So there you go.

And to all those bitching about JA closing - get over yourself. Seeing 2 bands that kick started the alternative music scene on the same tour, no matter in what order, is going to be magic. And if you do leave early I would bet you will risk missing Trent performing with JA. I was a hardcore JA fan in the early 90's but never got to see them live - can't wait now.

Going to be a great night all around. My kids and I are stoked for the Toronto show. My 6th time seeing NIN live, my daughter's 5th time and my son's 3rd time. One big happy NIN family.

Open your minds and shut your mouths.

I'm just very thankful that NIN and JA are going on tour together and coming to Massachusetts! I didn't give much thought to who is closing. I'm watching it all. It doesn't matter to me who closes! Have you watched Navarro play? While I agree Trent is awesome, I enjoy watching the band play as much as watching him. They all bust their asses. Same goes with JA. I am 27 and I don't remember feeling music until 1994. So few bands from that era have even come close to half the success of Jane's and NIN. I recommend listening to the NINJA2009 site's copies of Janes songs instead of YouTube videos. The quality does make a difference. There will be a time when this music won't be able to be seen live at all. Be thankful, and let's all enjoy ourselves!

Just fucking...wow.

Why do I have the feeling that if Jane's Addiction weren't "headlining", that the fans that favor JA over NIN wouldn't be NEARLY as fucking whiny?

Oh, I'm sure we would. Rabid fans are rabid fans after all.

Mostly I think JA fans are kind of in shock at everything right now. The reuniting of Eric Avery, the new music, the tour period. Now we get Jane's as the closer? We're just in shock. Over the last 20+ years, we've come to take whatever we can get. So this is like the motherload year for us.

Then there are those of us who are insane fans of both bands (hello, wave) and we are just as delighted either way. And nothing can rain on this parade.

I can't speak on behalf of all Jane's-heads but I will say this again - we only wish our admiration, respect and love for Trent was matched by his fans for our guys. Hopefully the show will prove some of you doubters wrong.

Nice, I'll watch NIN and escape the torture that will be JA...

Thank you trent for not closing the show!!!!

We get to see Street Sweeper, Nine Inch Nails, and Jane's Addiction. Where's the fire?

This is Trent's tour and he's going to make it something to remember. He always takes care of us and this tour will be no different.

Looking forward to seeing those of you from the Toronto area on June 12th.

the problem: crowd energy.

JA's put out 3 albums in 20 years.

First off, apparently you have gotten your information of the swine flu from fox news because swine flu does not equal death. "well reasoned, reasons to be annoyed" WTF...how is there such thing? The fact that most people on this forum like to complain that's what. So please don't say I wish death upon people when that isn't the fact. Maybe get your medical news somewhere other than CNN or Fox. I highly reccomend that. And don't call me a psychotic fuck, you ignorant prick. Oh and if you didn't notice..people around here don't pay attention or get pissed off if you try and talk "above" their level..so swearing usually works. This is a NIN forum for fuck sakes. I work with psychotic people and trust me man, you have to get down to their level to get anything accross. People here understand fuck fuck shit fuck this that not " I understand your all angry and I see this is upsetting you but lets look at the situation" if you talk like that you'll get punched. So go back to your theater group

I'm Canadian, so I don't get my news from any of your pathetic 'American' news stations, and believe me; the way it was framed, it appeared that you were, at the very least, wishing harm on people.

Justifying acting like an asshole with "this is a nin forum!" is just that; justification. You don't need to attack people when you post, you know... you can just talk. I'm not trying to talk "above" your level; the swearing wasn't the main problem. The problem with your post was it was just an attack with no reasoning to it; if a post is just an emotional outburst, it adds nothing to a conversation.

I agree, there's lots of whining going on in here, but swearing at them isn't going to make them stop whining. I haven't been whining, though I personally don't like Jane's Addiction, but at the very least this can be a window for me to leave early if their live show impresses me as little as their studio music.

Ultimately, Trent does what he wants and I'm cool with that. A lot of people are going to be happy that Jane's is closing, and that's cool. Those who aren't happy about it are equally entitled to their opinion, and don't deserve to be assaulted as they so frequently are on this thread.

Didn't mean to offend you or attack you, I was mostly in a bad mood and it really annoys me to see aimlessly incidenary posts.

Hope you're having a good day!

EDIT:: I re-read a lot of this thread, and I sympathize with you much more strongly. This forum is filled with a lot of... pathetic people.

