I personally think the painting is intruiging. (sp?) lol! Love the bright colors against the stark white. My lil' rods an cones in my eyes are always seeing in cmyk! lol! BEAUTIFUL! It's always nice to see what someone elses eyes appreciate and find fascinating. BTW~ I'm with Trent~ People...start paying attention to what is going on in our country! We are sooo fucked and will be more so if we don't do something about it in this next election. Wake up! Get up and do something about it! Use the freedom and the right to vote~ WHERE ATTENTION GOES, ENERGY FLOWS!

Sorry I can't resist this...

All's quiet on the Western front? eye rolling smiley

I still haven't figured out who the artist is but I do love the painting. Random painting/mural/image searches are turning up nothing so...

LMAO THIS might explain it!

Ya know I HAVE this ACTUAL FREAKING ISSUE at home, but have not read it yet! But NOW I KNOW why you might wanna be there, aside from the fact it looks like a really cool place! grinning smiley

The pic reminds me of a cuban or spanish Norman Rockwell painting.. the colors and strokes are like his and well you can deff see the culture in it. Not something I would hang in my place, but each to their own.

El Triunfo is on the right hand side of the Cathedral and was the first Christian church in Cusco. It was built on the site of Suntur Huasi (the Roundhouse), the main Inca armoury where the Spanish were trapped during Manco Inca's siege in 1536. When the Incas burned the city the thatched roof of Suntur Huasi caught fire, but then mysteriously went out. The Spanish later broke out and recaptured Sacsayhuaman, ending the siege. Before long the "miracle" had grown into a vision of the Virgin Mary extinguishing the flames, accompanied by Saint James (Santiago) on horseback, streading terror among the natives. The church was built to commemorate this victory and the miracle.

So is the painting on a wall of El Triunfo?

Either way, I think it captures the significance of this story by being a painting of a man painting St. James--so it's doubly emphasized.

Its the hand of God. Read Revelations. Then man on the horse will be un named until the time comes.

the supposed first horse out when the lamb opens the first seal ... although, reading another comment, historical events in paintings are not that uncommon, especially when "miracles" or major events are involved. And all I can say is it's about bloody time you gentlemen actually saw & experienced the cities/countires where you tour. Now apply that to the next time you go to Europe or Asia, add a wee side trip to Africa checking out places like Kruger National Park, Kenya, Namibia, Zimbabwe (national wildlife parks) or the Masai (some amazingly, awesome ppl) & you will almost be well cultured individuals. Just a suggestion that's all. Enjoy the vaca & the rest. It's been well deserved not to mention a long time coming.

wtf is that shit?

wait!!! I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!..........

Two Hispanics and a child... one painting, one sitting down, one doing absolutely nothing.

No meaning unless you over observe it into being something entirely different than what it really is.... "A painting"

10/14/08 9:07 AM

Paintings usually have meanings, you know.

Agreed. I'll clarify. It has nothing to do with the artist's style just my interpretation.

If you've found the painting/mural please post!

edit: I suppose it could be a hand or flowing fabric. I see something different now. >_< Wish I could find the whole painting.

"Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap"
São Jorge is wath men paint: he was a chevalie in roman empire in Kapadócia is the most
reverend saint in popular culture in Latino America but....he was chassed by Catolic Religion... SALVE JORGE
tendo mãos não me peguem, tendo olhos não me vejam,

Jesus Cristo, me proteja e me defenda
protegendo-me em todas as minhas dores e aflições,

fiquem humildes e submissos a vós.
