At this point, the $300 people will be escorted back to the venue after the nin.com pre-sale people are allowed in but before the general public. If you are a $300 donator AND a nin.com pre-sale person, yes, you can go early.

Will this apply to people who have JA presale tickets?

I can't fucking wait for this!

I picked up VIP for the Toronto show. Well...at least I think I did! I submitted all my info, and have only received the automated confirmation email. I imagine more details will come shortly.

yay! agreed!
why don't more bands put themselves out like this for the sake of a good cause? meeting fans isn't necessarily an ordeal, but I'm sure it's stressful, one way or another. yet, here we have someone who might understandably welcome a bit of private time prepared to offer up that time for a good cause. much admiration and jealousy!! hope the donations roll in as they have done.

05/22/09 2:33 PM

I don't have 1000 dollars (not that it matters because I am in Turkey and it will be a festival here, so no VIPs anyway) but still I wanted to contribute and donate 10 dollars. However, my perfectly-working-everywhere-else credit card is rejected. Would it be because the system doesn't accept international donation?

I am sorry I cannot help in that way but I am hoping my best wishes may help Eric in some other heavenly ways. smiling smiley

05/22/09 3:33 PM

Thanks for clearing some of this up, T. Good to know.

05/22/09 2:38 PM

Definatetly a great cause. I just wish this would have been available before the Irvine show just this last wednesday. (Awesome show btw!! but we all knew it would be)

I still plan to donate - Any special meet and greet options post tour for those in OC/LA area? smiling smiley

Keep up the good work!

This is seriously amazing! A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity AND a way to help someone out. Pilgrimage and I will be VIP in Michigan, and we are beyond excited! I'm thankful I have a husband who understands how awesome this is for Eric and the two of us and doesn't mind shelling out our money for this.

First up, good for you TR, after the career you have had (from a fan standpoint) I still can't help but tip my hat to the fact that you didn't let your morals slip. This is a fucking great cause, and adding your name and our names to this helps highlight all the shit that goes on in this world where even the good people you meet disappear up their own arse. Get that DNA of yours cloned at some point will you? I have a feeling that people like you are a dying breed.

Second, back to the cloning, nah, back to you inventing a business model that benefits all the fan the performer and the people in between, yes the guy who soundchecks the guitars, the will call advisor, and all those people who have a TR poster on their wall.
You are kicking ass in this and I can't quite think of a better way to say "Fuck you" to Interscope (and pretty much all record labels) than to show them the error of their ways. These past few years are groundbreaking for me.

When telling the Ozzy story people always tend to mention the dove incident, fair play it was a rock and roll incient above the TV out the hotel window. I hope that when people look back in a decade to the way that entertainment (not just music) is percieved that your name is mentioned in such a way. This escape that you provide right here, and lets be honest it is an escape, to meet someone who that seems to hold such an attunement to your feelings but at the same time put someone else in the limelight, not only that for you to put yourself out there... Cudos TR, really.

For the rest of us, myself included, and to all the snipers that might be picking bad points or highlighting the fame element, all of you:
It's a idea outside of the box, it's selfless, direct and part of the revolution.

I've like NIN for longer than I care to compare with you, but I'll say this, I can't remember such a proud time as right now. If you have any compassion and anger and hurt and consideration you'll see that this whole event you will be part of and are part of is a one off. Unlike all the other dickhead bands that sign up to labels, tour, charge stupid amounts of money, and basically don't fucking care, this guy does.

Not a love story, but hat off to you TR. I'll miss the tours and the band but I'll have memories that are fucking immense, not only that there will be a community that is fucking immense, Eric included.

Thank you.

We are offering a LIMITED amount of $1,000. ONLY donations for Bonnaroo - you must already have tickets (or buy them separate). The specifics will be different, as we have no soundchecks, etc but we will include a VIP pass and access to hang out in whatever situation we find ourselves in there. Specific details about this particular show coming soon.

Sorry to be an idiot, but does that mean we cannot sign up for Bonnaroo until you post further details? Or can we sign up at any time up until the limited number of spots are filled, and you'll get the details to us soon?

05/22/09 3:19 PM

I know some people have asked this, but I haven't seen it in this thread:

Is it possible to add an "upgrade" option whereby those who have already donated $300 can add another $700 and receive the full package?

It's been one of mine too for a long long time. What an amazing opportunity to help someone out who is literally DYING AND get to do this. To be able to look Trent in the eye, shake his hand and tell him thank you is going to put a giant checkmark on a checkbox that's been waiting to be filled in for a long, long time.

05/22/09 3:28 PM

Trent,
First: this is such an incredible opportunity and for such a worthy cause so I want to say thanks for doing something like this.
Second: I know that you mention we can meet SSSC but how about Jane's Addiction? My friend and I love them too. It would add extra amazing to our unbelievable time.
Third: is there any possibility, when we get in, of getting merch before? I ask because I think that a lot of people attending would want to get the tour poster signed when they meet the band.
Lastly: okay, this is just such a cool thing to do. That's all.

