it's not about competition, i hope. otherwise we'd just have to wait for a post by someone with way to much money and we'd all lose our interest. i guess (or hope) everyone in here is having a hell lot of fun with the shown equipment, and that's what it's for!!

I play drums. Have a Mapex Pro M Rock kit here augmented with Roland V-Drum pads. No studio pics at the moment, just live ones:

Sorry dude I only play drums on rockband :p

I wish I could buy a drum but you need a lot of space and sweet neighbour !

09/11/08 4:15 PM

nice drumkit, I recorded some stuff last year on mapex pro m, they rock!

I wanna trigger my tama drumkit and add sysex data to our pro tools rig in order to make the pro tools switch various sounds and triggered samples for choruses etc. I play along click so it won´t be a big deal, but great improvement to my sound

LMAO im a drum machine drummer. Not really coordinated enough i tried but almost stabbed myself in the eye a few too many times with drum sticks....

I suppose i should also add my iPod touch to the list of gear considering i use beat maker a lot to flesh out ideas whilst im on the tram on the way to work and back again...

I'm half tempted to go back and edit my original post to put mine in there as well. Get the 1/8 to 1/4 adapter and plug that baby in to an amp. My bass amp has 2 1/4" inputs, gonna come up with a beat on the bus ride home and come up with some new basslines tonight smiling smiley

I don't really use my hardware synths. I stick mostly to FL Studio and a bunch of vst instruments and effects, most of them free. I've tried the expensive vst's or have bought them in the past, but there are so many powerful free vsts out there that it's not even funny. There are nice things you can buy, but there are many sound making/shaping tools out there that are free and are just as good if not better than the payware tools.

your monitor speakers need to be higher up. unless you're very very short those are not ear level. might want to build some stands for those things.

Thanks for the advice, Its already been done actually. I also moved the mixer to the center as well so I gont have to spin around all the time. I'm also saving up for one of those premade desks with the rackmounts in them and pull out keyboard trays. That will be sweeeet.

If your making the move from a windows based PC, you'll be please with your new mac. I would never go back to pc. And I'm just running on a macbook. Much more stable than the alienware rig I had before.

Why do people always say that mac is waaaay better than pc? Is that much of a difference? Ok, it´s more stable...anything else???

Hey Observer!

Nah im already on mac i have a macbook the only reason im really getting an iMac is larger single display. The macbook has been fine so far but just a little more screen room(by double) is going to be nice. Im already a huge fan of Logic so there is no issue there just much larger display.

mac's are not per se better. they're different. i used to work on win (3.11 up to XP) and mac (os7.1-10.4). i didn't even need to decide for one system. both of my pcs (laptop & desktop) ceased to work spontaneously; but my oldest mac (LC III) still works pretty fine.
Now that I got rid of the windows stuff, it's easy to say everything's gotten better. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what happened.
I do not need to be an expert in software engineering any more. with windows i had to. i'm able to concentrate on my work again.

Ok, so i'll add to the 'who's got the biggest' debate.............
BOXES
Mac G5 Dual 2.3 GHZ - 4GB RAM
Motu 828 MK2 Audio Interface
Emu E5000 Sampler + more CDRom's than i know what to do with
Akai SGO1V
Roland XV2020 + Dance & Orchestral cards
Boss DR770 Drum Machine
Roland A33
Tannoy Reveal Active Speakers
SOFTWARE
Digital Performer 5
Mach 5
Vienna Symphonic Library - Appassionata Strings
T-Racks
Altiverb
Elastik Player + a few libraries

Thought i'd add to the whole Pro Tools vs Cubase vs Logic debate by having none of them !
Was going to go the Pro Tools when i was looking to buy kit a few years ago but unless you had £10K to spend on a proper Pro Tools rig, it wasn't worth it. At that time also, Logic was in it's infancy and not very good at all, so i was recommended Digital Performer for sound to picture work, and have stuck with it ever since.

How do you like your G5? I'm seeing these on Craigslist for awesome prices, thinking about going that route as long as they hold up well. I just emailed a guy selling a G5 dual 2.0 for $650.
