mod edit: changed thread title
--I changed the title to clarify that this was about playback rigs. There is already a "your gear" thread and I didn't want any confusion. PM me per any questions.

I have a 5.1 set of Aperion Audio speakers, which are an incredible value for the money, being fed through an okay Onkyo amp. An older PS3 that can play SACDs, DVDAs ripped to server and played with Plex on a Mac Mini.

I've put together some great set-ups through old school and/or unwanted equipment, combined with some newer stuff. While my current set-up sucks compared to my last one, it's still not bad.

Modern RCA DVD player, AKAI AA-1050 Stero Receiver (OLD!), Technics SB-L70 3way Tower/Box Speakers (OLD AS HELL!), and some generic 3way Satellite Speakers (pulled from a modern CD player).

My last set-up was the same except the main speakers were some 90's era Sansui Tower/Vox speakers... They kicked serious ass but my dog put his paw clear through one of the brittle subwoofer cones while he was scratching his ear... asshole.

I definately do want to start working on a really high quality set-up that's gonna last for awhile, so I guess it's time to get out of the garage sales and thrift stores. lol
I'll probably make the step up to 5.1 soon. The one thing that I can't stand about newer audio is that I can't seem to find any sealed subwoofer enclosures and all of the ported ones that I've heard (that aren't rediculously priced) sound like SHIT. Any tips on that part?

All of Aperion's subs are sealed aside from the lowest end model. They also give you 30 days to try their speakers out, if you don't like them, they pay for return shipping.

I'll have to look into them when I'm ready to put out the $$$.