SECOND EDIT:: When I say 'pathetic' American news, I mean your news services are pathetic... not Americans themselves.

okay my question is for May 29th in Chicago - because there is no SS/JA (unfortunately)will NIN be going on at 7:30? i dont see why they would wait any longer as sunlight is a lessening commodity at that time. thoughts?

Yes people who don't want to see Jane's close should leave. Just exit when NIN is done. Especially if you are near the front or on the rail. Leave during the band change, don't be rude about it, but YES PLEASE LEAVE. You can then all get together and hit up the Denny's and mope about how horrible life is. Jane's will actually be glad you're leaving: no band wants people who don't want to be there right in front of them where they have to stare at their disappointed bored faces all night. It's a real downer.

And then there will be more room for me. Thanks!

Couldn't have said it better myself

Keep in mind an awful lot of thought has gone into this decision - certainly MUCH more than most of the comments here. The beauty of the situation is this: if you want to leave, LEAVE. Nobody's forcing you to stay - go home.
The show NIN is going to play is the exact opposite of LITS. The sets will be truly varied, there's no production limitations and we know a LOT of material now. I wanted play first, and I wanted to start the set in daylight. If you're here reading and frothing on this board, you're likely a fan. You've likely seen us recently - this is a chance to see something quite different. JA is not bigger than us and we're not bigger than JA - this is an issue of respect and simply WHAT I WANT TO DO because I do have a master plan here. Open up your minds for a second and lay off the knee-jerk reactionary bullshit for a second - it's embarrassing for all of us.

I was actually just saying this on Twitter "Not to mention that Trent has done nothing but promise us an amazing tour with lots of surprises and we know he will give us that".

I will be at two shows and expect them to be two of the best nights of my life.

You remind me of the last line in the second verse of Starfuckers... smiling smiley

I know 10 people going and maybe 4 of them actually care to see Janes. Once I mentioned they were closing everyone gave me one big "HUH?"

But hey, maybe this is some kind of joint show where trent will come out and play with Janes? or something weird like that. Could be good, still kinda lame though.

As for Trent's decision, it's really a whatever situation -- like, really. Won't be great, but won't be a disaster either; will be just a show. I reckon if I were a true fan I wouldn't even be here cuz the sole presence of NIN in my life could make it up for his last show, but I have to admit I'm attending out of curiosity smiling smiley. I bought the shittiest tickets I could possibly get (talk about irony...?), haven't even got them yet, and I'm just... more into... my own little world, honestly...

The whole "respect" issue is really Trent's personal business. It's up to his fans whether they enjoy this or not. Nobody should be telling each other to enjoy or to resent his decision. Just... Just shut the fuck up, for the sake of a good summer. Be grateful (not happy, if you insist on being so jaded) that you're getting to see NIN for the last time in a long, looooooooooong while. Chances are this could be one of the last few great things we get to see in these times, given the current situation. I personally like the idea of chilling in the lawns, and...

-- I'm afraid I spent too much already with a bunch of whiners. Yes, I'm feeling superior to all of you, little fuckers, and I couldn't give a freaking damn. Grab a copy of Broken, dig it, and grow the fuck up. Mr. Reznor, if you're around, all the best in your show; I will be there. And could you please tell me how come I haven't got my tickets yet? It's been a month since my purchase :-S

Some of you people need to open your minds. you're acting like britney spears is closing the show...its JANES ADDICTION dammit! Its their first tour with the original lineup since FOREVER. Plus they are an important band for music and they are above all amazing live!

If you don't know who they are or don't like them, download some of their songs and try again. If you still don't like them, when you go to the show, simply leave. BuT. DOnt. Be.CLOSEMINDED.

the.end.

Very very sad bullshit going on here.
I agree with the previous intervention.
Grow up, little teenage dorks.
It is just respectful that JA is closing the show.
Open your minds.
Stop acting like god-worshiping failures.
Take this opportunity to discover a band that has influenced so-called alternative scene as much as NIN. But what am I talking about ? The tour is not yet coming to Montreal, the only place where I can afford to go. Uniting those two bands is probably the best thing that happened to the rock and roll scene since the early 1990's.
Shut up and enjoy.
Have a nice day.

I'm wondering if this is going to be the case for the UK Manchester & London shows..

From the 02 site:

"Nine Inch Nails, who will also be appearing at Sonisphere festival in Knebworth in August will be bringing along some very special guests to open the show, in the form of Jane's Addiction. "

However, I respect Trent's words and decision, and will 100% be sticking around for JA if this is the turn out over here, but at the end of the day it is still going to be very anti climactic for a lot of people.

That said, this is the North American tour thread, and nothing has been said about the UK shows setwise.
