got to the school this morning, greeted by the deputy head, who eyed me with apprehension.. told that I was not needed after all, because my appearance doesn't fit the ethos of the school.

Hmmmm....

Isn't that grounds for discrimination...?

hmm, i'm not sure on that one.
it turns out the agency warned the school up front that I had piercings, but the school didn't read their email properly.
to be fair, the school were pretty embarassed about the mess, but they couldn't waive the rules; they are very strict with their girls about no piercings, and the same goes for all staff, though i think it's a pretty archaic rule, and doesn't detract from one's ability to learn or teach..

Glad, fijjit, ruth --> thanks for your advice regarding the stray cat smiling smiley

The Initiative Test

The hardest task of the day will be to find the school: there are directions on our main web site, and a picture map, but the lanes are narrow, winding and slow; we are not easily seen from the road, so do telephone if you get lost.

LOL - I like that grinning smiley grinning smiley Good luck fella

After a month of being ill, I finally had to concede defeat and go to the docs yesterday as I just felt so bad. Came away with a goody bag of steroids, anti-spasm drugs and antibiotics and already am feeling better. But I have to go back tomorrow to find out the results of bloods. Thank god for modern medicine (and free prescriptions) grinning smiley

09/23/09 7:10 AM

ruth ->

and now just swear to us all that you will take those meds as prescribed and for the duration!!!

tough love, you see smiling smiley

you gotta get your SHIT together before November! lmao..get it? shit? bahahaha

09/23/09 10:36 AM

ROFL

Yes, I'll be taking the meds for the duration, no worries there. I promise 'mum' ;-) grinning smiley

Will try ringing you later, so will update you in full then my dear smiling smiley

I hope you're ok Ruth, I mean obviously you are, but I mean you know just in generally.

09/23/09 6:35 PM

azonei: Best of luck! (certainly sounds promising though!)

Ruth: One of my most irritating traits is avoiding seeing a doctor untill I'm too sick/incapacitated to do it myself >_< get well soon hun.

november19: hope things work out with the cat (our Felix, although older & more 'mellow' than he used to be, certainly has never taken kindly to guest animals, so I'd probably be stuck in a similar situation as yourself if that happened)

& now.....*shuffles off to get mail & refill mug*

09/24/09 2:56 AM

Thank you TBHA and Acharis I'm feeling a lot more human so the antibiotics are doing their bit, but the other stuff? Hmmmn, early days it would appear. Mind you stress once again reared it's ugly head last night and that is the worst thing for the condition :-/

Ah well, life is what it is right? Just gotta keep chipping away smiling smiley

09/24/09 8:09 AM

chin up ruth, i'm sure you'll pull through (just avoid the stress though winking smiley )

am back from my interview..
the interview bit with the Deputy Head of the School & the Network Manager went really well, i think. wish I could say the same for the technical stuff. MCSE questions? haven't even looked at that stuff for over 9 yrs, and almost completely ballsed-up the router config! eye rolling smiley ah well, gotta stay positive, eh? grinning smiley

09/24/09 8:17 AM

Thanks azzie, but I seem to be a magnet for stress lol grinning smiley

Well done on surviving the interview and fingers crossed. One of those things that you never really know what they're looking for, what they're priority is and the calibre of the other students.

Good look and yeah, stay positive....I imagine a bottle or two of wine might assist with that ;-) grinning smiley

I am sorry to have to tell you that on this occasion your application to the school was unsuccessful; but we were pleased to meet you, and you confirmed our initial impression that you were a strong candidate.

ah well, i didn't get it, but at least they were nice enough to tell me fairly quickly...
to be honest, i did't relish the long drive, and i suspect that was a part of their decision-making process too; the distance was brought up more than once during the interview & during informal chats..

Latest stray cat news:

After a week of sleepless nights and indecision.. i decided to keep the stray.

Took my cat to the vet first, got immunizations updated. smiling smiley

Took stray for a check, bloodwork prior to immunizations.. and in short -> both Doctors there agreed and now have me convinced due to many points made, that this stray is someone's cat, has history of battles, and I am asking for it if I bring him in to coexist with my 7 y/o 'only child'

Their advice to me was to quit feeding it if I ever wanted it to go back to it's own home.

Strangely, i am at peace with this latest development, and will hopefully be doing the right thing for this animal.

Once again, filled with hatred for irresponsible pet owners. nothing new sad smiley
