^^I'm jealous. It's hotter than hell here. I think we're gonna start running at night.

It's 91 out right now. It's supposed to get in the 100s today. You either have to run EARRRRRRLY morning or at night here in the summer.

It was 84 at 10am when I got up. Don't know how hot it was by the time we got out there. It was miserable. We're going to start doing our runs in the late evenings because I just can't hack it in the heat like that, especially on asphalt with very little shade. I can't imagine trying to stay out in that kind of heat for a 12-16 mile run like I'm going to need to be doing by the end of the summer. Blech.

Plus, I sunburn SO easily. Sunscreen can only do so much.

I hear ya, I don't tan I freckle or burn. At least in Michigan our mornings are still pretty mild (although waking up that early sucks). I just did my fist 10K this morning, hooray! I have my first half-marathon at the end of June. Very nervous. It's difficult finding time to do long runs.

The only way I've found to get in my long runs is to pick a time when I'd usually be sleeping (Saturday mornings) and just force myself to get up. Plus, now I have my sister as a training partner. She's career military and NEVER sleeps in, so I know she'll be chomping at the bit at the trailhead and calling me every five minutes if I don't show up. Well, except now we're going to try Friday nights instead, because it'll be cooler and none of us have anywhere we have to be on Saturday mornings so we can stay out pretty late if need be. I hope we can make that schedule work. But yeah, when I was trying to train alone it was SO easy to stay in bed and skip the long runs.

Broken, bruised, forgotten, sore... Count me out for awhile.

The Specialist says I have severe Tendonitis coupled with a moderate bone bruise (on my heel).
He ordered this stupid boot be worn whenever I'm standing/walking AND I have to go to 2 a week PT appointments (3 locations for each session) for a month. I can't use the foot at all until I go back to see him in a month and then he said likely another month afte that before I'll be running again.

I'm beyond blown. Feels like I'm going to miss out on the whole summer.
I guess I'll have plenty of time for upper body workouts though.

Aw man that sucks! You running fool, how did that happen? I've had constant pain in my right calf and left knee for a month now from training for this half marathon. I really hope I don't mess myself up. Maybe I need to cross train more.

Well, I think I started up a bit too fast with my running. Then a Pitbull tryed to attack me on one of my runs and I threw the hardest back snap kick ever (barefoot) right into his nose. That bruised my heel pretty badly and likely aggravated the Achilles strain. Then I went for one run after that and should have stopped immediately but thought it was just one of those "push through it" pains... Got back from that run and my ankle was huge. That was two weeks ago.

I dunno exactly what you might be dealing with LBoogie but, my lesson was to pay more attention to your body when it says "ouch".

Totally cross train more. It helps tons.

I'm fucking pissed. I can't run right now until my bruise gets better. The explanation is in the help i'm in pain thread. Any pressure on my right leg and it throbs where my bruise is. Last time I ran was last Tuesday. This really sucks because I only have so much time left to hit my goal by the end of August and I'm injured. So when I can run, I'm going to have to go into double over time to make up for it.

This sucks. sad smiley
