I haven't noticed any squabbles yet, it was bound to happen thuogh, the place is a clusterfuck of people trying to shout the loudest. I am sticking to a few choice threads and doing my usual, I cannot be arsed with the drama.

congrats grodecki! what are you gonna do now?

i have just been looking at the dogs trust website. sad smiley

my fingal left a big hole, but i feel sorry for dogs who have never had a loving home like he had, so i'm pretty set on adopting a dog (or two) now that my new job is in place.

thing is, i want them all, they make me soo sad. such a daft tart when it comes to dogs.

08/21/08 10:48 AM

hmm, I'm not so sure about that wraith...
i think i've been interacting with a few ETSers in here, & most seem to be fine, but there are a few who need to remember that this is NOT ETS...

08/21/08 11:31 AM

Oh I agree Azzie, that was the point I was making really. There are a few people from ETS who think that people shouldn't have fun (for whatever reason). I'm just concerned that if people from the spiral start blaming the fact these people are idiots on the fact they're from ETS then friction wil start tp develop bewteen the vast majority of cool ETSers and the vast majority of cool Spirallers.

ps to anyone else, I recommend reporting anyone who makes "this is lame" type posts and writing a short explanation that you see it as trolling. That's what I've starte doing.

Yes, I've met a lot of them in person, and they're very nice. I'm sure if they're dickheads here they're not tolerated on ETS either.

Who were the idiots and where was this idiocy happening? Until the "view posts since your last visit" thing starts, I'll never be able to keep track of this place!

*edit* and yeah it was bloody sunny this afternoon! which i actually didn't like for once as I threw together this nice wintery outfit.

Ruth et al - Trolling means to post something to annoy people with the sole aim of starting an argument.

Nemister - In the past some ETS people have complained that spirallers combinations of "crazy", "@#$%&" and "not real fans" (ocasionally with justification in a handful of cases). Equally some spirallers have complained that ETSers are "rude", "arrogant" and "take themselves too seriosuly" (again with some justifcation at times).

Icklekitty - It's mainly in the party room and a little in chat. For some reason a handful of people seem to be getting enjoyment out of posting "this thread is lame" etc in any threads which aren't 100% serious and bullying people in chat.

It seems like the mods are getting on top of things and I'm sure noone's got anything to worry about in the long run. Plenty of room for everyone here. smiling smiley What I said earlier is important I think though, if you think people are out of line for any reason report it. The mods might think it's not worth acting on but they definitely won't act if it's not reported.

Thanks to everyone who congratulated me on my amazing cooking from yesterday. At the UK NIN gigs I will, indeed, be making pie for those in the queue. Something to look forward to! Today I cooked over-sized pasta and a shed of veg and cheeese. Simple stuff, but none the less it was loverly. Dusted off that applie pie too. My family loved it.

Grodeki, well done in your results. I've seen a lot of teenagers with smiles on their faces today, a good thing to see. I didn't do too well in my GCSE's, but I did get an A on my English paper. Certainly paved the way to my degree, and I'm now on form to getting a 1st in my final year -- which I start next month. Exciting stuff!

And as for the ETS/Spiral clash: I was never on ETS, but was a part of The Spiral. For the most part, The Spiral was a friendly place but I rarely posted. I'm loving this new nin.com forum, hence my growing number of posts. You're all friednly folk!

I bought a coffee machine today. I swear to God, it's amazing. I needn't be boiling the kettle every 2 minutes, the coffee machine keeps it hot!

Right, I'd say more but my lady is waiting. Goodnight all!

(No doubt I'll miss a great deal more before morning -- this thread moves so damned fast!)

08/21/08 4:43 PM

Thankyou thanks!

Had a fantastic meal out with some old friends at Nandos; I love meeting up with people I've not seen in years.

ETS/Spiral clash? I've not noticed it tbh, I was a lurker on the Spiral and all I've noticed is a few slightly obsessed people in the chat that sit there waiting for band members all day, and go apeshit when they are there, but I suppose a fair few of those could have been from ETS, they just hide better there :p I'm enjoying it here, everyone seems like nice folk.

08/21/08 4:43 PM

bugger the queue - when's the dinner party mark? teehee. Sorry you didn't do too well, but as long as you got what you needed then....

A shame you never posted on the consulate in the spiral - you've missed out on some cracking meets, but hopefully more of those to come.

As for coffee, well i don't mind a cup or two. But i far prefer tea... so boiling kettle still essential. Tisn't too slow to wait if you only put in the water you need so....

Anyway, not that i have anyone waiting for me (well other than in chat) I shall bid you all good night.

Firstly, grodecki well done you. Make the celebrations last at least 2 weeks!!

Sarks - you should get another dog. Though none will ever replace Fingal, you will be doing good for both yourself and the new doggy. Pets leave such a huge gap in your life when they go, I still miss my cat who died over a year ago, he was my baby. I love the other two dearly but he was just special to me.

ETS - I was a lurker there but very rarely posted, again like the Spiral there were good and bad on there, but I felt way more comfy in the Spiral and overall I think I did find the people way more friendly. I think ETS was just more exhaisting to try and keep up with. The merge is bound to run into some squabbles, its inevitable. Just dont take the bait. I come to the forums for light relief, I so cant be arsed arguing with faceless people that chances are will never be more to me that a username on a forum. Waste of energy.

Yesterday was pissy rain here, but today the sun is shining - yipee a dry day in August!

Where's the tea lurking?

Ha, I tell you what -- I'd love to have a dinner party! It's one of those odd things which I've always wanted to do, but never known anyone who'd fancy it. My friends are more into getting smashed and falling over rather than my amazing cooking. I'm beginning to feel like an old man in that respect. Nowadays, instead of hitting the clubs at night I tend to have a night in with the Mrs; cooking in the kitchen while prancing about to Danny Elfman sountracks. What could be more fun?

The thought of meets is pretty cool. I've never met up with any forum peeps at gigs, but I think that'd be a cool thing to do. I eagerly await the next UK NIN gigs. Everyone can meet for a brew, seeing as we're all so fond of our hot beverages.

I prefer coffee to tea nowadays -- I am partial to an english tea every so often, however. Tea is a lot lighter than coffee, so it's often a nice drink to wind down in the evenings with. That, or a hot chocolate. Yum-a-yum-a-yum-a.

And once more, as I ask everyday: plans for the day everyone?

I'm having a day off work, which makes a nice change. I also need to pack for my Bank Holiday Trip to Scotland! Can't wait.

08/22/08 5:04 AM

mmm, the thought of a whole bunch of consulates sitting in the queue, sipping tea, moaning about the bloody weather... lolz!!! I'm there!!! grinning smiley
