I think this is a really great thing that you guys are doing, and I hope Eric gets his heart. My dad's a doctor, and I explained the situation to him, and he said that unfortunately, with the way everything is set up with insurance - and with the Medicare/Medicaid rules - that the best bet the kid has is to raise the money to just pay for the entire transplant himself. He says it's wrong, but that's how the system is set up.
Nimue35 posted:
The status of the American health care system is a pet peeve of mine that I rant about regularly. When will the government understand that a for-profit health care system is a direct conflict of interest to the health of a patient?
My father has been supporting serious health care reform for years: he thinks the insurance companies and drug companies are money siphoning murderers and that too many doctors do unnecessary procedures on people with paying insurance just to make easy money. He thinks the reforms Obama's administration is trying to get through will greatly help. But he says that unfortunately, when we do get reform, that people like Eric - who have very serious and risky illnesses - will actually be harder to help. He says that they will be even stricter about who they give help to, and that transplants will more often end up going to people who are less risky because of how expensive the procedures are. So I then asked him, "but if they stop pushing to help the harder cases or doing difficult, risky, but innovative treatments, won't we fall behind with what we can achieve with medicine?" And he said, "you're exactly right. But unfortunately, I'm not the one that gets to make those decisions." sad smiley

BTW....remember to go to Veronica's site [www.veronicadelacruzonline.com] and send an e-letter to Senator Harry Reid of Nevada asking for help on Eric's behalf! smiling smiley She has the contact information and a cut-and-paste letter.

Yeah, I just wrote in MEN Manchester, England and you have to supply the date of the show as well. I've got my email back stating what I wrote in. I did notice that the shipping was to the US, but I just emailed support about that.

I wouldn't worry, TR has said it's for the rest of the world shows as well (non-festival). I'll post back once I get my email back from support about the US shipping address.

I too have purchased the $300 package for Sasquatch. I have not received any info other than the original email receipt when I placed the order Wednesday night. HOWEVER, the first post of this thread says: "These offers apply to the HEADLINING (read: NON-FESTIVAL) shows in the rest of the world." Non-festival... that means Sasquatch, right? I want this to happen as much as you guys do....but I'm also trying to accept the fact that it's probably not going to. sad smiley

yeah currently stressing out over the Sasquatch thing, mostly because I haven't gotten any info on what we need to do. I did get an email from nin.com asking for our name/venue etc, and that was followed up by a "thanks" message from nin after we gave them the info.

I think the whole "non-festival" thing is talking about the shows that aren't in North America. They are doing the offers for ALL North American shows (including N. American festivals such as Sasquatch), but NOT for festivals that are in other countries. That's how I interpreted it. Trust me, I saw "non-festival" and had a mini-heart attack initially but then I read more carefully and I'm pretty sure that's what it means.

Also, since he posted
"NO MORE DONATIONS CAN BE ACCEPTED FOR THE FOLLOWING DATES
* 5.21.09 SANTA BARBARA, CA [SANTA BARBARA BOWL]
* 5.22.09 MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA [SHORELINE AMPHITHEATRE]
* 5.24.09 GEORGE, WA [THE GORGE - SASQUATCH FESTIVAL] "

it implies that they are indeed doing the offers for these dates, just that they are already full or something.

What's the order of events? Soundcheck, meet & greet, backstage?

and - WHERE CAN I SEE THE PIX OF U AND THE GUYZ?! :-D

Hi, you got it right. NiN Soundcheck, meet & greet w/NiN right after their soundcheck and while SSSC is setting up for their soundcheck, then SSSC starts to play but it does take a little while for them to change sets and during that time we met NiN. Then finally backstage after SSSC soundcheck is done.

no robin??!! hope he'll be at the sasquatch m/g

Nope no Robin in Santa Barbara but I saw on http://ninblogs.wordpress.com/ there is a Coldplay CD that's been signed by the whole band so it appears that Robin was there for the M&G in Mountain View.

craig

That would be my Coldplay CD. =) I know how much Trent appreciates them, so I thought it only appropriate.

i'm worried. i think that the only way we're going to get screwed over is by the whole timing thing and not getting info in time since it's so short notice. If Sasquatch was going to be excluded Trent would have said something, like "all US NIN|JA tours EXCEPT Sasquatch, etc."

Then again, maybe I'm just being overly positive-thinking to make myself feel better....:/

05/23/09 3:27 PM

I'm all for positive thinking, send some my way, jennitaliaz!!!

05/23/09 3:28 PM

Wow. According to Veronica's Twitter, the total fundraising so far is $651,160.34, and $645,990 of that is from the NIN effort.

05/23/09 3:31 PM

With all these people going to these backstage events were are all the pictures? Anyone? I'd like to see what you get for a grand. BTW Canada got SCREWED on this tour! We want NIN!

05/23/09 3:33 PM

I'd like to make another separate post about the NIN show on July 8 in Amsterdam.

Anyone who is going or thinking about going to this and would like to meet & greet with NIN I still need someone to split a $300 package with me. My friends can't get the money together and I really want to meet the band so if anyone's interested please drop me a PM so we can work something out. Thanks smiling smiley

Are you working with a registered charity on this? People can always afford to be more generous supporting worthy causes if they know they'll get 1/2 the money back from the taxman. Just a thought.

This has been discussed, and I seem to recall there being confirmation on part of this being tax deductible... I'm sure something more "official" on this will come to light in the future... but right now, I think everyone is just focused on getting Eric help ASAP...

Great pics! I'm assuming you had pit tickets for the show. The more pics I see, the more excited I get!

Also, to everyone who's gone, does anyone know about what the video policy is concerning the meet & greet and soundcheck? I'm really more interested in just pics for the M&G, but video would be great with the soundcheck.
