Time for Earl Grey!

10/02/11 3:01 AM

another old face to add to the party: hi everyone! :-D

my move to Australia gathers force: visas are all but issued, house is due to be sold by end of October, so it looks like we're moving Down Under sometime in November!!!
the weather here has been obscenely hot, but Townsville, QLD, is gonna be like this all year round!!!

a couple of nights out planned for me before things get hazy:
- the Mission London show on 22nd October, with Fileds of the Nephilim in support! tix are sold out, but if anyone is going, gimme a shout, maybe we can meet for a drink at the bar. & I hear rumour of an unofficial afterparty that Husssey'll be DJing at, somewhere in Brixton...
- club Antichrist on 29th. dirty, sexy goth/alt/fetish club, lots of NIN played! :-D

as always, you can find me perving it up on twitter; shouldn't be hard to find me there... ;-)

10/07/11 11:21 AM

update: the visas have been issued!
looks like I'll be in Oz before November is finished!!! :-D

10/07/11 12:49 PM

WOW AZZIE!

That took no time at all...congrats to you both on your new lives down under grinning smiley

My brother and his wife are trying to get me to move there because the cold hurts my hips so much.....but I couldn't leave my family sad smiley

10/12/11 11:54 AM

@fijjit:
yeah, the visas took less than 3 months!! If I'd applied (as a teacher, I'm on the 'in demand' list), it would've taken closer to 3 years!! but wifey is midwife, & they are currently being fast-tracked, so looks like we'll be arriving on/around 14th November!!!

leaving family behind is going to be hard, especially as my step-daughter (now 24) is still a daily part of our lives. but she has her own life to lead, & we can't hold ourselves back for her, even though she is really hurting about us leaving. But, at the end of the day, this is something that just feels right for us, now.

looks like plans are being finalised (subject to being able to book flights...)

& so far the plan is:

fly from UK on 6th November
2 nights stopover in Korea (7/8th)
fly on to Japan
fly out from Japan on 17th
1/2 nights in Brisbane
arrive in Townsville!!!

if anyone is going to see the Mission in London tonight (!) gimme a shout, I'll be meeting a few friends there :-)

10/22/11 10:28 AM

Good luck Azzie! This immigration lark is quite an adventure winking smiley

luckily for me, the wife has been handling most of the paperwork - it is all in her name after all, so she had to do most of it anyway grinning smiley

the flight details have been booked now, so we'er flying out of UK on 5th November!!
we'll spend about 10 days in Japan, seeing family over there, then it's off to Oz & a whole new life!!!

I must say, having spoken with you a couple of times, I coulda sworn you were from South Africa or something, wraith winking smiley grinning smiley

Been in London for about four days. Still not ready to take part in any sort of meetups yet. I don't think I know any regular posters in London anyway, aside from Sheepdean, who rarely posts in the Party Room.

11/26/11 5:44 PM

sorry I missed you Patrick, I was way too busy the last few weeks that I was in UK.

arrived in Townsville, QLD, about a week ago.
already got myself a car, a working SIM for my phone, and a lot of coffee!!

I knew it was gonna be hot & sunny here, but still surprised how much colour I'm taking on (being more used to British weather...)
I've been exclusively in shorts this past week!! somewhat amazingly, my legs have retained their British pallor whilst my arms & face are beginning to look healthy...

I need one thing for Christmas then everything else will follow. A job!. Hate hate hate being unemployed. Seeing counsellor Friday so hope that will help get through this rough patch. Love to you all xoxox
