Bloody hot as hell here - almost too hot to drink and from me, that's saying something.

Ah well, trying to catch up with the 100s of pics posted on facebook. Just missing everyone soooo badly.

You better be having an awesome time (which, if those photos you mentioned are any indication, you are).
Take care, keep us posted!

Thank fuck its Friday.

wish me luck; am off to register with another agency today.
shame its for teaching posts again, but beggars can't be choosers at the moment..

tbh, there's no guarantee of actually getting any work as a result of signing up with them, but it's a positive move, i think..

I'm actually thinking of taking a sideways move within teaching (if I continue to teach, that is); has anyone else gone into SEN teaching? more/less stressful than regular teaching?
Reason I ask is that I find that when the summer holiday comes along, my body feels like it melts into a pool of squish; I don't realise how tense & stressed I've been all year, and the release almost literally vegetates me for most of the summer. that, and the fact that teaching in a PC lab of 20/30 PCs, often with no aircon (although when there is aircon, it exacerbates my hearing difficulties) with courses that often require 100% coursework (unlike Maths, for example, which is 100% exam now!) adds to the workload outside of the class.. Would teaching SEN really be any less stressful??

09/04/09 5:17 AM

^ @ azonei: You could create a thread in the community outreach forum about SEN teaching. Maybe you can get impressions from both sides: teachers and students smiling smiley

Hi guys, I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaack!

What'd I miss? Anyone wanna fill me in?

Hi all, long time no visit!

Hi Az, you sound like the DH. Comatose, then wound up in blind panic 3 weeks before the start of term preparing (he's also got an inspection this academic year, got back and found the management's moved all the goalposts again since the end of last termthe finger smiley). He's done some SEN stuff as part of his usual teaching load, but found the only difference was an additional tier of ed psychs to piss him off. He hasn't been SEN exclusively though. But in his experience, everyone's 'special' now.
A change is as good as a rest they say! You could give it a go!
Sorry I'm not more upbeat, it is the start of term afer all, drinking smiley