05/22/09 3:30 PM

So, I'm poised to donate some more money, if I have confirmation that this is going ahead for the 02 Arena, London show...

05/22/09 3:57 PM

Thanks for clearing this up. I'm excited about this and can't wait for the 31st. smiling smiley

05/22/09 3:57 PM

Thank You Thank You Trent meeting you will be my dream come true. See you in Chicago I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SynKill, very well said (your whole post, not just my short quote).

I have NO idea what exactly happened at Santa Barbara that Trent was talking about and if someone wants to PM me to fill me in, thanks!
But I can imagine.

I for one am overjoyed and proud to be able to participate in this opportunity and really have to hand it to Trent and ALL involved for this. I still have not learned how this came about? I was at the Irvine show when Trent first offered this the other day.

But I was just saying today to my girlfriend today I would have been WAY less inclined (and probably passed) if it was just a VIP offering without the cause. This is why I didnt understand the thing Josh Freeze did with his album VIP offerings....with all his VIP thousand dollar plus packages and how it MUST have been a joke. Is an artist with a good career like his really in need to invent little things like "Miniature golf with Maynard" for 10,000, and all the other expensive packages - and it just goes to Joshs pocket?!?? I hope it was a joke - Im going to assume it was and he wasnt just seeing who will pay thousands just to his pocket for a day at Disneyland with him. I mean who am I to say what he can and cant do.........

But Im not here to dis JF, but just to point out that the power of celebrity can move mountains if those people just give a fuck enough to CARE and bother to inspire others to care. So many people in that power could give a fuck or like many celebs that just do it for the PR.

I. as well, have been a fan since about 89 or 90 and of course loved all the "art" NIN has created, but always felt proud to be a fan as well because of how "real" trent has tried to be never giving in to the corporate greedy side of things, or the greed that takes over so many that gain so much stardom. I truly cant believe some of the people on this board that bitch about this and that, like its the end of the fucking world and NIN fault that they got to the venue late, or that they are ENTITLED to watch NIN be the last artist on a bill. Not even going to address the shit people are PMing him.

Yes, NIN is a great fucking band and always has been. But to any of the people bitching, and really everyone, let this be just one more way to be inspired about all that goes on in the world around you and realize there are bigger things to get mad about than some of the petty things I see here. There are people all over the world that have to live in conditions you cant even DREAM of, just cause you were LUCKY enough to be born where you were. And some people, like Eric, though living in the richest fucking country in the world, still have other problems you should all be thankful you don't have to deal with. There is a lot of SHIT going on all around you that needs fixing and ANY of us, even if you dont have 1200 dollars to drop, can do little things to just CARE about the world around them whether it be environmentally, socially, politically, or whatever.

It has seemed like people of this world get more and more selfish, petty, and wrapped up in what they feel the world OWES them rather than thinking, were all in this together, and some people have it harder than others and its not their fault. Isnt the whole point of people wanting to even be AROUND other people on a basic level, so we can all add to each others lives so they are better than they would be if we were on our own???

NIN, along with other bands in the late 80s like Skinny Puppy, Dead Kennedys, the "punk" ethic in general, etc etc, inspired me as a teen to really look outside myself and give a shit about others esp those less fortunate than myself. And to fight against the greed, and power addiction so many succumb to in life.

and if the sentiment in songs like Capital G, and The Warning, (hell the whole Year Zero record), and Terrible Lie, and Heresy, didnt inspire us to think about these things......

then I hope people find inspiration from this gesture the Wave Goodbye tour bands are showing in this proposal, and also find inspiration from the fans that have given to the cause. I hope that no one forgets this isnt so much about meeting Trent as it is about helping someone less fortunate than yourself, with a little bonus in it in return (albeit a pretty cool bonus). I hope when people get on this forum to complain they didnt get whats coming to them in whatever way, they first think that maybe things could be much worse, and ARE for others.

And I hope if you cant donate, that you feel inspired to educate yourself about our really messed up health care system (go watch Sicko).....or that you find other ways to make the world better for ALL of us. Start a recycling program at your work (I did and it wasnt hard), or just give a little bit of money to those in need, or just freaking be nicer to others........

Hats off to Trent for never losing sight of the world around him through his rise to stardom and never compromising the art NIN has come to represent.
And hats off to ALL involved in raising this money and exposing the issues involved with Erics situation.

VERY sorry for rambling...I can be wordy....

Ill also see everyone in Camden and then the next night in Holmdell where my girlfriend (a medical student who knows all to well how fucked our HC system is), and I will be honored to shake Trents hand (and everyone elses as well).

05/22/09 4:06 PM

What an AWESOME way to meet NIN and help a very needed cause!!!!! I can't wait to see you in Englewood CO.

05/22/09 4:11 PM

When trent said that the pre-sale ticket holders get to leave early what does he mean? No waiting in line to pick up tickets?
