Honestly, as much as I love Nine Inch Nails, I respect Trent's decision to shelve it for the time being. Of course we'd all love a new Nine Inch Nails record, but that's something I would apprehend more than anticipate.
Don't get me wrong, I was absolutely devastated when Trent announced the "Wave Goodbye", but then I took the time to hear him out, and it really made sense. Trent had such a solid, coherent, and comprehensive body of work and legacy with NIN... Now imagine if he f*cked it up, like Manson did with his last 3 stinkers. (Just my opinion)
Now it's time for something new. I like the HTDA EP, I like the new sober, collected Trent Reznor, and I'm glad he's not a half-dead shock rocker anymore.
The important thing to remember is that Trent WAS Nine Inch Nails, and with HTDA and these movie scores, a part of that still carries on, but with much more freedom and leeway to explore different styles. Plus, he has a much more comfortable working environment; working with his wife, who is a talented singer. I think they compliment each other well, which brings me to my last point...
I CAN'T FUCKING WAAAAIT FOR THIS RECORD!!!
