Are you a Nine Inch Nails "snob"?

It's hard not to be a little bit of an e1itist, sometimes, with regard to some things. This may be especially true for something that means something to you, or that you have studied extensively, or identify with.

When it comes to Nine Inch Nails, are you a bit of a snob? Do you look at some concert goers and think, for example "what's that douchey "brah" jock doing here? I doubt he even likes NIN." Or maybe you had an unpleasant visceral reaction to a preppy-type, or a hipster who claimed to like Nine Inch Nails.

Obviously this is very judgmental and no one can know for sure what something means to someone else, but is anyone else here, besides me, guilty of being a little bit snobish when it comes to all things NIN?

I don't care if they're a 12 year old who thinks songs with "fuck" in are funny, or a 50 year old professor of music. If they're buying music, and supporting an artist I love, it doesn't bother me.

after carefully reading what you have to say here, so that i can gain clarity about it i have to ask a question
do you mean... sure of, or conceited about, or, imbued with a stereotypical preconceived notion?
without knowing the form of the question asked i can not determine my answer

thank you for your consideration

-edit-

no, i feel that i do not look down on people
i feel that love of something brings people together from all walks in life
having a commonality creates strength in a community effort

Okay,

To be more specific:

Do you look down upon people who you feel aren't "true" NIN fans?

Unless you have one of these:

You are nothing to me.

I have tattoos a fraction of that size that have required a million touch-ups. Wonder how many times he'll have to go back. Those areas that are just solid color tend to fade.

I'm not a snob, but I do attempt to bring the unenlightened into the fold.

Ahhh yeah. I think I'm definitely a bit snobbish with NIN, yeah. >< I mean, it just depends on how the person acts about NIN, especially people my age (I feel like it's a different story for people who loved NIN the first time around). If they ACT like they're a die-hard fan, or something, but are clearly not (like...people who have NO IDEA Trent went on his "Wave Goodbye" tour, which was so recent, lol), then I may judge a little. tongue sticking out smiley

And, admittedly, when I was at the With Teeth concert, and there were a bunch of teeny boppers around me (I couldn't get pit tickets for that sad smiley ), and they didn't react to a single song until, near the end, Trent played "The Hand That Feeds," and the little teeny bopper girls went apeshit and bounced around, I got quite irritated. tongue sticking out smiley

But, if someone does truly appreciate NIN, on any level, then it doesn't bother me. There are plenty of bands I really like, whose stuff I'm not necessarily super-well-acquainted with, and who I just can't follow as religiously as I do NIN, but I still really enjoy them.

...I feel like I'm not coherent right now.

Nah. People can like or not like whatever. I just go about my way.

With Teeth came out while I was in high school. I would ride the bus home fantasizing about strangling the girls in the back laughing and singing along to The Hand That Feeds simply because it was on the radio.

So yes, I kinda am.
