I've downloaded the whole thing, the rate moving from slow to lightning fast. I am unbelievably impressed with the quality of this thing.
When Trent and Co. blew the opportunity to have this tour professionally filmed, i was bummed for weeks that this show, the best i've ever seen, was not going to be captured. When i learned of the fan projects, i was skeptical at best and figured a bad bootleg was on its way. I never expected this. Excellent memoir from the LITS tour. Man, this rivals official DVD releases.
That said...i want a physical copy as soon as there's a physical one available.

Alright, now things are rolling a bit smoother on my end. I watched most of this on my iPod last night and now I'm about to go watch the DL DVD. Again, thank you guys so much for this. I've been waiting for this ever since you first started the project and now I have to say this is completely worth the wait. To quote a very wise man...

"Nine Inch Nails fans kick ass. Blown away."

Using Nero 9 Burning Rom and trying to burn the DL DVD

I'm getting a "DVD-Video files compliance test failed. The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable. Do you want to continue?"

Events also show "Backup file 'VTS_01_0.BUP' should be identical to 'VTS_01_0.IFO'"

I got exactly the same problem, and the resulting image isn't valid. However, here is the fix for it:

1) Navigate to the VIDEO_TS folder in the downloaded files

2) Move VTS_01_0.BUP out of that folder to a safe place. (So that you can put it back later if I'm wrong)

3) Make a new copy of VTS_01_0.IFO and rename it to VTS_01_0.BUP (now the files are identical for sure)

4) Burn an image to disc. This time you shouldn't get the error message.

optional: 5) I recommend trying to mount the resulting image with something like Daemon Tools Lite, which is basically a DVD drive emulator, so that you can see if the image is playable before you write it to a disc. Get it here, is very useful: [www.soft82.com]

Worked for me!

@toiou team: AWESOME work! But please tell people how to fix this issue.

Thanks everyone, I'm off to watch it... :-D

I got the same error message but I left the files as they were, then just skiped the error message. The resulting image file is totally playable on my pc. Now I just have to burn the image. So I don't think the copying/renaming thing is necessary, at least for me. I made the iso file with Nero 7, maybe is just a Nero 9 issue.

So I burned it using imgburn and it got to 53% done and gave me an error message.. yet my disc loads up and so far I've been watching it on my computer and it is working.

The menu's are killer.

After I saw that it worked on my computer I tried it on my DVD player and it didn't work. Stupid old DVD player, it plays my Closure discs and Australia disc but not TDS Live and this. sad smiley

Edit: Of course as soon as I post I get to the point in my DVD where it fails epicly. Guess I have to figure out another way to do this meh sad smiley

Yep, try creating an image file. Imgburn is the way most people are going. I've burned it to a virtual drive and it seems to be going fine.

Also, a lot of people are using DVDshrink to make SLDVDs from the DLDVD download.

No way man. The Gift video that Trent and Co. released was no where near professional. The angles weren't planned, the camera ops weren't briefed and I'm pretty sure were just road crew, not trained camera operators.

The cameras used weren't great either, all consumer HD cameras you could go buy yourself right now. All different makes/models and not custom set for filming live shows.

It was a rushed job, not done by professionals, and it took A LOT of work to get it looking this good, lol.

I'm not going to debate this...I know this isn't "true" professional quality. If it were then fans wouldn't have been given the opportunity to edit it together. But I also know it's not fan footage like Vegas. THAT'S my point.

I think it's pretty shitty for anyone to say Trent & Co. blew it when they are the ones who provided the footage. What a spit in the face.

Now hold on a second. I was "complimenting" the entire process and job done here. I meant they didn't get the LITS show filmed in a typical manner, big-production wise, Trent even said "he blew it" getting the show filmed for blu-ray. This is an incredible job of getting all the footage put together and edited, whether somewhat professionally filmed, fan footage, whatever. But as far as the big multi-camera production film, that didn't happen. So, yes, they did blow that part. The end result of what some very talented people have put together since, is fantastic. No need to lash out, you were out of line. And i didn't say it was 'bootleg' quality at all....i said thats what i was expecting...then was blown away by the end result.

Was having trouble with ipod version though first time it failed while i was sleeping and so i d/l again and went to work acme home and it was done but it was stuck on firefox doing the virus scan and wouldn't finish.

Is there any possibility of getting this in a Mpeg-4 or Wmv for us people who have a Zune(you know that thingy that Microsoft put out to compete with ipod)

If you ask nicely, I'm sure someone will be able to convert it for you from the 1080p version.

As it is, right now we're concentrating on fixing the iPod classic problem, getting the PS3 version fixed, and putting up the SD DVD.

*whew*

Is its not a problem for anyone would they please make a Mpeg-4 or Wmv if they have the time i'm one of those people that have a Zune and would love to be able to watch this on the go

Anyway, maybe you should choose your words wisely the first time you want to say anyone "blew" anything, lest you be deemed "out of line".

