I just finally opened the Sac show in Final Cut, and since I have 5.1, I'm sequencing the clips manually.

It seems there's some discrepancies in the lengths of the corresponding clips (i.e. CAM1-1 shows a length of 39:32:02 while CAM3-1 shows 39:32:00). Is this happening with everyone else?

In this case, is it more important that the clips begin at the same point? I thought they were supposed to automatically line up?

01/21/09 7:33 PM

it wont matter that they are not lined up at the end. The key is that they line up at the start. They were likely locked to a central clock source so they are all synced with each other throughout. Just worry about the front lining up.

01/21/09 8:34 PM

Yeah, sacramento doesn't line up. And Cam 2-1 has more in it than I thought. I thought it ended at closer, but it comes back from black into some of the ghosts songs. That's as far as I've seen it so far.

01/22/09 8:10 AM

I just watched Victoria CAM1, and it looks great, but when I watched Victoria CAM3, I noticed that the image is blurring and vibrating in time with the bass-drum in the songs. Is this a glitch due to the camera that was used being vibrated by the rumbling of the music?, or was the camera operator having too much fun to hold it still? Or mabey the cameraman was being vibrated by the bassdrum? Or mabey they were too close to a speaker stack? Please dont take these questions the wrong way, Im quite elated about the videos being made available, Im not complaining, Im just technically curious, as the video in CAM3 is almost unusable for DVD authoring due to all the blur and vibrating going on, and I would love to know what made it act like that. Does anyone know what make and model of camera was used? Hopefully CAMs 2, 4, and 5 are a bit more stable. smiling smiley

Anyways, Cheers, and thanks for the terrific gig and christmas gift(s)!

Yeah, lining up the beginning is the key (just like the .txt file says, duh).

And yes, it seems some of the cameras closer to the stacks are vibrating a good bit from the bass. Alas, that's what happens when you don't go all out with special equipment to film a show. At least we have what we do, aye?

01/23/09 4:01 AM

alright, i'm one of the people having trouble playing the 2nd and 3rd parts, but the 1st part plays perfectly. in my case, it is sacramento angle 1. i'm using vlc and, like i said, part 1 plays perfectly. parts 2 and 3 play the video, but no audio. if i use a different player, i can hear the audio and get either no video, or laggy video.

so, i would like to extract the audio and video into 2 different files and then throw them into some software, sync up the audio and video, and then export as 1 file without actually doing any converting. i don't want any loss in quality.

any recommendations regarding software for windows vista that could pull this off?

This is the first time I'm using BitTorrent. I'm in the process of downloading all three shows and I have Final Cut Pro, blah blah blah

When I look at the BitTorrent program for the Sacramento concert (for example), it's showing me that I'm only 1.2% complete. When I view the torrent I can see that the size of the file is 113GB. When I open the folder to where the files are being stored, the folder size is at 101.56GB. The folder only contains the Sacramento show files. By doing some basic math, I can tell that the folder is about 90% of the entire file.

Am I missing something or is the BitTorrent progress feature not reliable and maybe I can start editing sooner than later?

Thanks for any help, tips, etc... when it comes to torrents.

What client are you using? Some will tell you how far along each file in the complete torrent is, others will not.

Needless to say I would be hesitant to edit before the entire torrent completes, if you do not have this information.

From what I can tell, I'm using BitTorrent-4.27.2-Beta.

It does have an option to see what percentage of each file is downloaded. This looks off too. For example, Cam1-1.mov it shows I've only downloaded 1.6 of 7.3GB. When I open the actual file, it already shows 7.3 has been downloaded.

For Cam1-2.mov the file is 8.7GB where I've downloaded 8.63GB and the tool is showing only .7% done.

The good thing is the folder size is increasing. Yesterday it was about 86GB and today is 101GB so I am making progress.

Grrrr..

The program will create and expand the file to it's actual size, before you're ever near completion. Think of it as a container. The container has to be large enough to hold all the contents meant for it, the torrent program just fills it up bit by bit as you download.

Thanks,

That makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, that means I have a long way to go.

Maybe I will try and download all the camera 1's first (cam1-1, cam2-1, cam3-1, etc...) until completion and see if it let's me edit the first third of the show.

Thanks for your input.

I would recommend going for all the CAM 1 footage first. So then you can at least import those into the video editing application of your choice, and watch the entire show. I JUST finished Victoria. Took me from the 10th, until this morning. I must've watched the CAM 1 footage 800 times. But it gave me some idea of where I want to insert other angles into the footage, etc.

