Calling all certified Gym Rats and Workout Junkies!

Post away about your weight loss successes, exercise likes/dislikes, daily routines, new supplements and vitamins, and anything else workout-related!

Myself, when I'm on top of my game, I will do 4-5 days of cardio (mainly on my Elliptical and playing tennis, but I do mix it up with some rollerblading and kickboxing occasionally), and 3-4 days of weight training, plus abdominal work.

I work out 6 days a week sometimes 7 if I am feeling ambitious. m-w-f I run and then do an hour of total body circuit weight/plyometrics training. t-th I play football/do sprints and then do a 30min dvd workout. The dvd I usally do is "Winning by Losing" Jillian Micheals or "Total Body Workout" by Gilad. And yes, Gilad is A-mazing! Sat/Sun I will spend the whole day snowboarding at either beavercreak/vail/keystone. I will also throw in cycling a few times a week, even though I generally ride alone since all my cycling buddies are back in NY. Before I left NY I was sponsered by the local company "Handlebars" to road race for a one year contract. It was so much fun! I am looking to get back into it, I just need to get out more in Colorado and meet some fun cycling people.

LOL. Fyi though hun, ellipticals do pretty much nothing for you. Yes, its low impact, yes you burn some calories but in the long run to loose weight it is a waste of time. This has come out of my trainers and friends that are personal trainers mouths. You get a much more effiecent workout/cardio session running/cycling for 30 mins. Think of ellipticals as saftey blankets for people who want to work out but not hard.

If you are just starting, start slow. Do one cardio session 3x a week. Start by running/jogging as long as you can. Aim at 10 mins of straight running. Then 15 the next week. Then get up to 20min if you cannot run good. Then the other 3 days do a weight training program. Go to bodybuilding.com to get an idea. And save one day for all rest. Remember though, to get in shape you need to eat right and cut out junk/over processed/fast food. Movitvation/discipline/dedication is HUGE too. If you ever need help or questions, feel free to ask. I know way to much on this because I love it so much winking smiley

Just got back into my yoga & ballecore & I feel wonderful. smiling bouncing smiley Now, if only I can get my butt out of bed in the cold darkness in the mornings for my run…

I've been doing Pilates which kicks ass. It really isolates muscle groups and believe me you feel the burn working on the refomers and in mat class. This week I purchased a large Danskin balance ball for crunches 3 times a week. Other than that it's just walking my dogs and the occasional bike ride. Not really obsessed with working out per se. I just like to feel energized so I sleep well and feel more balanced.

Nice! Yoga drives me wild though. It actually makes me angry/irratated. Its too slow for me. I need stimulating things like cycling/kickboxing/sports/running. The slowest thing I could tolerate was ballet when I took it for 2 years in college.

i just quit my yoga class. too slow. drove me nuts. i did come out more flexible, but hell, i can do thoose stretches at home.

herxmurder, i'm gonna try running when i go to the gym in a min. i hope it'll pay off....the only thing about running vs elliptical is that the elliptical is easier on my ankles and shins. running kills my legs because of the impact.

but i'll try grinning smiley

Running on a treadmill vs. running beneath the open sky = jerking off vs. actually getting laid.

It's just not indoors activity. Going out, feeling the wind on your face, breathing some cool fresh air, sprinting up a few REAL hills-now that's where it's at!

Oh, pilates! *cringe* We had to do that for 45 mins for a warm up to our 2 1/2 hour ballet class. It would make me sweat/muscles burn so bad. It was really good, but it was so much mental focus!
