So, does this mean that if I don't see the most expensive ticket for a show that I want through a pre-sale now, I will not see it either on the general onsale day?

03/18/09 2:55 PM

Thanks for the update, that really clarifies things for me. Sometimes, you just have to pay to get the best...and this is completely worth it.

03/18/09 4:00 PM

I bought pre-sale tix for Phx, San Diego and Vegas.... it is breaking my bank but Trent and NIN is worth it. Trent has done so much for his fans in the last 3-4 years that I appreciate the chance to "pay back" so to speak. Of course I would love more money in my pocket but if it's not in mine, I hope it's in Trent's.

03/18/09 4:24 PM

Its good to hear an explanation as to why the prices are so high. Appreciate being left in the loop. Thank You Mr. Reznor.

03/18/09 4:28 PM

Well I guess that explains it: not only is getting good seats at live shows a challenge in itself, it's also now something I can no longer afford. Got it.

03/18/09 5:06 PM

Thanks for clearing up any confusion. That was a nice/succinct explanation. See you in the pit @ Irvine! smiling smiley

Sorry man!

You should have started saving your pennies back in December when Trent mentioned they would be touring again.

Also just an idea, keep an eye on the forums for your particular show. Some people who bought presale tickets might have had a friend bail out on them for the show and you might be able to go with them (and pay them for the cost of the ticket of course).

03/18/09 5:22 PM

I check in to read others comments, kill a little time waiting for water to boil. It is nice to see so many devotees. I think it is reasonable to ask $99 for floor, there are so many choices to still see NIN/JA, I mean two awesome bands and you can go green and pay like 20 bucks. I am very impressed of the choices offered. Hail to TR.
Those of you who can't make it due to money. Think positive and life has a way of bringing positive things to you... and those who gloat to those who aren't at your level, please reserve yourself and try resistance. Something I had to say. it doesn't make you a more loyal fan because you have more money. Its paper people!

03/18/09 5:52 PM

I don't care how much the tickets cost. I just hate that they sold out in under a minute for the Chicago show. It makes me wonder if the old Spiral system where you had to pay to be a member was the better way to go...maybe less scalper cocks would profit...maybe not. I suppose GA will have to do (just paranoid Trent is leaving us) and best seat in the house is probably only on Trent's lap (even if that sounds creepy as fuck).

03/18/09 5:53 PM

Thanks for the post TR, 99% of bands out there would not do what you do.

I bitched when the ticketing didnt work out for me, but I ended up getting the tickets I wanted.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Trying for Detroit tickets I logged on to the presale site at exactly 7:30pm, after the time was changed twice I might add, and all the tickets are already gone? I thought this was a service trying not to be like Ticketmaster? This really upsets me, and I was even willing to pay the $100 bucks for a great show. Anyway I'm sorry I wasted my time, now I won't be purchasing tickets at all because I refuse to use ticketmaster. Guess I'm reduced to scalpers in the parking lot.

Go to janesaddiction.com and sign up for their free fanclub. I just checked and they have second row seats still available for the 5/31/2009 show at the DTE Energy Music Theater.

03/18/09 6:11 PM

The ticketed pre sale seats I got through NIN were not as good. After I logged into JA I seen I could of got closer better seats-their not selling over there as fast. I am happy still though. I don't know if NIN gets a better cut if I buy from them but I like to think they do.

03/18/09 7:02 PM

oh the days when tickets were basically the same price across reserved seating and sales were first come first serve.....

thanx for the info on the pricing. really, 60 - 100$ isn't bad for this bill.

I thought exactly the same thing, not so much as a proof of creepiness, but as proof that, that given the opportunity, we always find a way to Not Appreciate the great efforts Trent makes for us. We're quite resourceful that way. sigh.

Trent, thanks again for making this effort for your fans. Even mid-whine, some part of us notices and appreciates it.

Thanks for caring enough to say something yourself, Trent. I don't have a problem with spending what could be construed as a bunch of money for a couple tickets. This is important to me and I'm looking forward to seeing a quality show. I'd much rather spend my money on something which enriches me. Looking forward to Vegas! smiling smiley

03/19/09 3:27 AM

I wish the same was possible for European (or any for that matter) festivals. To know your band takes care of you feels so good-it makes you feel special. Oh, well, if it can’t be done so it can’t be done. Just come to Europe then smiling smiley

Love em or hate em, scalpers are a necessary evil. If you can afford to fork out the cash, why the hell not? Better than not seeing the show at all.

Love the buildup/teaser to all of this:
"This is the final curtain folks, giving ourselves a break, nin is over, blah, blah, blah. Oh wait! Ok, scrap that. New shitload of shows announced at... 100$ a pop! Wham-o!! Oh, and what I said about vowing NEVER to play european festivals again because they are a royal pain in the ass? Sratch that too! Shitloads of new dates also announced."

Love you TR, I REALLY, truly do. But this fan can just take so much without thinking "fuck this shit." Or maybe I'm just pissed off that 1) no date has been announced for Montreal, 2) no date has been announced for Minneapolis - where I will be living starting July, and 3) I will be in the U.K. in August AFTER the wave of festival dates.
GODDAMN!!!

