Ah, upon double checking with real news sources (instead of the friend that originally told me), I find I was wrong. The financial problems for the Crowne started way before the flood, related to their parent company, so the whole elevator thing is peanuts in comparison:

It is the city's ONLY full service downtown hotel (if you don't count the roach residences), is physically attached to the front/side of the US Cellular Center and features the only "presidential" suites in CR. It's where Bushie boy and every big-wig that's ever come through CR stays. It's room rentals are presumed for the artists that the Five Seasons Center books (backstage elevators straight to your room, from what I've heard). That's why my presumption is that's where they'd stay if they were staying. I have no actual evidence, which is why I said "I guess".
The actual hotel entrance pictured in that story is directly under the Center's front facing. The entrance to the center/seating area is to the left of that. Here's a better overall building pic (and more details on the financial woes--if the boys are staying the night, they better be staying somewhere else, from the sound of it):

There's the Clarion out on the southwest side. That used to be a Sheraton and quit paying the franchise fees. Actually a really primo hotel, even if the owner is a bit of a prig (I've met him; he's a sports snob, if such a thing were to exist). I stayed there. It was a nice room with good service, good heater/windows and it wasn't anywhere near one of their executive or luxury suites. I'd go for that one if I were them. Probably a moot point, since they're probably already reserved somewhere, anywhere they wouldn't be expected to be, I'm sure. Eh, off topic anyway. Or are we? Still talking about NIN and Iowa, right?
