Yeah like Icklekitty said, once colour correcting is done we will have an actual idea on release dates. Once we have that we add the last bits of text to the trailer and release it out.

I may as well hype up the trailer a bit (hyping a trailer, wtf?) it's pretty cool. There's several chunks of video taken from the edits. We haven't just chosen cool shots and made a montage, we're showing off the quality of the actual edits. Some of the bonus content Ash was mentioning earlier is teased a bit in the trailer too, plus there's another surprise in store

I think that's the plan, yeah. Whether or not the bonus disc will be included in the package is down to whether the burners can afford it, but I think it was decided that there'd be room for 3 discs in the box, so the recipient can insert a bonus disc at a later date if their burner can't afford it.

Theoretically, the thing could be released before it gets authored, in mpeg format or something, but I think waiting the couple of weeks for a proper author with menus etc would be better (what do you think?).

Secondly - there are quite a lot of other edits already out and, although I am 101% confident that none of them can hold a candle to the awesomeness that will be AVOTT, I can't help but notice that those distributed in the original HD tend to be a significant improvement on their SD counterparts.

Of course, I agree that a DVD is the right way to go, since most people have that hardware. I also agree that an authored disc is a lot better than an mpeg torrent.

However, are there plans to release SOME kind of HD render of AVOTT, in parallel to the DVD? It would be GREAT to have that too! Whether the HD version was mpeg or an authored bluray disc doesn't bother me (although burners for the latter are few and far between of course).

Thirdly - thanks again. I said it already, but this is going to be awesome.

(P.S. Wouldn't it have been easier to do colour correction on all the source material first? Then there are only as many settings for 'shots' as there are cameras... at least for The Gift...)

Oh yeah the Gift is definitely coming in HD - just when we put that survey out a couple of months ago SD DVD torrent was BY FAR the most popular request, so that's going out first. Everything's been maintained in original quality up to this point, so HD release will be no issue at all.
