Morning all. Bit annoyed as I've just been told that due to the venue I was supposed to be playing at are being dicks, we've had to reschedule for a later date, now late November. This is just a little annoying as you may imagine.

In other news, I'm about to go o my first final year of uni lecture. Not long now until I get thrown back into the real world!

Day 3 of not feeding the stray..

still hasn't left my deck.. cries and paws at door incessantly.

tugged on heartstring one too many times -> broke down and fed him!

09/29/09 7:35 AM

aww, i totally understand that, nov.
we had a kitten hanging round our front door for a few weeks. it did look well-fed & cared for, however, so we allowed ourselves to only pet him/her. but that always leads to problems..
one day we'd left the door open to let some cool air in, the cheeky bugger took it as an invitation & next thing we knew, it was upstairs in our living room having a good nose around!! our resident kitty-puss did not take kindly to this blatant intrustion, chased the poor mite out!!
needless to say, although we still see the kitty-puss hanging around outside, it is much more wary of coming inside..

do you think he WILL eventually go to his own home if i quit feeding for good?

and now colder weathers coming.. sad smiley

Shit! i'm wavering again.. *think of pierre...think of pierre...*

Sometimes cats decide hat they now live with YOU and there's nothing one can do winking smiley

09/29/09 10:45 AM

Mini fij had a kitten come to stay with her a coupla nites ago. She lives on a busy road and it was mewing in a bush so she took him in. Jake was over the moon! He's cat mad at the moment but the owner's son came to collect it the next day. Apparently, they live on the otherside of the road and have 4 dogs (that live in the garden) and the kitten escaped through the kitchen window.....she also said the kid stunk of urine...nice! I told her to expect the cat to come back, they seem to know where they're better offsmiling smiley

Glad- sucks with your gig, but atleads it hasn't been cancelled, you'll just have to blow their socks off the end of november grinning smiley

Had my x rays back (finally). The knee is fine but they've found a few 'bony outgrowths' that shouldn't be there so I have to go see a specialist at the musculoskeletal assessment and treatment centre. I really don't know what to expect anymore, all I want is the pain to go away....but it never does sad smiley

09/29/09 11:20 AM

*tender hugs fijjit* You don't have much luck do you hun? sad smiley

nov One thing is for sure, if you continue feeding it, then it will never go. I don't envy you one bit and as you well know, I'd be exactly the same as you. I'd imagine that the cat will have to be 'really' hungry before he'll move on/back..... which could take a week I guess *shrugs* Only you (and hubby) can decide how to play this sad smiley

glad I can imagine that sucks... Is the gig under question now given the re-scheduled date?

Nah, looks like it's gonna be at the last weekend of November. Only thing that's under question is whether I'm gonna be performing as just myself, or whether I'm gonna be playing as part of Hemy/Rowell. Just have to wait and see, as I'm supposed to be recording the second H/R album sometime in November as well.

Fijj, yeah, I'll definitely blow their socks off grinning smiley - hope you get the bony outgrowths sorted out soon!

Nov - Uh oh. Looks like he, or she, has adopted you as their owner, so you could be in a spot of trouble.

10/02/09 1:39 AM

*yawns*

Why is it that the very day you must get up is the one when you could've continued sleeping like a baby? But then, when you can lie in, you end up waking up!!! :-/

Sods Law maybe?

Happy Friday folks. smiling smiley

10/03/09 2:17 AM

hehe, nov!!

a good rest on the futon seems to have done the trick.. until i decide to do something stenuous (like, say, making tea and coffee in the morning) winking smiley

10/03/09 3:12 AM

Wow azzie, you don't want to be pushing yrself too hard ya know ;-)

10/03/09 6:34 AM

i'll take all the virtual support & hugs you guys have to offer..

Off to take the stray to the APA

After talking at length with the woman there, i am comfortable with this solution and confident he will be adopted by a good family. Ha, i say that like i haven't been in agony over what to do for the past 2 weeks!

Just ask Ruth how many times we were keeping him/taking him ..

Thanks again, everyone, for your advice and kind words smiling smiley

10/03/09 8:02 AM

*Hugs Nov*

Just thinking about having to make a decision like that has me wincing, but i'd say you're probably doing the right thing (in the long run).

10/03/09 1:38 PM

Yep, she's not lying. I haven't known from one moment to the next if there's gonna be 1 or 2 cats there when I visit... not an easy situation at all.

