I think a HTDA concert would be great to see in a small, intimate venue. No high concept set design or light show, just the band doing their thing. A low expense tour, so no need to sell thousands of tickets for each show, and a great experience for the fans to see them up close ! smiling smiley

I just don't see it working. I don't think HTDA has a good enough fan base to tour. Even with all the fans here that are excited, you still have to fill an arena. Myself, I don't care for the sound of HTDA and wouldn't buy a ticket to the show just because it was Trent and his woman on stage.
Why would they have to play an arena? I've seen bands play to a crowd of 50 people, and be much better than one to 10 thousand.

To pay for the tour. Although I'm sure Trent and Q enjoy playing music to fans, I'm pretty sure they don't want to tour out of their own pockets. Smaller venues are an awesome way to see a show, I agree, but factor in the cost of booking the venue, travel expenses, crew, food, lodging, and everything else that comes along with it. I just don't see how they would make any money off it or come out even for that matter playing small venues. I'm not saying they don't have fans, I'm just saying I don't think a tour would work at this point from a business point of view.

Venues never charge so much that bands don't recoup losses. If they only have 100 fans per date, just go to a 100 venue, and they'll make it back. Unless this tour is going to be LITS-scale, there's no way they won't make back the money big time.

And even if it is LITS-scale, who's to say they won't sell out 10 thousand arenas? If you put in the press release "...of Nine Inch Nails", you'll get a thousand or so for sure.

edit:
Here's an example. The sextet Electric Six bring their show, annually, across all of America and Europe (and sometimes more). They bring all their equipment, have support and bring merch to every show. That's twice as many band members doing cross-continental tours with a small to medium sized fanbase. I don't see how HTDA won't be able to do something with the hundreds of thousands of people who know about them.

TR/MR/AR are professionals...so I'll leave it up to them to decide if it's worth their time and money. I believe Trent said that they are trying to see what makes sense.

And who's to say there wouldn't be a little something extra mixed in other than HTDA. So much has happened since the goodbye tour (that ended up in smaller venues)...and there has been a huge opportunity to gain and expand their fan base.

I'm not saying it can't be done, what I'm saying is I think the fan base would have to be a bit stronger then it is for the tour to make sense. And who the hell is The sextet Electric Six? tongue sticking out smiley