Filmed in Sacramento, Portland, and Victoria by the Nine Inch Nails team, edited and produced by their fans, The Gift is a stunning work in 1080p High Definition video with 5.1 Surround Sound, multi-language subtitles, and artistically-driven ethics.

Bravo!

I win. After three dvdrs I finally got this thing burned and I am now watching it on my ps2 on my crap television woo!

Hopefully later today I can try it on the nice HD tv with the surround sound, if the dvd decides to cooporate and work in that dvd player lol

But one again I thank you guys what you have put together is incredibly special and amazing. I so can not wait for Vegas!

12/26/09 12:01 PM

Well, here's Trent's exact words on how they "blew" the making of the DVD (so to imply its "shitty" to say they "blew it"winking smiley....i didn't. Trent said it himself. I alreay chose my words..and they were right.....choose yours correctly next time. The opportunity was lost....then has been made up by a fan put-together product of epic proportions.

"File this one under lost opportunities.

"I'm very proud of the show we've put together for this tour and have been working hard the last few months to find a way to capture it. I had an amazing situation lined up that would have allowed me to film the show in 3D with James Cameron's team for a theatrical release as well as DVD / BluRay, etc. We had an extra date added to the tour that we were going to give away all the tickets for and have a filming party / thank you show.

"I made two critical mistakes. One was to approach a certain record company that owns some of the song rights about producing / funding. The second was to allow said company to fuck around as usual for months before saying um... no. We then achieved the impossible by finding alternate production / funding but the timetable is too rushed to get it filmed comfortably with the remaining time left on the tour. This tour and a lot of the personnel involved finish at the end of this leg, so we can't push filming into Jan / Feb.

"Deep breath...
This was an amazing tour and production - certainly the best thing I've ever been involved with and likely the final tour for NIN on this scale. Thank you to those who came out to see it and forgive me for having a Kanye West moment, but this was FOR SURE the best show of the year and any bullshit end-of-the-year poll you may read in the next few weeks that says otherwise simply has it wrong. Those of you who saw it know I'm right.

My reading comprehension doesn't see "I blew it"...it sees that things were beyond their control...which, they were...and yet, Trent still delivered us with amazing footage that was edited by the fans.

Jesus, give it a rest.

12/26/09 12:58 PM

Guys, this is a joyous time! Don't fight!

12/26/09 1:09 PM

I just watched the dvd and it is amazing, I was literally jumping in front of my tv. Thank you very much to all the ones that were involved in the project, you made a great job, I love and respect you, and what you have come up with. Of course thanks to Trent and NIN for providing the footage. Thank you all, thank you, thank you...

I can't wait to see it in blu ray, hopefully one kind soul will made a copy for me smiling smiley

Thank you

After nearly a year of wait, it is THE version of "the gift".

Simply love it, even if I skipped some parts like The Warning, Vessel, Survivalism and Only.

"Hurt" makes me nearly cry...

Thanks for the good work !

First off, thanks to all who made this happen, this is awesome. However, the DLDVD seems to be pretty corrupt for me. Everything works great if I open the raw VideoTS folder with VLC player (the .VOB files), but every time I try to burn an image I get warnings that VTS_01_0.BUP and VTS_01_0.IFO don't match (I tried thelastdesciple's workaround, it didn't work). The resulting .iso image won't give me any picture with WMP, and a broken flickering picture with VLC player and Zoom Player. Anyone else having these issues or have any solutions?
If the actual (possibly corrected)DVD files (the .BUPs and .IFOs) could be thrown up for direct download that would be quite helpful (since they total about 300kb).
Thanks again.

Note: I'm using Nero Burning ROM 9 to burn the images.

currently d/l'ing the dvd-dl version. Wishing it would go faster, but patient enough to wait happily. Thank you all again for making this possible and in so many versions too!!!

You all rock!!

12/26/09 4:50 PM

I just finished downloading - took about 12 hours - thanks Time Warner Cable.

I used clonedvd2 from Elaborate Bytes

Took about 15 mins to burn to a DVD - no problems whatsoever.

A big thanks to everyone on the TOIOU team - I will keep seeding indefinitely.

12/26/09 4:52 PM

has anyone had any problems with the ipod version having no sound when watching it on an ipod? I have a classic ipod and the video is just fine but there is no sound. I haven't troubleshot anything yet with the file itself but I figured I'd shoot out the question on here while I had the chance.

Downloaded and used IMGburn instead. I guess it's how it's encoded, becuase Zoom Player and WMP still can't play it. However, it works fine on VLC player. Really strange.

12/26/09 6:27 PM

Is the ipod version meant for downloading onto your computer and then adding it to itunes or do you click on the link using safari on iphone just to play it? When I click on the download link on my pc it won't do anything, even open up a download window.
