i'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this. much thanks to reznor n the nin crew. the 2 shows that i got to catch this tour were the best i'd ever been to in my life. thank you. and much thanks to the fans for continuing to support the creative efforts of all great artists.

Trent Reznor, you are an asshole. I already regretted not being able to attend an NIN show the last couple of times you've been around (With Teeth 2006, AIR secret gig, Lights in the Sky...), but now your generosity has made me feel a little bit guilty, too. I hope you're happy. Prick!

Woah. Well, I'm about to go get a 1TB external HD, but I highly doubt it would be incredibly efficient for downloading stuff like this directly onto it-plus although I do know how to edit stuff, and I will be getting Premiere as well, I don't think I'm good enough to work on something THIS big.

Anyway, not quite what I was expecting. I do wonder about the audio, though-although I'm fairly certain the same dude who's working on "This One's On Us" for the Vegas show might possibly take a shot at mastering the audio sources from here as well-either him or any number of other talented people for that matter.

Has anyone posted the actual set list in here yet? I'm sure I could look it up on ninwiki if I had to-I think this one had Vessel on it though so it would compliment the Vegas show perfectly aside from it's lack of "Me, I'm Not" (although it's visually identical to "The Warning", aside from of course the music the visuals sync up with).

This is definitely the last thing one would expect after being told of a "small gift". Still, it'll be pretty awesome once it's been worked on by some dedicated fans. It'll just require a little more patience on my part-and on the part of all people who don't quite have all the resources to work on it themselves.

Motherfuck. I hate Mac's and now I officially hate NIN. I had big plans to download this and edit my own DVD but ROB has to favor Mac's so hard I can feel my ass bleed. Not looking forward to having to wait another couple months to get a copy of the final product. FUCK. At least give us the audio.

Yeah don't be dissin Mac's just because we rule! I was a PC person for many years, and now? No more blue screens of death and viruses.

Oh please I've been using a PC since I started using computers and have never even seen a blue screen of death and have never gotten a computer virus so take that noise somewhere else. I have, however gotten rid of that crappy iphone that crashed continuously so yeah....

OK, I decided to download the Portland gig because it apparently has more cameras. It'll be an interesting download for sure, it's been downloading for around 20 mins now and the speed is routinely bobbing up and down between 10 kB/s and 250 kB/s. grinning smiley

edit: Oh, it settled down... at 10 kB/s. Now, let's do the math, 167 gigs at 10 kB/s... some time next summer! grinning smiley

I've uploaded 1.25GB in about 10 minutes!

Damn. Where do you work? I am the IT for my job...but I get better speeds at my apt with Comcast than our two T1 Lines here at work. I'm not even going to try and DL ANYTHING here.

I like my job, too. I don't want to lose it.

I won't leave it on for too much longer, in case OUR IT comes asking why I've uploaded 7.71GB already in the last 2 hours!
smiling smiley
We have an 8 MB/s upload limit, I believe it's 2 8gig fibre optic lines from an industrial provider as we maintain data storage on site for thousands of food establishments. My area of the building is capped at 2MB/sec, so obviously no-one else is uploading right now, as it should be.

I'll be shutting it down soon, I'll be at 10GB in the next hour or so and that should be risky enough for one day.

At home I get 500Kbps down and only 80Kbps up. They don't offer much faster than that for residences here in Canada unless you go to a small business plan...or purchase your own server space.

Thanks for this Trent! I couldn't have hoped anything better! Now it's just waiting for the edited version to be ready, I'm not going to download that 405gb's, it would take years and my computer would explode quite surely grinning smiley

But thank you again Mr. Reznor, and good luck for those of you who are going to edit this, make it look amazing!!

01/08/09 11:08 AM

...I have to wait... I don't have anywhere near enough space for all of that. I hope some people get some good footage out soon, maybe get a full show to download that isn't over 100g, prefirably 10gigs at the biggest... is there any of this footage non-HD that I can get..? Trent... please put out a DVD for this, I want it so bad but don't have close to enough space for HD shows. Even audioboards would be amazing, though I would love to see the show. Trent never came to Wisconsin so I didn't get a chance to see them.

01/08/09 11:14 AM

If anyone manages to get it downloaded, could you please encode it in x264 and make a new torrent please?

It shouldn't be more than 5 Gigs after the transcoding in HD. winking smiley

Ditto that here (no BSOD recently, anyway. I used to get them when I was new and running Win98). The "no more BSOD/viruses" argument does nothing but reinforce the perception of Mac users as novice (or worse) computer users with little common sense.

That being said, there's already a PC vs. Mac thread in the Community area.

01/08/09 11:24 AM

I've already been compiling footage from about 8 different people in Victoria who were filming and am in the process of editing it together. This should be an enormous help!

Here's an idea: why not set up a paypal kinda thing via the forums here on nin.com? That would/should keep people out of selling bootlegs. Make it a thread/link that you can only see if you are registered nin.com member. I know it's possible, because I 've seen other websites do this.

Another thought: Trent has been kind enough to give up many lovely freebies and why spread some of the kindness around? For example, it's $11.24 for the dvd and shipping - how about making that an even $15 and then donating the change to charities? I don't think $15 is an outrageous sum of money and I would totally cool with having the $3.76 going to benefit someone who needs it. Here's a few charities that are slightly NIN related:

Humane Society - we know how much Trent loooves dogs - Humane Society of America
Rebuilding New Orleans - still much work left to be done there...renewnola.org
Zero Decibel Project - 'cause we all know NIN's stance on this zerodecibelproject
I would definitely be interested in buying some DVD's if someone set this up. I would snag a bluray too, even though i dont have a player yet.
Sounds good to me. I'm all for donating to charities. Maybe one that Trent/NIN has publicly endorsed? Lets do this.
I TOTALLY BACKUP THIS

NO!!! We're going to keep all the audio and video to ourselves and revel in it every chance we get...... confused smiley

Of course people are going to share. Why wouldn't we? It's just going to be a while until you see some actual product from these things. But they are going at a steadier pace than I expected. But it's still going to take days.

this is very, VERY cool, but is anyone getting the impression that the more he does this (putting these things into the fans' hands) the more he makes Nine Inch Nails less "Trent Reznor" and more "us"?

My thoughts exactly. After being a fan for 15+ years, I've come to have faith that anything Trent puts out, and puts his name on, will be 'top of the line'. He's such a perfectionist. I'm not nearly as optimistic on how a 'fan' made video will turn out, but it seems like there are enough video editing students out there that I'm hopeful it'll be just as good as something Trent would put his name on. Reserved, excited, but a little disappointed.

Unfortunately, I am one of those people who still have dial-up so I will stay out of your way and patiently wait. I will gladly pay for a DVD if it becomes available.
Thank you Trent and Co. and to all the fans that are going to wade through the footage and put something together. Just wish I could help!

That was my first concern when the fan made DVD project started...was it going to be something Trent would be proud of?

Now, he has given the fans the tools to do it...win-win!

I would like to take this opportunity and thank my parents for getting me a 1TB WesternDigital Mybook. I had a gut feeling it would come in handy one day.

A record for what? Most diggs? That number doesn't even begin to approach a record
