They are just going to make a Torrent File and then we are going to press our own, right? Just like with the DVD release. They aren't pressing any disks themselves are they? It is up to the fans to download and press as far as I can tell. Also, what is the difference in rights on Blu-Ray and DVD? It is the same material, just in a different format. Am I missing something?
Here's why I prefer pressing new BDs over burning BD-Rs:
1. BDs will play in all players, BD-Rs will not
2. Not everyone has 25GB free on their hard drive
3. Not everyone has a BD-R burner for their computer
I realize there are such things as external hard drives and external BD-R burners, but they don't solve #1 and they can be prone to ejection and SSSSSLLLLLLOOOOOOWWWWWNNNNNEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS....
As for me personally, I wish I could burn a BD-R, but my hard drive doesn't have 25GB of space (but plenty on the external hard drives) and I have no blu-ray burner. So that's my story
I liked all of your points and I understand that a commercial pressing would be the ideal situation, but if it isn't possible and you don't have the requirements to burn the Disc yourself then that is what this thread is for! Just ask one of us who does have the capability and then you will have the Disc and you won't even have to buy a new Hard Drive! I would also love to be able to get a perfect store bought copy with all the glossy printed pages and artwork, but since the band isn't doing this themselves I don't think that is going to happen at all.
Just so you know, I do have two external hard drives (three if you count my Time Machine external hard drive, one of them is for my Macintosh OS X partition and the other for my Windows XP partition). However, I have no BD-R burner nor a desire to buy one. Also, the only BD-R burning software on OS X are Toast 10 and Compressor in the latest Final Cut Studio suite.
So that settles it: I'm here to ask somebody to burn me a BD-R of AVOTT:The Gift, and I will pay for both the recordable Blu-Ray disc and the shipping & handling. It seems like we can't get it pressed without actually owning it, and I'm out of luck in burning a BD-R myself, so as a result, I'll ask one of you guys to do it for me.
As soon as it is released PM me and I will give you an address to send your materials.
