Wow! Finally! late last year, I posted a comment to hopefully see an nin.com app come out and its finally here. Check out the similarities with my mock up here: [forum.nin.com]

04/07/09 12:56 AM

Looking forward to this baby! God I wish I could fiddle around with this app right now!

04/07/09 1:41 AM

I'm kinda stoked about this. I wouldn't consider myself much of a "social bug" but i'm kind of excited to check out the local comments thingy. I even updated my new account and put actual information in it.

Ah, looks awesome. Great little video there with the Ghosts tracks in the background. Man, now I seriously want an iPhone, just for the NIN app.

Well good morning Mr "Old sharp cookie" and fellow fans...LOL Tis a glorious day in nindom. grinning smiley Could not watch the video but did enjoy reading the interview. Some things struck me:

"What would I want if I were a fan? How would I want to be treated?" This is why we wub the old sharp cookie, you care.

"My quest in life now is to surround myself with smart, innovative people," he says, "instead of the gangster types who have exploited artists over the years." (So I think it's safe to say we shall be seeing more young and old sharp cookies in the cookie jar for years to come, DESPITE the hiatus????)

Most awesome.

Sadly though, I still do not own an Iphone and never went back to twitter, nor do I Youtube etc sad smiley... (in this way I am, alas, still clueless & boring-actually I'm just really busy in my own life and don't have a shitload of free time) BUT I do have TREMENDOUS respect for what you're doing here, especially from a marketing standpoint. I think it's awesome that you saw this as the mode of communication (of choice) for a lot of people and that you're harnessing it and using it to trailblaze again.

To be honest, I don't know that I would be OK, with people around me at concerts knowing what I was doing and saying (I've had some weird run ins, on and off here and this place is about as open as I get with strangers) BUT others might be ok with that concept. I guess the experience is different for each of us fans. We all love the music and the shows, that goes without saying. I love the community here. I've met some awesome people from all over the globe I might not have otherwise met (and my life is better for it in many ways). I love watching the creative processes of you (Trent) and Rob and your team. The way you guys continually innovate...(you take risks and aren't afraid to experiment) it's just a really neat "fire" to stand next to and watch I guess. smiling smiley

For others, it's the commmon bonds with technology, the programs the applications etc. and pushing their limits, innovating, creating (The whole science meets art (Scifi) futuristic thing). Still for others it's the pseudo-social manical completion problems LOL. All around though I think we make up a pretty neat community of fan peeps. Like one big dyfunctional family that get together for reunions (concerts) and otherwise are perfectly ok with sending cards, pics, and the occasional joke e-mails LOL grinning smiley

I'm tellin ya man, you guys never cease to amaze me. Even if you're sitting in a modern house high above the hills all beefy in black jeans with two or three days of growth and wolf blue eyes (snicker) eye rolling smiley (If I didn't know any better I'd say the reporter had the hots for you two???) grinning smiley Be well and once again thanks for this!

How can you say that and why are you here? I think it is more important for the iPhone anyway. It's just available for the iPod, because it can be, not because it will make sense. Using it on the iPhone is the best idea for an application that any band has ever had. Truly amazing and innovative. Every other fucking week I am blown away by something new that Nine Inch Nails pulls out of no where. I can't wait for this, I want it now!

Apple sucks, they make cheap, overpriced junk. Will not by anything Mac or any of their applications. No to Mac crap! Watch, this post will be deleted, lol. "Your post has been deleted. This message was brought to you by..Apple, try the new Iphone today. It may fall apart in two months but that's when we get ya to buy another, and another. And don't forget..Ipod is God." lol.

What Apple products have you owned?

It's funny that this is THE END of NIN for awhile after this tour, yet, you cant stop creating new things for this website. You're just as addicted as we are TR.

04/07/09 8:18 AM

SWEET AS HELL. WOOT!

04/07/09 9:09 AM

I think Trent & Co is showing the world much more than how bands can connect with fans. They explain how the whole world can use Google Earth and various free software to follow all different types of live events (music, political, fairs, etc.). I can see how it becomes integrated into your daily news show etc in a few years, but as a NIN fan I will see all this in 2009 =)

Nice gadget. Thanks. You got 34 messages btw.

I'm not sure how I feel about the app. As a piece of tech it's very cool. The design looks nice and easy to manage. The idea of being able to watch people posting at concerts is pretty cool. Still, that's where I start to get uneasy. Watching them zoom in on the people posting's houses gave me creepy Big Brother vibes. I know they said there's a fuzzy setting, but a mile seems like an awfully small area. confused smiley

Like Trent said in the video, it'll probably end up as a hook up app anyways (You're Hotttt!!! what seat are you in?? What are you wearing??)just like all the other ones out there.

I'll definately be lurking...no way am I going to post anything to put where I am on blast--that's just retarded. A mile is nothing to a crackhead.

That app is awesome - now I NEED an iPhone tongue sticking out smiley

I do find a little ironic humor in the fact that it keeps fans so connected to NIN and the band's activity (news posting, concert stuff, etc) ... and they're just about to take an extended break! tongue sticking out smiley

This looks great, now all i have to do is go buy an Apple i phone..keep up the good work guys..cheers

04/07/09 10:57 PM

Great interview! the best was " As an artist, now you are the marketer..."
But PLEASE COME TO MEXICO CITY!!!

04/07/09 11:02 PM

Trent looks like you are logged in, PLEASE MEXICO CITY, PLEASE MEXICO CITY, PLEASE MEXICO CITY, I know it sucks (the city), I hate it, I really do, but please one last concert before I'm too old to go to rock concerts!

04/08/09 11:27 AM

the iPhone app is going to be so fucking cool.

Apple needs to hurry up though!

04/08/09 2:38 PM

guilty secret time. don't do mobile phones, blackberries, iphones. mp3player, yes. and I spend too much time chained to the internet as it is, this is just a temptation too far down the line of permanent indebtiture to the demon that is technology. it's NIN, and it's free. I'm struggling here, something's got to give.... ah shit, weakening......... too much, too much. HELP ME!

04/08/09 3:07 PM

Awesome app, I know it's going to be bad ass even if you don't have an iphone, but watching Kevin playing on one. I WANT! grinning smiley Can't wait to see all the stuff coming from everyone at the shows. Really neat! tongue sticking out smiley

04/08/09 4:02 PM

I do want to buy plastic discs, as long as they have nice artwork, and intelligent, fearless music inside, like NIN.

I want to second the petition for a concert in Mexico City, but please guys, try not to do it in the Foro Sol, which is a gangster managed monopoly in cahoots with the scalpers.

The Auditorio Nacional might be a better venue...

04/08/09 5:21 PM

God damn, I really want this app.

If it weren't for Apple's convoluted vetting processes.

..sigh.

04/08/09 6:15 PM

Straight over my head. i don't even know how to send picture messages let alone all that!

Plus, i don't have an iphone, that would never fit into my teeny weeny handbag on a night out and if it did i'd no doubt loose it.

No no....no iphone anytime soon for me!

Have fun all you iphoney people!
