people arguing over a lack of goth in here now?

i don't think trent was ever 'goth'. he may have had that kinda visual style, but for the most part, i've always considered nin to be rock, but with many other elements like industrial, and his more ambient instrumental pieces.

people are always whining that he's not industrial anymore as well lately, and trying to find little bits of new songs that have some semblance of 'old' nin to cling onto.

trent did industrial ages ago, and said himself we was getting tired of it and wanted to do something new. this was before 'the fragile'.

i know there's still some industrial in that album, and some possibly goth undertones with his older lyrics, but really, i feel he was just creating some interesting kickass rock, like maynard or nick cave does in their own unique way.

each album is, and always will be different, and we should all know by now that nin never does the same album twice. (not counting remix releases).

each new album has a totally different direction, sound, style and lyrical motivation, and i think that's what makes them cool albums.

honestly, some people should just buy themselves a new copy of PHM or spiral once a year, rather than any new stuff trent puts out if they want more goth or industrial smiling smiley

you are a cheerful bunch, don't get me wrong. its just seeing people getting getting worked up about whats going on can be frustrating, when its so completely obvious what is actually going on.

honestly, if i thought there was a slight chance dave navarro was joining nin, i could not sleep tonight.

he is an amazing guitar player, and equally and amazing slimeball.

but anyways-i did not mean anything against any of the regulars here, i just fear for what thoughts are going through some of your heads.

Hanging out in the photoblog threads can be bad for your mental health. There's slightly more sanity elsewhere.

Kind of.

Sometimes.

the funny thing is, if i were to look at any info like this while the whole year zero thing was going down, i would of all thought you were the craziest bunch of freaks on the planet.

that was some weird, but really cool stuff.

very different from this situation though.

02/12/09 7:49 PM

i read a post about the first clue photo a few days ago, and thought it was very interesting how someone was taking this approach to the numbers in the file name and what not.

i think that kind of stuff is where trent is fucking with everyone, and thats where the focus should be.

not trying to figure out why 3 members of janes addiction are in a recording studio.

That's how he gets so much done! I wonder how he survives with so little sleep. I need my eight hours haha.

i heard after they did the recent show with eric in la, they were planning to do a new record with all original members. that would be cool. in my opinion cooler than a box set, but both would be great im sure.

hopefully there is no confusion of perry farrell taking the spot of vocalist for nin.

sorry, had to say it.

02/12/09 8:17 PM

you guys remember last year when trent's voice was shot after so many shows?

maybe he going to be working with a new band and have 2 vocalist???

Seems he is trying to be a little vague about just "what" he is doing for sure. Maybe NIN is a thing of the past, maybe a new name, NINJA someone said? Kinda cool....

I wish ya the best trent, you have one helluva imagination and a whole helluva lot of talent!

I am excited to hear about anything you do myself!

it would be interesting to hear jane's addiction and NIN together, boy that would be a lot of people and egos on stage.

trent is such a machine, and farrell puts together the Lollapalooza festivals, so could be a bit of calaboration for the masses.

cannot WAIT to see what comes outta all this.

Yeah, I don't understand it either. I like how each NIN album is different, and I think that's what keeps things exciting! IDK why from a fanatic perspective, certain people feel as if their artists of choice should just do what they personally want. When it's impossible to please everyone. As they say.."Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one!" What I believe is most important is for the artist to do what they are most passionate about, and what makes them happy. As peoples lives change, it's not uncommon for the music to change as well. As many write about their current experiences, from a different mind state, or just on new topics to keep things fresh. I think it's best to keep the music as raw, and pure as possible. To never change for a crowd/particular popularity of a certain market, but to ALWAYS do what you feel, and stay as true to yourself as possible.

02/12/09 8:31 PM

I have always thought in the back of my mind that brittany spears could use a man like trent in her life to teach her something about men and music.

maybe they will hook up, he could produce her next album,,,,,he is a good producer.

02/12/09 8:34 PM

thought I would change the subject up a bit, you know she is working on her tour next door to trent and co right now.

i wish them both the best on their next venture out into the world with their art.

the media has treated them both like crap over the years, and now they both deserve all the best!

night

it's good to be alive.
tonight's *aaaaawe* goes, like a California breeze round the perfect shape of a skull, to
The Sheridan. first shot of magic this year. love the impact, a slow explosion in absolute silence. definitely not a commodity. more like the first spark. the fact that you want more only means you need the light.

seems everyone's warmed up& good to go now smiling smiley

shit look at a band like metallica. their first 3 albums were amazing. the next two, not so amazing. the rest- in my opinion shit.

but metallica still has the right to evolve into whatever happens naturally. we cant expect these people to do what we all want.

i think the fragile is the best nin to date. i have been a fan since 1989, but am happy with what evolution has done.
