I was super worried that, as a NIN fan, I'd immediately love A Drowning, so I tried to go in with my feet on the ground. It reminds me loads of TDTWWWA, though; as though some female fan with a nice by unexceptional voice and every Hungry Lucy song on MP3 said "I wish Year Zero sounded more like Still".

That said, I listened to it twice. It's pretty tight. I just hope Mariqueen doesn't sound whispery and distant on every track, because other artists have done it better.

i get the feeling Trent has switched shoes with Atticus. Before Trent was the creative force and Atticus would help him get it all down on the computer; freeing Trent from the technical demands of recording. I think that has switched with Atticus Ross now being the creative one. I really respect him for trying so hard to NOT be in the limelight.

Any confirmation on that pitchfork link? Is that legit?

Wow, I listened to it and it left me speechless. Reznorish music combined with beautiful female voice -- still it looks like Trent is not the main figure in this project, the separation and its own name would support this opinion. And… I see a connection with LITS, judging by the chorus lyrics…

Nope, it isn´t. The guitar in video 3 has faster chordchanges then the one in the song.
Both tracks sound alike because they´re probably made the same way (guitar, low pass filter, bottle neck).

This sounds really good! I wasn't expecting to like it so much (especially not first listen!)
Though, it does kind of make me more curious about what that Trent-produced 12 Rounds record would've sounded like... it's definitely showing Atticus' influence.

& Okay, This is NOT nin. That has been made clear by the promotion & now by the sound we're getting. But is anyone else getting that old "Trent is being productive & teasing us relentlessly" excitement?

Remember what I said a few days? About being worried and apprehensive and stuff?

Yeah that's all gone now. Hearing it all together changes things.

I think I was most worried about the vocals, but I've been telling my girlfriend, "Trent wouldn't put it out if it sucked." And I was right.

The vocal melodies have Trent written all over it. When the chorus hit the first time, it literally felt like I'd already heard it before. It's definitely pulling from the past NIN catalogue--I'm seeing bits of LITS and, oddly (?) RWIB v2. But in a good way. It also feels kind of like bits of The Fragile.
