equivalent is), but the recent venue preference of arenas in the US may indicate they like indoor venues for their bad ass production.

RATM was the biggest fuck head crowd I have had the displeasure of being a part of.

I'd imagine they'd play the Hordern in Sydney. Trent seems to like the place.

To be perfectly honest, I'd love to see them play The Forum in Melbs. Bigger than The Paltro, but still all old school and badarse and whatnot. Saw The Presets there in June and totally lost my shit.

Thats a great venue.

Id be happy with anywhere thats NOT an arena, but Im hard to please. The Sydney Entertainment Centre is what I couldnt think of before, thats sort of the size of the Music Bowl, yah? Ill just keep my fingers crossed for an acoustic show at the Opera House winking smiley

I think the right person was chosen to be mod...

It would be so disappointing if NIN played BDO...impossible to get a good view. I totally agree that the Forum in Melbourne would be the best venue, or even the Metro would be great again. The smaller the venue the better.
I wish there was some place where we could communicate to NIN to give our opinion that BDO sucks, and for the sake of true fans (who will not get to see their fav band due to dickheads in the pit) to please not play there.

Idea: What if we bombard the NIN-camp with anti-BDO messages. I have found an email on the remix website under Trent's details - *NO NO NO*
I sent an email to that address pleading for them not to do the BDO. If quite a few Aussies send similar messages they may reconsider (if it hasn't been set in concrete yet).

What do you think? Perhaps I'm being too idealistic

Or kill a few birds with one stone
Email the organisers of the BDO and tell them they suck. Repeatedly.
Hopefully, they will be too busy crying to remember to 'organise' next year's show.

It is too late in the game, the line up for 2009 will be basically finalised by now. Remember in past years the headline acts were announcing their solo show around this time (Tool, RATM)

Also, I don't think email bombing will go down too well.

What other rumours have people heard for BDO? I hear Radiohead and Neil Young (wtf) a lot.

Let's not bombard any email addresses eh?

And the Metro is a stinking piss hole.

Ok, Ok...I'm just so devastated that they may play BDO...that would really suck. God I hope those rumours are false, but the fact they have been playing so many festivals lately doesn't give me much hope. Lets at least hope they would play some shows outside of the BDO while in Aust.

In terms of the Metro...I agree it has some flaws, but I still prefer small venues and would prefer the Metro a million times more than crappy BDO

I don't know why people are so against seeing them with a large crowd? NIN can't sell out an arena style venue by themselves in Aus, so why not do BDO where they can. The atmosphere would be quite amazing given how good some of the setlists have been.

08/18/08 8:59 PM

I hope they don't play BDO either. The older I get the less tolerant I am of these type of events. I tend to end up near the back just watching the big screens and the sound is often patchy. My partner went to the last BDO in Melbourne and thought the venue was fucking appalling - hot dustbowl.

I saw NIN and QOTSA at the Metro. I didn't mind that venue. I stood on the steps by the sound desk and could see perfectly over the heads of everyone in front (I am a short-ass).

My complaint with festivals is that its too much of a shitfight to get a good spot - anyone tried to get into the D barrier in recent years? - and at the end of a long hot day is not where I want to see my favourite band.

08/18/08 11:20 PM

I think the ideal situation, for myself, would be to see them at a sideshow THEN at BDO. Because I could get the focused Trent, with good sound, then I could get massively high Trent who .... oh wait.

08/19/08 12:28 AM

ZING!

08/19/08 1:10 AM

The best part about BDO - NIN is the fact that all of my NIN-hating friends will have to sit through it.

08/19/08 1:26 AM

I'd go see NIN at the Big Day Out, but i'd rather there was a normal tour because as mentioned, it's much harder to enjoy a show when it's part of a whole day thing, you have trouble getting a good spot, there's assholes galore and probably big limits on length of the set and the production.

Personally, i'd rather pay double and travel to Aussie to see a show than just go up to Auckland and see BDO.

Oh by the way hey! First post on here. New Zealanders welcome I hope.

Back in 2000 NIN won a lot of new fans at BDO or converted some of the more casual fans into nutters.

The recent awesomeness of setlists would be totally lost on a BDO crowd. I cant see people appreciating anything off Ghosts while refraining to shout wanker comments and climb trees or whatever the riff raff do. The recent festivals are in some of the biggest cities in the US.. where the masses are going to see Kanye but there are enough people aside from that who want to see NIN.

coles22- Ill catch you soon!

Were they upset in 2005 when they found out NIN were no longer about the drunken falling about?
