Watching the gift right now on my HD tv with surround sound finally.
So much better than my small tv in the basement. God I love this DVD

Thanks for all you help guys. Just got it to finally work. Im an idiot and had never even heard of a DLDVD's. Picked some up today, and Im watching it right now. All I can say is...Fucking Amazing!

I was at the Sacramento show and this brings back some fine memories.

Any idea how the whole blu-Ray thing will work. Do we have to wait for the physical release, or can Blu-rays be burned at home? Probably another stupid question smiling smiley

Just to add my experience - burned the DLDVD version to SLDVD - waiting for some DL's to come through, as never used them (or needed to) before. Worked first time using DVD Shrink @ 72.4% of original quality. Have watched some of the file direct on TV via computer, as well as (obviously) the DVD, and now unsure about the dual layer aspect - for people who've done both versions - is the DL burnt version like night and day, or just better, but not amazingly better?

Anyway, just want to add my sincere thanks to EVERYONE involved. We're all proud of you! Soooo exceeded my expectations! TBH, if this was an official release - wouldn't be complaining at all. PLus it was great to see my name in the pdf - now officially part of NIN history!!

It's better, but not AMAZINGLY BETTER. DVDshrink does a really good job at maintaining the quality. You should see the actual DVD compressed from the source....definitely a noticeable difference between THAT and the DL!

Have now done the DL (my first - took 80 minutes) and it is definitely better quality, but as you say, not amazingly better. For all of you who are going to be sticking with SLDVD, don't be too disappointed, it is more than adequate!!

Many thanks to nmelville for the file replacement tip when using nero, wouldn't have had a clue otherwise! In NIN-heaven right now, this is superb. Can't wait for the bonus footage! The Big Comedown is gonna rock!

A BIG THANK to all involved in this DVD-fan release! All of you made an amazing work! Thank you so much!!! Can't wait for the furthercoming releases!!!

Rock on!!!

Was there a title screen developed for this or a menu with chapters so you can select just individual songs? Not sure if when you burn it, that will appear but when I click on the file it only shows the long 2 hour whole concert with no chapters. This is great work, I just want to know if I'm somehow overlooking something. Thanks, it was great holiday gift.

I downloaded these two torrents both TOIOU_NIN_AVOTT_GIFT_1080p51

and TOIOU_NIN_AVOTT_GIFT_1080p I believe they were the mov file for computers and the blu ray link that I don't think is up anymore on the site unless that is changed to the playstation 3 one. Hope that helps you answer my question.

2 problems:

1- my fucking computer isn't detecting the dvd+rDL [yes, it does say DVD+R DL on the drive]
[edit]- just popped a movie in and it looks like the drive is being touchy at the moment because it's not detecting that either

2- following these instructions after i hit calculate a 'create layer break position' window comes up and i don't know wtf to do with that

if it's not even detecting the disk, it looks like i'm just going to have to wait for the physical copy =/

^^I got that window also - does it have a list of files with stars on the left? One of the files has a yellow star (all the rest are white), so I highlighted the file with the yellow star and clicked OK. Here is the tutorial that I used: [forum.imgburn.com].

Both of those formats that you downloaded are just the movie file - with no menu. Download the DL DVD or SL DVD if you want to see want to see a menu/sub-menus with chapter selections.

Yes, it does, SwimFan. Thank you!

I'll give burning a try again tomorrow. Right now I'm on to plan B because I'm pretty sure my disk drive needs to be replaced. I'm downloading 1080p version and am going to hook my computer up to my brother's tv so I can still watch it on a big screen this weekend, woooo!

What a phenomenal DVD.

Many thanks to the whole TOIOU crew! You're amazing.

Such an amazing piece of work!
Thanks to all involved!

It looks and sounds beyond anything I could have dreamed of!

I'm totally full of woot about this release, but I have a question before I jump on one of the torrents (and I apologize if this has already been covered). What's the difference between the Apple TV/computer 720p version and the PS3/Computer 720p version codec and bitrate wise? Also do these have the stereo or 5.1 audio mix?

12/31/09 3:33 AM

I'm watching it right now. This is really great work!
My feelings are very probably different from what the ones have that were at these shows. You know, the whole experience with the monitors, lightz, bigness etc.

great dvd, easily the best LITS one there is out there... but... am I the only one who noticed how weird colors are in some parts of the show? Does anybody know why that is ? its like really annoying sometimes, and in a few songs images look like they had effects put on them in photoshop. It's kind of hard to explain.

Could this be a download error ?

they screwed up in color correction and the crew voted against fixing it.

Actually, yes. Trent does look a bit orange while playing the Xylophone in Ghosts 21! Having seen the original footage, I know this wasn't due to a big tanning sesh....

12/31/09 10:30 AM

The only part that really bothers me is Gave Up. In that song it is alarmingly obvious that there is something wrong. It really frustrated me at first but i'm over it now. I don't even really like Gave Up anyways.

12/31/09 1:40 PM

Wow, fantastic. So much better than I ever would have imagined. Well done to everyone involved, it's a great job and look's brilliant.

Well I meant more along the lines that nearly every edit I've seen has barely any shots of him.Almost like he wasn't in the band.

Yeah I know! Did you see the Buenos Aires webcast Footage? Ally was only in it for a total of like 10 seconds.

Unfortunately. I'd like to see Ally some more in it.

So FINALLY the magic version was the PS3 version that worked on my computer. I'm really proud of everyone involved with this project. It shows that you've all worked so hard to put together something as professional as possible with what you were given, and the end product is fantastic! My parents aren't huge NIN fans, but do like the instrumentals/piano/Ghosts stuff, and they really enjoyed watching it as well. I can't wait to get the DVD and mess around with the menus. Again, I can't thank you guys enough for taking this on.

Popped the DLDVD into my new PS3 which therefore displayed on to my new 32 inch LCD HDTV, despite it not being a Blu-Ray it looked pretty damn amazing, curious about the PS3 file that is actually 1080p res? I'm guessing i could just download it, move it on to my thumb drive and watch it from there?

The PS3 file is 720p. I downloaded both DLDVD&PS3 files. Put PS3 file to a flash drive and moved/copied to PS3. The quality isn't nearly as good as the DLDVD. Plus you don't get a menu with the PS3 file and you won't be able to skip songs because there are no chapters. Stick with the DLDVD until we can hopefully get a blu-ray copy. I can't believe this can actually get better.

You know - I wouldn't expect the BD to be of any visual quality near BYIT - that was filmed with extremely high end cameras with rigs and what not while this was filmed by HD consumer cameras by some guys walking around the venue.

Just thought I'd point that out...
