Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park created a mixtape (mixing other people's shit, not Linkin Park). In this mixtape he had Ghosts 1, Track 7 with Mobb Deep's Shook Ones mixed over it. Anyway here's the link if you want to even check it out. That part of the mixtape actually flowed well and was the longest recognizable song on there (plus that's one of the few Mobb Deep songs I like). I can't say that for the rest of it, especially the lead in remix with Pearl Jam.

I came across with this ... "New U2 Single Sounds Like Nine Inch Nails"
posted:
Just as the Edge told Rolling Stone a few weeks back, the song starts out with some fuzzy guitar and drums, but Edge’s trademark clean sea of delayed layering is missing. Instead the pair kicks off the single with some industrial sine wave riffing that would fit perfectly on Trent Reznor’s Year Zero concept album.

Bono’s vocals are also reminiscent of Reznor’s clean, too-close-for-comfort vocals of late.

The article has the song embedded in it, and the U2 song sounds like ... anything but a NIN song. It surely sounds different from a typical U2 song, but absolutely nothing like NIN, IMHO.

I just found this article on my german email account site.

the title is (roughly):
the fan: from the evil music pirate to the idolized customer

it first talks about some artists that i have never heard of that supposedly started all this "sharing" and then it says that trent reznor brought the whole thing to perfection. i have never liked articles on this web page, they are usually very boring with no professionalism. but i was surprised to read something about nin...

its in german, of course....

I've just found this in my RSS reader:
REPO: THE GENETIC OPERA (Lionsgate)
posted:
Take some Sweeney Todd in the form of a lead character whose work is slashing people to death. Throw in rocking, camp visuals ala Rocky Horror. Add a set that’s part-Moulin Rouge, part-Rent.

Notice there are nothing but musicals? Put together a killer backing band that includes members of Bauhaus/Love & Rockets, Joan Jett, Nine Inch Nails/Skinny Puppy and some Jane’s Addiction. Season said cinematic epic with frames from a comic book.

Call this unholy train wreck Repo: The Genetic Opera. Yet once it starts playing, go ahead and try to take your eyes off of it. You won’t.
I've got to see this film, but there's no release date whatsoever here in Tokyo. sad smiley

Really no idea is too stupid, unless somehow you manage to lose the camera in the process like Nine Inch Nails did in an early video shoot where someone had the idea to tie the camera to a balloon and let it film the activity- only to have the inflatable tripod escape from the band to eventually be found by the public and grilled for its questionable content.

I agree, this sounds nothing like NIN. I am not sure what makes them think that TR sounds anything like this.It may have the same "feel" or sort of groovy beat as Discipline, but I am not sure where they think it would fit into Year Zero.

Yeah, there's a "fit" all right. Reznor's work in the last few years feels like it's crammed in this piece in an off-handed way (way off-handed). The music industry and then some know about NIN. It's like ignoring the elephant in the room. eye rolling smiley

Get On Your Boots

The future needs a big kiss
Winds blows with a twist
Never seen a moon like this
Can you see it too?

Night is falling everywhere
Rockets at the fun fair
Satan loves a bomb scare
But he won't scare you
Hey, sexy boots
Get on your boots, yeah

You free me from the dark dream
Candy floss ice cream
All our kids are screaming
But the ghosts ( eye popping smiley ) aren't real
Here's where we gotta be
Love and community
Laughter is eternity
If joy is real

You don't know how beautiful
You don't know how beautiful you are
You don't know, and you don't get it, do you?
You don't know how beautiful you are

That's someone's stuff they're blowing up
We're into growing up
Women of the future
Hold the big revelations

I got a submarine
You got gasoline
I don't want to talk about wars between nations
Not right now

Hey sexy boots...
Get on your boots, yeah
Not right now
Bossy boots

You don't know how beautiful
You don't know how beautiful you are
You don't know, and you don't get it, do you?
You don't know how beautiful you are

Hey sexy boots
I don't want to talk about the wars between the nations
Sexy boots, yeah
Let me in the sound [etc]
Meet me in the sound

Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound, now
God, I'm going down
I don't wanna drown now
Meet me in the sound
Let me in the sound [etc]
Meet me in the sound
Get on your boots [etc]
Yeah hey hey
