would anyone here be ok with me asking them questions for my sociology paper? my paper is on wiccans, more so on wiccan women. i just would like to ask whoever is willing some questions. they can pm me or email me acommon_misconception@yahoo.com
my paper is due tuesday but i'm still gathering personal data from other sources(people, places and such) so anyone who is willing to chat and share their experiences would really help me out. even if you are no longer wiccan, but used to be, that would still help. thanks guys!

I attend an Episcopal church and identify as Christian, and have for many years, but the bulk of my study and spiritual time is spent in Qabalah and Hermeticism and their various permutations which are rooted in Christianity, but deviate significantly. I've read Blavatsky and Crowley (who made a lot of sense in his younger days, but quickly dove right off the deep end), but I'm kind of flailing right now, not sure where to go next to study. I haven't studied "practical" Qabalah, which is the "magical" portion (actually more like conjuring spirits), and I'm not even sure that it is in line with the true texts and tradition, or if it's the crap made up by the charlatans that populated much of the 18th century spiritualist movement, but I have done some reading into the historical roots and meaning of the Tarot (not the fortune-telling stuff). Anyone else study in this area and have any direction for me to start looking?

Don't remember if I posted here before or not. Oh well! I am a lazy pagan. I've been on 'The Path' for about 15 years. I'm solitary, but haven't done a ritual in a L-O-N-G time. I find it to be more of a belief system, than anything.

Blessed Be!
I'm the same way. I don't really celebrate the holidays or do rituals. To me, it's not necessary.

Have any other Pagans/Wiccans been through a shitload of discrimination like me? In 7th grade, my peers found out about my religion, and all hell broke loose for me. They called me a Satanist, devil worshipper, told me I’d end up in hell, and someone started a vicious rumor that I got together with my “Satanist” friends every weekend so we could put curses on those we didn’t like.

My reputation all throughout high school was “The Satanic Chick in the Wheelchair.” When my classmates would confront me about my religion, I’d call them flaming cows in incorrectly pronounced Latin, which, even though fun, just made things worse. They’d back away and say, “You just put a curse on me, didn’t you?!”

Since then, I’ve gotten a lot stronger on the inside and now I don’t give a rat’s ass what people think of me.

But…yeah. Anyone who has a story to share, feel free to PM me. Or if you just wanna talk to another Pagan, that’s okay too.

Eight words the Witches Rede fulfill:
If it Harms none, Do what Thou Will!

I didn't have many friends when I was younger, and perhaps as a direct result, read constantly.
Egypt was one of my biggest fascinations and I feel it's likely how I became intrigued with other religions.
I lived-and still do-live in a rapidly expanding suburban community full of soccer moms who were not to pleased by my interests.
That combined with my old-fashioned Christian grandmother's ranting kept me scared away from taking a good look at any other religions or beliefs for several years.
My mother had never really pressured any of her beliefs on me so my grandmother had been my primary introduction to Christianity. Unfortunately when I was about 12, I made the mistake of letting her convince me to go to church camp.
There I was told that all my favorite fantasy books and games were a gateway to hell. I suppose the worst part of church camp though was the speaking in tongues. That traumatized me something awful.
After the terror of church camp I realized what an idiot I'd been to let anyone else influence any of my beliefs and immediately began delving into other cultures and faiths.
I still haven't exactly defined my religion, but I'm quite alright with that. I think if I look long enough I'll find something I believe in.

Agnostic, but with Celtic leanings. I follow my own path, but since I'm not part of the JCI, then I'm Pagan by definition winking smiley

Inspired by the book Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Which is also badass, and if people interested in this thread haven't read it, I recommend it.

Just stumbled onto this lovely thread and glad I did. smiling smiley
I am a solitary pagan witch and have been for 15 years now. I don't share that with many because there is still a lot of ignorance. But I didn't mind letting that out on my members page because I love this site (and NIN, of course) and I would rather just be myself. (In all honesty this is the only site I forum, I would rather not spend my free time elsewhere)
Just like someone said before "and you harm none, do what you will." So I believe in the law of karma. I could go on and on, but to keep it short, I believe in duality, everything in balance. If someone or something harms me, I don't resort to fighting back, I protect. And I would never do anything to take over another's will.
I am more of a pagan though but when the time is right my witchy ways come out. I am a regular at herbalism mostly, I used to divine alot with the tarot but I have been slacking. Spell magick is another story...I believe in just writing my own since I find it a lot easier to tune in to the energy I seek.
My system of beliefs may be hard for others to understand in many ways, but that's okay because I know it's worked for "me" and as long as I don't harm anyone in the process it should matter what other's think.

Bright blessings!
Merry meet, merry part and merry meet again!

Hello!
Finally a forum I won't be bombarded by 'dumb noob thread' on.
If you want to get technical, I am an "Electric Neo-Pagan".
I lean towards wicca.
I grew up in a loose christian family. I was allowed to go to whichever church held my interest at the time. I had an experience with talking in tongues at church camp and never went to church again. smiling smiley
My family would tell me to read the bible and see what I got from it. Today I see it as one huge epic poem.
Oh, the basic definition of an Electric Neo-Pagan is someone who draws their beliefs from a number of different religions, including Pagan ones.
I walk to my own tune, I suppose.
