It was a very constructive argument that gets the point across without being condescending, sarcastic, or just plain nasty about it. I don't know who deleted the post, but I certainly wouldn't have.

Of course this is not aimed at everybody and BY FAR most of you are decent and cool people. BUT, for those wondering why I occasionally lash out, often with some scolding advice for me... You have NO IDEA the amount and intensity of bullshit that comes my way from the "community". You do not experience this in your life, and you don't know what it's like. You just don't. And MOST of it is coming from people who are your FANS? When this tour ends, so does any accessibility to me and I really can't wait at this point. You shouldn't have to keep score over every detail of what's going on here. I think people can be fans and be supportive while having their opinions, but really if someone was here with no goal other than to piss you off then they contradict their own point of being on the fan site. Anybody that can at least imagine what you're trying to accommodate and multitask at least understands it's not easy physically or mentally as it is, then to be criticized for proactive attempts like they're not enough, it sounds like somebody who criticizes like that could look for better ways to use their time. I think while people can make suggestions, be themselves, whatever, they should generally know you have the final decision on how to use your time.

He, like every other human being on this Earth, is not "all knowing" and "almighty". While I consider myself a devoted fan of NIN and a number of other good bands, I do not restrict myself from criticizing the actions of individual members or the band as a whole. I realize that @heyericgrant and @thekornreaper could have initially handled the situation maybe a little better, but telling fans to send my good friends hate mail was completely uncalled for and unjust. Even a simple apology to the disappointed Twitter ticket winners would have been enough to not lose devoted, longtime NIN fans. I understand that those who donated got more priority, but the Twitter ticket winners won backstage passes, not fake ones to keep as a souvenir or aftershow passes. People have won court cases over this kind of deception before, and Trent is lucky that neither of these guys nor the other Twitter winners have the time nor the desire to file a lawsuit over this. Sure, free tickets would have been enough for most to not care too much about the prize change, but @thekornreaper would not have flown across the country if it weren't for the backstage passes, as he and I have already been to plenty of NIN shows. And believe me, if neither of the guys already won the passes for free, they would have still shelled out the $1200 for the VIP package. I know some of the above has been mentioned before, but I really hope some of you reconsider the unwarranted flaming of @heyericgrant and thereeper. I was only following Trent Reznor’s Twitter, so it looked to me like he was just randomly attacking people. Now that I’ve gotten a clearer picture of all that has been going on, I can understand why he behaved the way he did, even though I still don’t agree with it. Also take heart, Trent Reznor; you’re not alone when it comes to the “fan” community causing trouble.