My advice, be patient. smiling smiley

I switch tools from BitTorrent to Vuze for the MAC and I've been experiencing a much faster download rate. I think I'm on my way now.

Thanks,

John

Vuze is badass. Create an account with vuze and add me as a friend. We can share bandwidth directly in that manner. That goes for anyone else with Vuze for that matter. My name there is the same as it is here.

pc+vlc-demuxing+adobe premiere cs4 (my setup):

in this case it´s important to set the clip reference at the endpoints in adobe´s timeline.
first line the audiotracks together and after this the video right at the ends, first if i used the startpoints the video/audio runs out of sync, so i found the endpoint-method working fine.
but maybe that´s just in my case, don´t know what about other pc setups.

and yes, sacramento cam2-1 you must get in sync manually, there´s no exact start- or end-referencepoint. i´s doing this by setting clipmarkers at exactly the same point in 2 videoclips (any good viewable short things like a handmove of trent or something like that) premiere cs4 gives the ability to set the sync of these 2 clips un use of this 2 clipmarks.

a bunch of the stuff in this forum is in .rar format.

does anyone know a good easy to use free or cheap ($10) .rar converter to be able to view/use the files?

winrar. You can use the free version indefinitely. It just yells at you to purchase everytime you open a .rar file. Big deal.

So far i've downloaded Sacramento Cam 1 File 1 & 2. (In Australia ADSL ok but limited Downloads.)

With Quicktime I can hear the audio on both files but no video, and with VLC I can hear the audio on both files but only can see video on file 1.

I found this very odd. Anyways is there a codec pack I can get to solve this or do I have to re-encode?

Whats is this "super" mention above?

Any help will do.

THanks all

So far I have tried many options with several people, including some users on here and several hours of troubleshooting with Apple. The only thing we can get to work so far is to Open Your VLC Player, hit tools, down to preferences. then click the "All" button at the bottom to display the items on the left in a list format. Click the arrow next to demuxers, then click the word itself. On the tab on the right, scroll down to select FFmpeg demuxer. Save this setting, restart your vlc. You can now watch the video with the sound. The drawbacks... possibly the video will stutter/skip around a bit at times (not all the time), and you will not be able to do a true fastforward or rewind.

That should help you view something until a solution is found to make it work in the latest quicktime.

ps. QT pro does not help.

Now I'm having the opposite problem. I can get video using the VLC program, but I can't get audio. Is that a problem with my computer or the VLC program? I get audio from all other programs just fine, but no video.

How do I edit the portland files so I can burn them onto a dvd? The files are from 7.5-10 Gb each and a typical dvd is 4.7 Gb. If you have a quick fix will you please email me directly.

I have a few questions here... i've been downloading this for 3 weeks and i am barely at 50%, anyone have suggestions on how to get this any quicker? (please keep in mind i'm not well versed in the world of torrents, i know how to get stuff but no idea how to get it faster). Second, the files that I have received & played have this gray grid on the screen that seem permanent. It really annoying cus it covers most of the video frame. Does anyone have any idea why i'm getting this? Is there a way to turn it off? Am I getting this because the files haven't finished downloading?

Thanks for your help.

ps. i'm watching the files in quicktime with the HDV plug-in installed.

--- !!!!!!! HELP !!!!!!! ---

I have tried to download all three of the torrent files that Rob linked on the first page of the HD downlaod links forum. I cannot get ANY of them to load, connect, download, or anything else like that at all. I am opening the links up with LimeWire and it gives me this message:

(LimeWire was unable to load the torrent file "Nine_Inch_Nails_Live_Video_2008_12_05_Victoria_BC.torrent" -it may be malformed or LimeWire does not have permission to access this file.)

I really don't understand what in the hell the problem is here. I may or may not have downlaoded "things" from LimeWire before, and if I ever had downlaoded any thing from LimeWire I have NEVER had ANY trouble downloading before. I browsed through a few various forums related to "the gift" threads and so far, have not seen that anyone else has posted any problems with actually getting the download to... well, download! PLEASE, if any one can help me I would be extremely greatful! Thanks!

(In case this helps with anything; I am running the following system-)

Dell XPS 400
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3
Dual Core Intel Pentium 4 HT Processors

**And I have a 10 meg broadband ISP**

01/30/09 3:42 PM

Try VLC (videolan.org/VLC) It can play it.

01/30/09 3:43 PM

The codec for viewing files on a pc doesn't exist, that's the fun part. You'd need to convert it.

Try this thread.

And the surrounding threads... this one has some great stuff in it thumbs up