10/04/09 1:04 AM

Here's a strange one for you guys... hubby has gone gaa gaa over a property on the Isle of Scalpay. The selling price is £140,000 and it needs extensive work but the views are incredible to say the least and it truly appears to be the kind of place we could settle down forever.

What do y'all think? It's the Manse.

'Romance' and idealogy is fine, but the practicalities of living so remote? Before you both make any decision, a) I really think you all need to visit as a family first and b) look into those practicalities - like what the weather is like in the winter blah blah blah. Only then, do I think you can make an informed decision.

As for the price? Seems a little high but it all depends on the size of the property and the amount of land yr getting. Also, are there any builders locally or would they have to travel from elsewhere? That would affect the cost of refurbishment....

Oh another thing is resale... if it didn't work out for you guys, how 'easy' would it be to sell to move elsewhere?

Good luck hun. *hugs*

to be that isolated and have incredible landscape surrounding you.. that's the stuff of dreams!

and tbh, this sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity, as well. Grab it! grinning smiley

This is just an idea. I'm so confused, coz Ruth is right, I don't want to go leaping into anything, but it is definitely tempting. *sigh*

10/05/09 3:59 AM

I'm glad the others had the sense to mention yr link..I just thought I was missing something lol.

TBHA - we're all different with different needs/wants. I think it's lovely to chase a dream, as the others have mentioned, but I believe with something like this it has to be a shared dream. And after yr heart was so set on Liverpool....*shrugs*

I'm just too practical..Sometimes a good thing/sometimes not. I'd be thinking about stuff like how easy it is for ppl to visit and likewise for me to go visit others/go on holiday, how to go for retail therapy etc but then, I don't have any dreams (at the moment) to live somewhere like that. If I did, then maybe my heart would talk more than the head.

Good luck hun....

10/05/09 4:31 AM

Lovely house TBHA, if I could drive...I'd move there like a shot....my animals would love it!

Attempting to go back to work today. Still waiting to se if they want me to go to the musculoskeletal dept or hospital, hopefully I should know next week. In the meantime, I can't afford to be off anymore...sucks sad smiley

10/05/09 9:36 AM

Thanks, I think it's beautiful too.grinning smiley

@Ruth Do you know what the main thing making me say "I just don't know" is? The renovations involved, I'll be doing this mostly on my own, hubby will be in Iraq (for perhaps numerous tours) to pay for the whole thing (tax-free money, FTW).

Having looked over the survey of the place, I can feasibly ask the owner to knock £20,000 off the price (the inspector assesses the place at £120,000 - £140,000 with renovations). The place is 129 years old (there's that romance you were talking about, lol) and with the ratings of Category 1 being best and no action necessary and Category 3 being worst and needing immediate attention, the walls of the place (inside and out) are rated Category 2 and the floors are rated Category 3. The roof, fixtures, pipes and such are all Category 1 but honestly, what difference does that make if the place falls down?

Next question is does the UK participate in cap & trade? The place is environmentally unsound and I am concerned that it will cost me extra at the end of the year (or whenever) if I'm producing too many carbon emissions. *sigh*

Lastly Ruth, you're right about me wanting Liverpool... you're just right about that, I can't make any real arguments there. I can however say that the one thing I really want above all is for when hubby comes home from the horrors of war, I want for him to come "home" if that makes sense. Someplace where he sits back and says, "I've got my wife and daughters right here in this house that I absolutely want to live in... this is my home." Is that the place in Scalpay though? He seems to think so, but he's also not looked into it as extensively as me. Oddly though, he in turn doesn't want me to miss out on living in Liverpool, lol, so you see? This is my dilemma, I need to discuss it further with him when I get the chance. UGH!!!!!!!

10/05/09 10:53 AM

Tea anyone?

grinning smiley

10/05/09 10:59 AM

TBHA.. i get all that your saying!

Bear this in mind... anywhere in the UK (OK, almost anywhere) is going to be so easy to fall in love with! Scalpay won't be the last place you see & love!

If your based in Liverpool, and you love it, like i know you will winking smiley it will be your home and he will love it, too. Anywhere you & the girls are, will be his home, yes? smiling smiley

10/05/09 12:37 PM

@ TBHA
i have to agree with NOVEMBER on this, although Scalpay would be a dream place to live for some , its still a remote place to live, i think you would find that most of the inhabitants use the island for there holidays.

isle of scalpay