And I LOVE JA - was a huge fan before I even knew who the fuck TR was. sad smileyBOO! HOO!!!!!!!!

Sigh... why do I read this stuff from time to time?

If we aren't coming directly to your city this time around, if you had a bad experience buying tickets, if you can't afford the most expensive tickets, if you're just having a crummy day and feel the need to express yourself on the internet... I'm sorry to hear that. Regardless of what we could possibly attempt to do for you, there's a faction of you that seem to exist simply to bitch about every thing imaginable. It defines you.
So... we are coming and we are going to give it our all. I'll either see you there or I won't.

Now please, carry on.

I kept having that problem with the pre-sale until it finally said that I had tickets. I don't know if you kept refreshing or not but that worked for me. I ended up with decent seats for Indy. I think the volume of people and number of shows on sale at the same time might've been a factor.

Counting on the NIN presale since last year has certainly been a good bet though.

ahhh remember the old days when it was just a matter of waiting outside all night in line at the ticket outlet store in your town???

Waiting in line never did it for me. I ways always getting fucking by the ticketbastard lottery system. We wait for hours. We get tickets to buy tickets. Then some douchebag walks up right before the drawing, gets his ticket, and moves to the front of the line effectively cutting in front of everyone else who waited longer. I've had it happen at shows where 100 people were waiting and for ones with only five of us in line.
I'll take a band pre-sale anytime over shit like that. And I've always had great luck with the nin.com ones. Gotten tickets for every show I wanted.

if vip orchestra is the only orchestra that will be available for Wantagh, NY the on sale day, i will kill myself.

03/19/09 8:34 AM

There will never be a perfect way to satisfy all the fans, but I think this type of presale is the lesser of all evils... actually pretty good... For those that want to pay high price, they get the very best seats ($99 ones)... And the pricing drops the further you get from stage... I think it's fair. Usually there is only like 2 price points... this way, the more you pay, the closer you get (of course there's also random luck involved with the presale just due to the MASSIVE DEMAND vs LIMITED SUPPLY... but overall I think it's pretty successful as far as presales go...

pre-sale tickets went on sale at 4:00 by 4:05 I had tickets. My only gripe and it's not much of one is that I have to make a Sophie's choice as to which daughter to take since I took the oldest last time guess we move to the middle-child that only means you have to tour one more time so I can take the youngest. Mother-daughter outings have certainly changed for the better. Excited about the show in west palm beach use to live there so it's an opportunity to visit old haunts. So thank you. For the rest of you malcontents I have just one thing to say Karma.

I'm glad you care enough about your fans to fight for the best seats in the house for us! If it was up to ticketmaster or livenations we would be paying twice that amount for such good seats. You're the best! And I appreciate all the hard work you go through to make us fans happy! grinning smiley

I can't wait to see the shows! I haven't been to class all week because I was so excited to get tix! (Alright, not all were entirely my fault. It would seem that presales = professors out sick. I think we should have presales more often if this is going to be a continuing trend!) hot smiley

As for those of you that are bitching about not being able to get tickets, why is it that you bitch only after you try one avenue? If I didn't get tickets the first time around I'd look for any other avenue I could. Jane's Addiction has had and still has good tickets for most of the shows and there have been multiple people pointing this out. So stop whining and be more proactive about securing yourself a good seat. It's not Trent's job to make sure every single one of his thousands of fans have front row seating. That's impossible to do, even for him.

aww...it will be ok Trent, don't worry about it or them. I know I did not complain about anything. I knew the Michigan-DTE problems had nothing to do with you. I just wanted you to know that I never said anything about anything. I just don't like my seat and it had nothing to do with you. I mean if you like you can invite me to your soundcheck( hint hint, kidding). Everything is ok.

Wait a minute, um... I just glance at his quote again, it read's "I'll either see you there or I won't". Wait, PROMISE me you will acutally see me there. Gosh only if he really meant it the way it is written. ha ah ah ha ha ha Kidding, only wishful thinking I suppose. Let me stop before I get into trouble around here with the MOD's

The seats we have reserved for the NIN pre-sale are the best seats in the house. They are the seats starting at the stage and moving back X rows until we reach 10% of the house. The best seats in the house = the most expensive. These front rows average around $99 (the exception is Kansas City - don't know why). From there it goes to $59 front reserved, $39 back reserved, and $20-25 lawn - on AVERAGE. Depending on the venue size, the pre-sale seats are all the most expensive ones and sometimes SOME from the next level down. If you don't want these seats, wait until the general on-sale and all of the tickets will be available.
I am not solely responsible for this pricing scheme as this is a co-headlining bill but we tried to make a variety of pricing options available to all of you.
Short version: not all seats are $100+, only the front rows - and those are the ones we're offering you first.
Thanks
TR

Um...I had no problem with the price or anything. But than again I don't have any children to worry about etc...
Um....Trent I know you had nothing to do with any of this anyway's. I mean, don't worry about any of this. I mean the Michigan situation was a bit Odd, but other than that, everything was fine. Don't worry about it, ok. Not that I'm saying this is "bugging" you or anything, just forget it. You are terrific, the show will be great and everything will work it self out. PEACE
