i say from now on this should be a thread about ice cream.

my favourite ever were monaco bars! hardly anyone remembers them. they were like a maxibon in shape, had vanilla ice cream in the middle, and two soft biscuit like chocolate wafer type things on either side.

I don't know whether to laugh or facepalm, so I'll do both at the same time.

Personally, I like Klondike Bars. However...

Come down people! This is what Trent said on his twitter:
"trent_reznor-this way I can join you on the lawn after my show and watch one of my favorite bands every night."

It's gonna be hell of a show either way!

yes yes, we all know. but do you prefer strawberry or peppermint choc chip?

04/30/09 9:01 AM

Personally, I've always been a bit partial to butterscotch ripple. Espexially on a hot day.

04/30/09 9:06 AM

Maybe ice cream is the solution. Those who are all bent out of shape can sell their tickets and be able to afford a couple cartons of Haagn-Dazs to cheer themselves up.

I'm not sure I remember Monaco bars but I used to like those Pac-Man bars that you got from the Dickie Dee. You know the one with the gum ball eye. Also from Dickie Dee they had the Great Canadian Mint bar that had a pretty serious slab of fudge in the middle of it. Kind of like the think filling in the old style fudge cookies but a bit more compact.

Damn...

04/30/09 9:07 AM

BTW, don't take Xiola too seriously. They drink the cool aid over there.

04/30/09 9:31 AM

yeah if you want to see real whiny bitches, head on over to xiola. haha. you guys have nothing on them. even as a kool-aid drinking jane's addiction obsessed nutjob, i haven't visited that place for ages. "we love jane's addiction and we hate everything else" about sums it up. you won't find the majority of jane's-heads online anyway. we're not a terribly organized army like you guys are. but you will find us at the NIN|JA concert. because at this moment, you should be with us ... feeling like we do. like we love to. and it seems we will again. smiling smiley

RE: Jane's Addiction playing
If you haven't already I suggest that y'all take a peak at the official JA site. There are ton's of pictures of Trent.... and he and JA are working together on stuff in the pics... I am so excited to see what they come up with ...
My favorite pic is this one...[img]http://www.janesaddiction.com/photo/all/ja_in_the_studio-15#photo

like here Dave, "let me show you how to play that...."[img]http://[www.janesaddiction.com][/img][/img]

got my tickets today! Wo hoo.... How many of you are going to dress up like ninjas for the concert? Be honest now.....

On a side note, I would die of ectasy if NIN played "get down make love" at the Shoreline show......

Oh wow, all you people bitching that you are personally insulted that Trent has not taken into account all the great sacrifices you are making to come see his show, or whining that youre VAMPYRE SOULS cannot bear to witness Nine Inch Nails in the daylight...

Go the fuck home after NIN plays. That way I won't have to share the pit with your spoiled asses or sit behind your parents' cars in the line out of the parking lot.

I'm going to come out of this show a bigger NIN fan than ever because of the graciousness he has showed Jane's Addiction and the fact that he stood up to you crybabies.

Xiola is a hive of scum and villainy and Six7Six7 is one of the biggest douches on that board. Trust me, I know that community. I was a very active member until about 2003, when the fallout from the band's tepid "Strays" album and the recriminations between band members' wives over the most recent breakup made the place so toxic I couldn't stand it any more. They've gone crazy and started devouring each other like rats trapped in a tin can.

Spreading love via ice cream in this thread now? lol Vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate pieces and chocolate sauce is pure heaven =3

Yeah I was a member there long ago and half the time they spent arguing over what individual "was" Jane's Addiction, Perry or Eric and sometimes Dave (never Perkins though) and the rest of the time they spent bitching at each other. I was like "is this not a fan site? What's with all the division" and they were like "fuck off newb" so I did as suggested. I lurked once in awhile over the years but just the same moaning and whining as always.

They also are very 'cool' over there, which = high on themselves and low on everyone else.

As Mudget said you won't find too many Jane's fans grouping together on line. Stems from the fact that the band always went their separate ways so I guess the fans do too. Also there have been way to many sites come and gone over the years (both official and not) that make it hard to settle somewhere. Anyone remember:

JanesAddiction.net
Teeth.net
Justin's Janes Addiction Page
PerryFarrel.net (the original one and then the second one and then the...)

