I would like to hear some Trent vocals in the other tracks but I will see what we get.

I realize that not every NIN fan is going to enjoy this and the debates/comparisons will go on and on. Hell, people are still bitching about there being a difference in music he made over a decade ago. This is art, not a preconceived template of someone's expectations.

That said, I hope the material keeps flowing because I am really enjoying it.

Listening to the track I just want to hear the album more and more. I am also interested to see how the package is presented and whether this will be like the Slip or Ghosts.

I think that Trent will yet again create something amazing NIN-wise. You've got to remember that With_Teeth was the first album he made after cleaning up and he was really worried that he was not going to be able to write music, so I don't think it was his finest work. Year Zero was something different and was done whilst NIN were touring and was mainly done on computers and stuff etc. Ghosts was just a bit of a fun experiment done in 10 weeks and then The Slip was all written recorded and produced in 3 weeks! I think that now NIN are no longer touring, and Trent has time to focus without any rush or distractions (though he is working on HTDA) the next NIN release could be immense.

I think you have a good point! the singing is quite emotionless, but I guess that's probably the point of the particular song / lyrics maybe? I'm also looking forward to some more energetic singing, as some of Trent's best moments are the energetic emotive vocals and powerful shouts and screams. (Now Im Nothing!)

This. It's the point of it. LITS had a very similar styling.

It IS NIN with female vocals.

Same instrumental, same lyrics, nothing new.

For those wondering, this track came from what.cd, from a dude who wouldn't reveal his sources.

We know roughly the sort of sounds that these two guys make so it's no surprise that the synths and beats sound very...nin-like , but we're only ON here because we LIKE those sounds generally. It's a separate entity and so far it's just "nin" enough to appeal to me - and just far enough away for me to listen to it with no preconceptions.

so far i'm liking what i'm hearing. Probably wouldn't make it into my top 10 (unlike nin) but it's still up there : certainly in heavy rotation for the time being.

It's probably one of those songs that you don't like as well on the first listen and it grows on you later...

I hadn't thought of that comparison. It fits considering that song does speaking of drowning in the chorus.

It could just be a coincidence, but I wonder if they've been working on this for a while because when you think of the lyrics to LITS, Trent is saying "Watching you drown, I'll follow you down, and I am here right beside you." I just think it's interesting that in this song Mariqueen is saying that she's drowning.

Or he could just be backreferencing. "Hey, I wrote this song about a girlfriend drowning one time, we could reference it."
