What bands were opening for NIN during Performance 2007?

What's the status of the Wave Goodbye club tour footage?

Looking at a couple dates, it seems like a lot of local bands opened up.

I've read that Trent used an Emax, a Mini Moog and a Mac to make Pretty Hate but I was hoping for a little more detail. Specifically the synth that he used for the opening melody of Down In It as well as part of The Only Time and perhaps one or two more songs? A friend of mine considered that it may be a modified horn sound but was unsure, any thoughts? Thanks.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think it is from a Yamaha DX-7. I'm not sure which patch was used, but it certainly sounds like some de-tuning was done in addition to some normal synthesis. I have a DX-7, so I'll try to some investigating and see what I can find out.

Sometime ago I had my HDD completely wipe on me and I had completely lost loads of data, now I thought I had recovered it with one thing missing, a very good Lights in the sky remix from nin.remix.com. The Track was called "Lights in The Sky (Waving Goodbye)" and started very much like the original track but with a really solid drum beat with little to no effects added behind it that built up as the track progressed. I can't remember the user and after a quick search on the remix site I can't find it.

It was fairly highrated around 90+ and isn't the one titled "LIGHTS IN THE SKY (WAVING GOODBYE)" by user FAIBOR.

If anyone here thinks they have that track please please can you help me regain it as I often miss listening to it.

Thanks again!

I checked Ninwiki for March of the Fuckhead and it says that contrary to popular belief it is an original track - however on remix.nin.com - Trent's description of the song is : Remixed by Adrian Sherwood, taken from Closer to God. Question: who's right? Trent Reznor on Remix, or Ninwiki? (a little tongue in cheek but seriously want to have this mini-convo as I am trying to put together original non-album tracks for a future election - thanks!)

06/09/10 2:22 AM

i think Sherwood took elements from several songs and the resulting mix was too far from either of songs on album so they put it out under a different name, just like Throw This Away being a combined mix of Suck and Last. you got the idea, it is an original, because it's got its own name and because there are no words from other songs in it.

06/10/10 8:49 AM

Gotcha, that makes sense. So either way it would count more as a remix than an original Nine Inch Nails b-side or non-album track. Thanks for the reply

Does anyone know where I could get a HQ recording, MP3 preferred, of the 2005 live version of Closer, with the bridge from The Only Time?

Thanks.

I have a question about live touring. When Trent would do live shows, he'd always have this little device on the back of his pants with a small green light, Robin would have it too. I was wondering what that was? Is it a wireless lapel? It's also hooked up to something that went in his ear also

06/15/10 1:02 PM

^ in-ear monitors. rather than having the wedge monitors on the stage facing them, they receive the sound mix wirelessly in their earbuds.

06/15/10 4:32 PM

I see, so basically Trent would get a feed of the mix to be able to hear himself? Must be kinda awkward not being able to hear the crowd, but the hearing protection must outweigh the cons

06/17/10 6:39 AM

I dunno if it's about hearing protection as much as it is being able to hear the monitors easier. The monitor mix isn't even supposed to be how it sounds out there, but enough of everything the band is doing that everyone can actually hear what they're doing.

When you're on stage, it's not like you can hear the crowd much anyway.

I bought a copy of the And All That Could Have Been CD today, and it came with an order form for Still. Knowing that it came out 8 years ago, I doubt you can still use it, but can you still use the order form?

I highly doubt it, or you get it from the official Merch store

Got a new hard question for everybody!

Can anyone pick/pinpoint who is in this photo with TR from PHM (early 90's) era?

http://technoccult.net/oldimages/2007/10/normal_phm_band.jpg

It's an awesome photo. Too bad its so small/blurred.

06/27/10 1:45 PM

I'm thinking of getting the words "Beside you in time" as a tattoo...

...in Japanese. I'm sure it's a long shot but does anyone know how to translate the phrase into Kanji? You know, accurately?

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot.

your best bet will be to ask/search for photo/scan of japanese "beside you in time" dvd, it has the translation.

i mean this, but in higher resolution

The big fellow to the right of Trent *might* be Peter Christopherson although I am probably incorrect.

Used the search to find numan + download and nothing came up so asking it here.

Does anyone have mp3s made of the numan with NIN shows?

I honestly don't know where this post belongs so, by all means, moderators go ahead and move/delete this....or tell me to shut the fuck up

is there any way possible-ever-for me to contact Trent or someone who might give a shit in the NIN machine... I am a huge fan (obviously) who wants to serve NIN/Trent in some way. I have nothing else to live for really. So is there anyway I can contribute to NIN either physically or just financially? Whats the best route to pursue if I just want to give TR some money? Like directly to HIM and not some merch company or record label. If I can't be apart of Nine Inch Nails in anyway I would love to give some money or work or labor or something as a way of simply saying THANK YOU. For example if Trent ever needed a new kidney or some blood---->he can have mine, done deal, no questions asked. Or maybe Atticus' brother's neighbor's cousin's friend needs help moving a sofa- I'm up for it. :-)

lol. this post probably sounds weird. But im really just a huge fan who loves NIN(not a stalker). If I could DO something to benefit the progress of the art form known as Nine Inch Nails I will do it.

Thanks,
Adam

to hell with it- heres my phone number- i dont give a shit. [mod edit: removed phone #]

...You have nothing else to live for? Honestly, what kind of existence do you live?

I would think if Trent wanted anything, he'd want someone to be inspired by what he's done and want to see them maybe try to do something similar. You must be good at something--music, writing, drawing, painting, driving a forklift--so go pursue that.

Also: Ghosts and The Slip were both released by Trent's own label, so all the money from those goes to him.

nah it's not Sleazy, but i have no clue who it could be.

Richard Patrick is on the left and the guy squatting to TR's right looks like James Woolley to me, but i'm unsure.

Just wondering: why? You want a tattoo WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.