Maybe, and im going out on a limb here, and correct me if Im wrong TR... but he has said, this whole tour is about him and his band, going out, and having FUN,

now I dont know about you, but if I was going out on the road, for what could be the last time for a long time, I would *love* to be able to tour with one of my most favorite and respected bands, and have the ability to watch them perform every nite!

its a lot easier to be able to watch the action after a gig than before. maybe he just wants to play in the sun, chill out, and watch one of his favorites! its not so hard to imagine.

everyone here seems so entitled, and are only thinking about themselves in this matter.. but fuck that. the man has done a LOT for us. maybe we should just let him enjoy this one.

Only sensible post in the whole thread.

why thank you..

it's pretty funny how this argument is *still* going on even though TR himself addressed it.

people have been complaining about set times. an hour and a half is a long time, and considering how much time they used to use up on segway songs, backdrop changes, all those little production aspects that always added up, now NIN has an hour and a half to BURN through an awesome setlist. All that means is now every show can be DIFFERENT. All those rare songs that people on here used to bitch about not getting played now actually have a chance of making it onto the setlists.

who the hell knows what tricks he has up his sleeve for this show. I for one, cant wait.

I thought I'd lurk over there at Xiola for kicks. You have been quoted for the truth ... FORK!!, they are high on themselves and Janes, obviously. I guess you have haters on both sides...

CHUNKY! anything chunky.

And you are all correct about Xiola. It's a cesspool of noobs.

I like dropping into [perry-farrell.net] - I like the people there. And I assume that the official JA site (http://www.janesaddiction.com/) whores section will eventually be a forum. You'd think they would have wanted that up by now but /shrug.

Hey Jayetheartist! I think I know you! Two quick trivia questions about you to confirm - do you have lots of tats, are you in fact a tat artist? And did you once date a fire-spinner?

If so --- I knooowwww youuuuu. hehe. Also I noticed you were going to the KC show so I'm pretty sure it's you.

Sorry to be so mysterious. I'll give more details if you respond with the initials of that ex-girlfriend I'm referring to. Then we must make plans to meet at the NINJA show. Because you're a cool dude and I haven't seen you for a long time.

As for that photograph of Trent with the boys, I think those were shot in studio while the gang was working on the Chip Away / Whores releases.

But I do think there will be a lot of collaboration on this tour, like both bands up on stage together, etc.

Oh man, I totally remember Justin's Jane's Addiction page. Way back in 1995 or 1996, it was one of the first sites that came up when you searched (in one of the pre-Google search engines like Lycos) for Jane's Addiction. I still remember the piece of fiction posted there, and this great line: "That's why no one listens to Jane's any more. It was the fuck soundtrack for a generation that has long since broken up."

As for JA sites, there was also Some Divers Whistle, which I remember getting some good bootlegs off of. They did a good job keeping up with the post- and side projects like Polar Bear and Deconstruction.

The lack of an established online JA community may also just be an artifact of the band having broken up long ago, years before the Internet. But the biggest critical mass and most active messageboards were at 1% and then at Xiola after 1% went by the wayside. There've also been some unseemly public squabbles between Sonny, the guy who runs Xiola (I do respect Sonny) and Perry Farrell and his wife over domain names. I remember all the drama when people realized that Perry's wife had been posting under a pseudonym for a while, mostly to defend Perry's reputation and take shots at the other band members.

It's one big, happy, dysfunctional family.

The best combination in the world is lemon & strawberry ice cream.

04/30/09 10:57 AM

This is the first time I will be seeing NIN live. I "discovered" MTR when I first viewed The Crow and then bought the soundtrack. Joy Division was big with us in the 1980's so I can appreciate Trent doing his version of Dead Souls. From that point on I was on the 'net seeking more of his material. I have bought four CD's so far: With Teeth, Pretty Hate Machine, Downward Spiral and All that could have been. Just saving up for The Fragile. Downloaded The Slip and burned it to a DVD for my car. No IPod yet...maybe for Xmas from my tech geek husband.
I would love to sit down with Trent and get his point of view on depression, addiction and the ways and means he found to get himself out of the "great below". I am often moved to tears when I hear that song and, of course, Hurt. How many of you fans actually cry when you hear some of Trent's lyrics? Love to get your side on his words too.

I think a lot of people are going to jet early due to JA playing last... I know I'm probably jetting just so I can beat traffic. Trent, please reconsider... you need to come on last..
